Sassy Squatch 03-01-2023 02:05 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs are ranked 29th overall in our team guide. In general, the results show that the facility feels outdated and players would like to see upgrades across the board. Only 56% of respondents believe that club owner Clark Hunt is willing to invest the money to upgrade the facility, ranking him 27th in this category.

Players’ responses showed that treatment of players also falls well below other clubs across the NFL. For example, the Chiefs are one of 6 teams that still make certain players have roommates, and less than 50% of players feel they have enough room to be comfortable on flights.

Feedback on the training room was also notable; player respondents called for a more welcoming environment, and several players had negative opinions about head trainer Rick Burkholder, feeling that he does not treat players fairly and consistently, or with personal care.

KC Hawks 03-01-2023 02:07 PM

Rick Burkholder, widely considered one of the best trainers in the NFL, has the 32nd ranked training staff. Seems accurate.

Mecca 03-01-2023 02:07 PM

Of course Hunt isn't going to upgrade that shit the Chiefs are going to be asking for a new stadium before long.

It's not just arbitrary grades shit out onto the interwebs, though. There's legitimate feedback from the players for why each grade is what it is. Granted, most of it is complaining about outdated facilities which is sort of to be expected.

I really don't like the set up of this. It didn't provide any quantitative results for that grade and it seems to have ranked him that low based on qualitative results. How many players said these things about Rick?

It gave the Broncos a B for training staff grade, but then it ranked 28/32 when asked how they felt the training staff added to their success.

I wonder what the Chiefs ranked on that question, because for some reason the ranking wasn't provided.

Did the Chiefs players feel like the training staff added to their success, but they also felt like Rick was a bit of a dick? Wouldn't a training staff that helped a team succeed be more important than how the head guy made them feel when it comes to a grade?

Without seeing the data it's kind of hard to determine anything really, especially when some of the data is qualitative and open to interpretation.

That’s one thing you have to deal with if you get a kid from one of the super rich college programs. It’s actually a downgrade for those kids when they walk into a NFL locker room or training facility.

It's because the training staff was nice. Look at the Broncos grade for training staff. They got a B, but we're 28th in the league when it came to players thinking the training staff helped them be successful.

1. To do this fairly, it seems like you would have to have players that have spent a certain amount of time with each NFL team.

2. The Chiefs have spent their time winning and playing in Super Bowls and not doing PR for the NFLPA.

3. Chiefs do require their players to work hard and spend more time within the playoffs and championships.

4. Hard to believe that an organization that has Andy Reid as the head coach does not have good food.

5. I have heard rave reviews on the Chiefs training staff, so I am calling bullshit.
