Chargers Mike Williams ruled out for this weekend's playoff game

Just saw an alert. Hahahaha. Brandon Staley is a ****ing moron.

carcosa 01-13-2023 11:57 AM

The Chargers are never gonna escape their inherent Chargersness

Buehler445 01-13-2023 11:58 AM

Woof. That’s tough. I still think they win but they’re a different team when he’s not out there. Rightfully so. He’s ****ing awesome.

Wisconsin_Chief 01-13-2023 12:00 PM

Something like this should really be enough to get the guy fired if they lose.

I mean, I don't want that to happen, but wow. Such a dipshit.

Megatron96 01-13-2023 12:02 PM

Chargers are really just one of the dumbest franchises in the NFL. What the hell were they thinking playing him last week?

tmax63 01-13-2023 12:04 PM

Chargers gonna Charger

Red Dawg 01-13-2023 12:05 PM

They lose this game and Staley will get canned. Same for McCarthy at Dallas.

dirk digler 01-13-2023 12:07 PM

Suffered a back fracture so he is out 2-3 weeks.

suzzer99 01-13-2023 12:08 PM

I wonder if Staley asked the players if they wanted to play, and of course they said yes.

This is where having an actual ex-NFL player like Reid helps vs. a young nerd players' coach. Reid would just say nope, you're sitting.

UChieffyBugger 01-13-2023 12:30 PM

Chargers still have Allen, Palmer, Everett and Ekeler so they could still make things difficult for us if we play them but no doubt Williams was the one I'm sure Spags has lost sleep over a few times. Huge loss.

He was a pundit darling for a while after this video.

That first year when he went for it a ton on 4th down, he was usually correct by the WP% math (all coaches are still too conservative). But he found out the reason most coaches don't go for it as much as they should - one really bad run and the media goes bananas on you.

Boxer_Chief 01-13-2023 12:44 PM

I’ve never seen a WR make a QB like Williams does to Herbert. He bails him out constantly.

dlphg9 01-13-2023 12:48 PM

Williams is the best WR on the Chargers. He just happens to be hurt a lot. If that mother****er gets his hands on the ball, then he's gonna catch it. I hate playing against him cuz he always catches the ball.

The Chargers are a completely average team that no good team should be afraid of.

And they have won the same number of playoff games in the last decade as the Jaguars have.

Red Dawg 01-13-2023 03:44 PM

I may rather play the Chargers again with no Williams but probably not. I think Jags defense isn't as good. I want the worst defense we can get but unfortunately the Ravens have no shot and neither does Miami.

Two players the Chargers could not afford to lose aside from Herbert:

1) Mike Williams
2) Derwin James

The loss of Williams is significant as it makes their vertical threat one dimensional. You can double or spy Allen all game long and that's all she wrote.

From a Chiefs perspective, this is the best possible news. A fully healthy Chargers offense would've been a problem.

I agree. I’d also add that we don’t really have to cheer for the Jags now.

I’d prefer the Jags still, but that gap isn’t nearly as wide as it would be with Mike Williams.

I'd add Bosa to the list but he never seems to have like a game wrecking show out against us. Yeah this makes me care a lot less about the Jags/LAC game. Still would probably rather face Lawrence but it's like 55-45 now.

Imon Yourside 01-13-2023 04:20 PM

I would be shocked if the Chargers win, we might need them to win a game to keep Staley though

Spott 01-13-2023 04:24 PM

If anything, the Chargers probably don't want to play us. To them, we're like Cincy is to us. Chargers always start out good, and end up blowing a lead in the 4th quarter and losing by 3. Mahomes is 27-3 against the AFC West, so I'd gladly take a matchup against them, especially without Mike Williams who always seems to do good against us.

Quote:

In the canon of the hit Adult Swim animated series*Rick and Morty, Mr. Poopy Butthole is a small yellow character in a top hat who’s a longtime family friend of the Smiths.

No one knows exactly what Mr. Poopy Butthole is. A Gromflomite drone commented on the Galactic Federation database that he appears human. The Gromflomite surveillance of Mr. Poopy Butthole*also revealed that he has a cat and lives in a modest apartment with a hotplate instead of a kitchen. According to the claymation short, “Poopy the Gymnast,” Mr. Poopy Butthole is still traumatized by his injuries and plagued by nightmares of never getting back on the pommel horse. While the series has made no reference to his past athletic career, it is safe to say he was once a star.

Ugh, I want Jags to win but I think there's a decent chance they fire Staley. He really screwed them with that stupid decision. I'm thinking a close loss by the LAC is best for us. Jags get beat up a little and the LAC owner probably gives Staley 1 more year.
