The best part is that it solidifies that Staley is definitely staying put. I guess it was pretty certain without making a move this long after that collapse, but still hilarious and fantastic news all the same. What a joke of a franchise.

“Alright, first day of camp with my new team. Can’t wait to work with one of the most talented young QBs in the game. Tons of weapons. The front office did a great job signing big name free agents too. We’re ready to…wait…why are so many guys on IR already?”

The guy who went from backup QB to offensive coordinator in 2 years with no prior coaching experience.

Yeah, that will fix allllll your problems, Chargers

kccrow 01-30-2023 11:17 PM

This was a great hire by the Bolts. Thinking otherwise is being blind to reality.

The Cowboys' offense has been 2nd to only the Chiefs over the past 4 seasons in total yards and total points and they led the league in two of those years in yards and one in points.

The Cowboys' problem wasn't Kellen Moore, it was mostly being neutered by an average QB.

If there is an OC that will get the most out of their talent as a whole, it's going to be Moore. He's also a former NFL QB so he understands the game at the deepest level.

This move 100% doesn't hurt the Chargers. The Chargers will always Charger and they have a dipshit head coach, that's what will hurt the Chargers.

I agree that it was a good hire by the Chargers. The Lombardi dink and dunk approach really did nothing to take advantage of what Herbert does best and that is go downfield, something Moore did with much more regularity in Dallas. Herbert is a level above Dak and this will only make the Chargers better, something nobody wants to see in their own division.

Shitty QB at Boise State and the Beavers dominated his whole school. Thought he died to be honest.

Looks a lot like an average QB making the worst possible throw against what they were presented.

LOL the Beavers. Moore played in the Doug Petersen era (great offensive mind) when they won a Fiesta Bowl and were an AP top 10 all four years he started. Lost a total of three games in his career.

Rather see the Chargers hire one of the retreads than Moore. Cowboys have been top notch offensively despite Dak. Moore already knows Herbert from working together on TV commercials for a Boise car dealership. Apparently Herbert has been a fan of his.

Vladimir_Kyrilytch 01-31-2023 12:22 AM

Kellen Moore if it's the same guy I'm thinking of never has to buy drinks in Boise again. I didn't know he was still in the league. Good for him.

Who the **** is Doug Pederson? Do you mean Dennis Erickson?

Oh just some ball washer. Nevermind.

Chieftain 01-31-2023 12:26 AM

An offensive coordinator can only muster up whatever amount of plays he can at any given game. In the end, the quarterback has to win you that football game. Chargers could have prime Bill Walsh and it won't matter if your QB isn't clutch and has no killer instinct.

So where does this leave the Chargers, with a QB that isn't clutch and certainly has no killer instinct, running their offense now?

Right where we want em?

Good. Good for Boise State and that program and the Chargers.

they sure do love Kellen Moore around here, which I've never understood because it's not like he was that great at Boise St. There are quite a few Cowboys fans here in part because of him(also Dallas has a tendency to sign Boise St players I've noticed, they still have Vander Esch). Wonder if a bunch of Chargers fans will pop up here next season.

But the Cowboys were at their best when Dak was playing more dink and dunk.

Maybe he aced an interview but from a styles perspective, we've see nothing to indicate that Moore is actually a good fit to mentor Herbert or develop a more aggressive, creative downfield passing attack.

Direckshun 01-31-2023 07:05 AM

I am Charlie Brown, and the Chargers are my Lucy with the football, especially under Brandon Staley. I always seem higher on them than they perform.

This past season specifically, I thought to myself, "philosophically, what does a team need to win the Super Bowl" and the Chargers checked literally every box. Swing and a miss, and now I'm in the dirt again.

And now they've hired Kellen Moore, who I think is a very good OC.

Man. Again, I love this hire, I want to think it pushes Herbert further into his development, I want to think this is what gets the Chargers to the Super Bowl level.

Everything the Chargers do just makes sense to me. This is a great move by them.

Maybe the problem is Staley. I'm honest when I say that, because literally everything else they have and do is Super Bowl caliber.

Maybe the problem is Patrick Mahomes and a team stuck in Little Brother Mode.

I will just never understand this team.

How will this be any different than the way Herbert plays in the clutch? Are you thinking he has better weapons in LA or something?

Kellen Moore is average as ****, which is still an upgrade but not by much.

It's going to be an issue when he tries to use Ekeler like he's Pollard and Elliot.

Moore wasn't the problem in Dallas. Neither were all the coaches they fired. The problem is Jones and his insistence that Prescott is a top tier QB. As long as Jerruh hangs on to that fairytale, the Cowboys will be sitting at home in late Jan.

Gary Cooper 01-31-2023 12:22 PM
