Succession Season 4 Thread
No thread for the final season of the best show still running?
First episode was fantastic. I have zero doubt this is going out with a bang. |
Foaming at the mouth it was so good.
Every episode is something to savor. There were so many lines in this that absolutely crushed it. Just brilliant. |

Who wants to smell Greg's finger?!?
So glad this show is back. Sad it's ending but I have insanely high hopes for this last season to be top notch from start to finish. |
It's like Substack meets Master Class meets The Economist meets The New Yorker
|
What comes after 9?
9B? LMAO I missed this show. Anyone think the production style was different this episode? There was a lot of background noise captured and almost Office like camera work. |
Yeah, the first episode set a very high standard for the rest of the season.
|
Funniest part was when Chiv talked about Roman getting his dick ripped off by an AI jerkoff machine, there was a barely audible off-camera “I hope so” from Roman.
I had to pause it to laugh my ass off. |
So many great moments
Couple of my favs: Tom trolling Greg to confess to Logan Roman's phone conversation with Kerry The whole Connor 100 million to cling to 1% bit |
Another great episode.
I loved the scene with Logan and the kids. Logan was right  |
Quote:
The 2 big ones are: Congratulations on saying the biggest number you ****ing morons. Absolutely correct. Logan intended to run the business. They intended to undercut Logan and in order to do that they had to say the biggest number. But he boiled it down to such simple terms that it cuts through any bullshit they could try to wrap it in. And I love you, but you’re not serious people. It’s not just a barb. It’s an ender. Again, they’re just moving to undercut Logan and not do anything serious. Logan slings shit but when he’s getting to the point, it’s ****ing savage. And Cox is so damn good. |
S4 has been so ****ing good. I had been thinking that it might be a dog after how good S3 was, but it hasn't disappointed me at all. Succession, thus far, has been one of the top all-timer series for me.
|
It's so funny to watch every character on the show run circles around the kids. Even Connor is working them.
|
Brian Cox is so ****ing good.
Logan is his magnum opus. |
Welp... that was a shift.
|
Wow. Didn’t see that one coming
|
****ING HELL this show is god ****ing awesome. Just Jesus Christ, they get every ****ing little tiny detail absolutely right. Timing, blocking, cuts, and FFS the performances are all ****ing spot right the **** on.
Shit is a master class. Absolutely brilliant filmmaking. If you would have told me they'd make a show about ****ing billionaires, make them literally the worst people ever, put them in a super complex situation that I couldn't possibly relate to, and make them perfectly relatable and perfectly articulate where their heads are at through some glances, stuttering, and nuance, I'd have laughed you out of the room. But that's what happened. And yeah, that is a ****ing haymaker. And seemingly out of nowhere.
Spoiler!
This show man... |
Highly recommend watching the discussion post-episode about how they chained together the filming of this episode. Speaks to the brilliance of the entire process.
|
I honestly thought Tom and Logan were ****ing with the kids at first and he was faking. Wow.

Phenomenal episode.
This show is definitely going to finish top 3 all-time for me. Breaking Bad Sopranos Succession |
This show is so good, it's disgusting. I cant believe we get 7 episodes

I thought he was BSing, and apparently so did a bunch of others, until I looked it up myself. The whole post-episode discussion is definitely worth watching. https://i.imgur.com/sggu5Tb.jpg |
It says more about the common schlepp watching the show to think a) you'd fake a medical emergency of someone with prior serious health issues and b) talk shit about someone using a multisyllabic word

I watched the 1st season and a few episodes of season 2 then just gave up on it. Who do you possibly root for? The old man's schtick is grumbling, complaining then telling someone to **** off. Roman is a immature disgusting sexual deviant. The girl is a extra pasty, double chinned, entitled ingrate. Kendall is a walking, talking vagina. Tom is a POS, kissing asses of people above him and bullies people below him. I guess it would be OK to root for Greg. Based on what I have read on this board though I think I'm going to give this series another go.

I'm interested to see how Kendall comes out of this. He's always been so fragile but that was always because his father took any opportunity to crush him. Then he'd fall apart and lash out in the worst way.
|
Best thing on television right now. If you aren't or haven't been watching idk what you're doing with your life.
Episode 3 was ****ing beautiful and if you aren't paying attention - in a way it's a call back to how this show originally started. |
The script for episode 4 was so great.

****ing great episode.
Everything was on point. Except maybe
Spoiler!
Spoiler!
I’ve listened to a few podcasts about Succession and all of them are underselling Kendall’s business acumen. He’s the only one of the kids that understands the mechanics of the board and corporate finance. He’s unstable and insecure. But he is the most competent one from a technical perspective. The criminal part is they would be good if they worked together. Kendall understands the business, Roman is good at understanding people and nuance and Shiv is good at leveling everyone out and she is good on the PR side. But that doesn’t make good TV. |
Another phenomenal episode.
Just give this show all the awards. |
It's literally been perfect thus far. Can't wait to see what the second half brings.

No spoilers, it's a year old, but I think it's a pretty good video. Might be obvious for the non-hayseed rubes like yours truly, but worth a watch IMO.

This show is so ****ing good at making you feel whatever emotion they want you to feel. The writing is so great.
|
This show is so confident. It knows exactly what it is.
|
This show is so good that I legit want to sign my dad up for Living+

What did your dad do to you?? |
Apparently the series finale is 90 minutes long. Yessssss….
|
Quote:
Maybe the best HBO series finale since Six Feet Under? |
I am putting the O/U on the phrase " **** Off" being used 23 times during the episode.
Any takers? |

Unlike your pitch, that no one believed and everyone now hates you for **** off |
That Shiv/Tom scene was legit.

Getting big Michael Corleone vibes from Kendall.

Another thread to shit up by me I guess, and it was bound to happen, but it seems the writers finally got around to letting us know their opinions on right wing news. My least favorite episode since probably the handful of early season 1 episodes.

The protagonists in the show have demonstrated time and time again that they're not good people. They also own a right wing news network. What occurred that seemed like they were pushing some agenda rather than letting the story take a very logical path? |

The only part that has really made me roll my eyes is the storyline with Kendall's ex-wife and (adopted?) daughter. GMAFB with that shit. Still an amazing season though. |

I'm going to spoiler the DC type stuff. IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE IT, DON'T READ IT.
Spoiler!
Overall, I think there was a lot to complain about, but overall I think they did a good job of not beating it over the head too much. The America Decides episode obviously laid it on thick, and I wish they would have chosen a different approach to it, but it is what it is. |
I just don't understand why Menken

Perfect ending for the show. Exactly in line with the back and forth that's gone on the entire time.
The kitchen scene at their mom's house was epic. I can only imagine how much fun they had filming that. Almost seemed like they jumped out of character to just relish the brilliance of the show. |
**** you Shiv!!!
Great finale  |
Awesome.
I honestly didn’t think it would be Tom but it makes the most sense. I thought some stuff. But I’m an idiot and these guys are ****ing brilliant and this is the only way. In the post discussion Mark Mylod talked about if it is truly a good drama it is inevitable, and this was. Just like every damn thing else, it was ****ing on point. Not a feel good ending but the ending the story deserved. There was some profound filmmaking in there. Standing ovation. |
Shiv's a petty vindictive bitch
|
Rome put it best. They're all bullshit
