Updated/ HOME/ To those who pray, my 3 month old great grandson ( Leo ) ......
was life flighted to Louisville this morning around 3 AM.
My grandson woke up to use the restroom at 1:30 am and walked into the room to check on him and realized he was not breathing. Neither my grandson nor his wife could get him to respond. They called 911 right away, luckily an ambulance was at the hospital having just went back on duty. Our hospital is only 10 blocks away. Response time was quick, but we do not know how long he went without breathing on his own. Paramedics was able to get him breathing and transported him to our local hospital. Doctors were able to find that he is diabetic, and his sugar was high ( 400 ). A helicopter was ordered, and he is headed to Norton Pediatrics in Louisville. Leo is my 1st Great Grandson, I do have 1 Great Granddaughter, Leo's sister. ***** UPDATE ***** @ 5 AM, stable, breathing on his on, on his way to Nortons for further evaluation. Daddy nor mother ( Mathew & Ann )could not do CPR on him very well but was able to keep air and blood flow moving. Leo did start breathing on own very lightly just as the paramedics pulled into the driveway. Currently stable but awaiting testing to see the extent of the possible damage to his brain. ***** New UPDATE @ 1:30 pm in post 43 ***** ALL TEST ARE NEGATIVE / THE BOY IS NORMAL! He is on his way home! God is Great! Thanks CP for all of the prayers, thoughts and good vibes! PBJ PBJ PBJ ******************************************************** |

Prayers for your grandson and family, Roy
|
Oh man. Prayers and good vibes heading your way.
|
Absolutely Roy. If there is any silver lining in this it is that your grandson woke up when he did. It is as if he was meant to wake up at that time and check on your great grandson in the middle of the night.
Prayers for a continued recovery. |
You and you family are in my prayers!
|
Roy, sending strength to your and your family in this trying time.
I had the privilege to work with folks at Norton's a few years back. It, like all state "anchor" children's hospitals, is an absolutely phenomenal place filled with doctors and nurses who care deeply and make miracles happen regularly. Your great-grand is in the best hands he possibly could be. I can't imagine what you and your grandson are feeling emotionally, but I'm hoping for the best and hope these words may help offer a bit of peace. |

***** UPDATE 1:30 PM *****
Leo seems to be doing well. The staff at Nortons do not believe he is diabetic even though his sugar was extremely elevated. ( awesome news here )
However they believe he has a bad viral infection that has caused this. However after they get the infection under control they will set up testing for all the neurological and se if there is any kind of damage to the brain. Everybody wants to speculate how long he went with out oxygen supplied to the brain when the heart stopped. Even though Matthew did not know how to do CPR, he had read enough charts on hospital walls and things, hhe knew he had to do something, at least attempt to do what he could. The Norton doctors advised him today that he saved his son's life, although he didn't do it properly, what little bit he did do worked. But mom and dad seems to think he is acting normal so we will see. |
Oh my gosh :( prayers your way
|
Great news so far. Keep it coming.
|
Goddamn.
I haven't been on much and missed this. Definitely prayers and good thoughts headed your direction. Seems like not that long ago that we were first time parents (my kids are 8 and 4 now) that I was terrified of SIDS. Fortunately we never had any problems, but that's a hell of a thing. |
Fuuuck, dude, Best wishes to you and yours. Ya'll got this, it's gonna work out, man.
|
prayers up!

Prayers for your family!
|
Best wishes to all in your family. Hopefully he's okay.
|
Hope things go well.
|
Praying for Leo and all of you. Can't even imagine.
|
His two-year-old sister was the alarm, she is going through potty training, had taken her diaper off after they all put her in bed. She jumped up and got in bed with mom and dad. So waking Daddy sent him to the bathroom, he decided to check on Leo. So Paisley started the act of saving her brother.
