I would love to see us go after Tyler Lockett this offseason.

After listening to his interview with Sherman, i'm pretty impressed with him.

I think he would be an improvement over JU JU

the way he thinks and the way he talks is very impressive and I think he'd fit in here awesome.

I always knew he was good,

Just give that interview a listen I think you'll be impressed. I know a lot of you know about him more than I do, but he never really crossed my radar too much till I listened to this interview.

Buehler445 01-09-2023 08:47 AM

I'm a pretty big Lockett fan. It is pretty impressive the career he put together after KState.

However, it would depend on the money. I don't want to plow a shitload of money in a +30 dude.

srvy 01-09-2023 08:48 AM

Nah I am done with trading with the Seahags. We always get shit on!

R Clark 01-09-2023 08:49 AM

Bad idea

Zebedee DuBois 01-09-2023 08:53 AM

i don't think our current philosophy is to go after older players on the backside of their careers - that was more like 90s era Chiefs.

Pretty much this. If the Seahawks put a reasonable trade price on Lockett it's because they are swindling us. Do not trust!

Titty Meat 01-09-2023 09:49 AM

Too old

O.city 01-09-2023 09:52 AM

Way to old and expensive.

Dante84 01-09-2023 09:55 AM

Huge fan, but we’d have to trade and Veach generally doesn’t do that for guys 28+.

notorious 01-09-2023 10:01 AM

Kids a baller, but the price will probably be steep.

Imon Yourside 01-09-2023 10:08 AM

Nah

ChiTown 01-09-2023 10:19 AM

I love me some T-Lock, but pass due to price and age.

Agreed.

Honestly, their WR depth chart right now:

MVS
Toney
Moore
Ross (I know)

They can bring back Justin Watson, who for all our consternation with him sometimes, is an outstanding WR4/WR5. He's not going to cost much and he's absolutely willing to come back after having his young career almost vanish in Tampa.

JuJu's the biggest question. If you do, your WR is pretty close to being where it needs to be so long as you have that TE and RB room as good as it is. Maybe a draft pick finishes you off, maybe.

Without JuJu, they're going to need a guy, but Lockett doesn't seem to be that guy, he's a Toney, not a JuJu. I think Rashee Rice is a higher-upside JuJu, and now you have a hard decision for your first round pick, honestly.

Long story short: I don't think Lockett is what we need.

Dante84 01-09-2023 10:22 AM

Not that this has any bearing on it occurring/not occurring, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind being closer to family since his little brother will be in purple down the road for the next 3-4 years.

Dante84 01-09-2023 10:24 AM

Also - wouldn't mind swapping out MVS for Lockett, so I'm not sure if we could partially offset the move by moving MVS in the deal or elsewhere.

Again - probably doesn't happen.

I would do this just to get rid of MVS.

Same.

Fish 01-09-2023 12:03 PM

Good idea, five years too late.

BWillie 01-09-2023 12:48 PM

MVS has been everything I thought he would be. Just dont get why ppl thought he would be a 1k guy. With that said if we can get out of his contract and nab a real wide receiver we definitely need to.

O.city 01-09-2023 12:50 PM

MVS had 700 yards and is here to be that deep threat. Just run and pull safeties and keep teams with those guys back.

ChiefsCountry 01-09-2023 12:52 PM

Toney with an entire offseason to work with Mahomes and Reid, holy hell watch out.

His catch rate is 51%.

It was a known issue when the Chiefs signed him.

Hes the exact player we envisioned and played equal to his contract

That's the way I see it. Lockett would cost us both money and personnel. I just don't see bringing in a WR over 30 with a $16.75M cap hit. Give the money to Juju, quit bitching about MVS and Watson, and move on.

O.city 01-09-2023 02:59 PM

I just don't know what JJSS brings that you can't get from Moore next year.

If you wanna get real crazy......call the Rams and see if they wanna move Kupp

And it seems like Mahomes loves to force feed him the ball.

Yeah, would love that. They need to rebuild and selling him off would be a great way to start that.

ChiefsFanatic 01-09-2023 05:14 PM

Every year, Lockett makes some of the most ridiculous and impressive catches in the NFL. His toe drags paired with his ability to concentrate on the ball during the process is truly impressive.

I have faith that the Chiefs can find another gem in the later rounds. Patrick makes everyone on the team better. While it would be nice to have 3 WR1s on the team, it's just not going to happen.

This is a great idea...

...if they are willing to come cheap to chase a ring.

But yeah, otherwise...

A full off season isn't going to give me any more faith in his hammy...

MVChiefFan 01-09-2023 08:01 PM

I remember his dad playing for the Chiefs. Man I feel old.

Couch-Potato 01-09-2023 10:16 PM

If we're trading for an aging WR, I'll take Deandre Hopkins.

Stryker 01-09-2023 10:20 PM

Uh, NO too old and we have needs elsewhere to consider.

We don't even have a single WR1, and signing Lockett wouldn't change that fact one bit.

We have a TE1.

I wouldn't trade with the Seahags they ripped off Dungver something awful they will try the same with us.

Chiefs have one of the best training staffs in the NFL. Plus most games will be on grass vs the shit turn in NY.

Agreed. If the intention is having a vet safety blanket in case Moore dosn't pan out, I don't think it's worth the money a JJSS likely costs.

I really like Lockett, I think he offers a LOT more than JJSS, but the age and the fact that the Seahawks are great at killing us with cast-offs means I'd be out.

Veach isn’t Paton though. I get the Clark trade, but that is nowhere close to the Wilson one.
