WR - Who do you keep?
Assuming all the WR expectations come to fruition, meaning Ross/Ross/James show out in camp/PS as expected
We know Toney, Moore, MVS and Rice are all locks - all things being equal who do you keep for the final 2 spots (assuming we only carry 6 WR) or would you push for 7 WRs and short another position such as RB or TE? Remember this is all assuming that the above WRs all meet the expectations of the Chiefs |
Watson will probably stick with all he does from ST's and such.
I figure Richie James fits in pretty well as well. So it comes to that last spot for me |

I don't think Richie James is going anywhere - that's your PR. I don't really see the Ross's making the 53, but I think Justyn could make the PS.

No way they give up on Skyy yet.
I'll go with cut one of the Ross just to clean up the confusion. |
Anybody who selects trading Skyy Moore should be traded from CP to the the Raiders forum.
|
Either Ross will probably make it to the practice squad if it comes to that
|
Keep Justyn Ross if he shows he’s fully healthy and worth a roster spot.
Cut John Ross. Keep James. Toney MVS Moore Rice James Ross Keep Watson if you want 7 WRs. |
Didn’t Watson sign a 2 year deal? No way he’s not making the roster IMO.

Get rid of Justyn, keep John for now. At least he's actually done something in the NFL, and is fast AF.
|
With Rice here now, what does Justyn Ross bring that you don't have?
Atleast the other Ross has speed |
Watson and James are both making the final roster unless they get hurt in preseason.

- Toney
- MVS - Skyy - Rice - James - Watson If we carry 7 WR's and keep one of the Ross's, who gets cut from one of the other position groups? |

What if both ross just share one jersey and swap out behind the gatorade cooler?

If Ross shows that he's at least good at what he does, then it doesn't hurt this team to have another option along with Rice. |

Chiefs also seem to open up a roster spot by not carrying a fullback and plan on using TE's for those play packages. |
I think Justyn Ross has about a .5% chance of making the team, he probably sits on the PS for a year and gets another look next year after MVS is gone.
John Ross has about a 5% chance of making the team and the only reason I give him that is because his one skill is something the rest of the guys don't have, pure elite, world class speed. And for the money thing this team ate money last year to cut Jermaine Carter after signing him. |

With this news, I'd say Justyn Ross likely has an early hold on the #7 spot. I'm assuming he'd be a better special teams player than John Ross, though. |

Rice kinda makes Ross redundant unless he's just too good to let go. |

Unless MVS blows up this year...he's not worth that $14 million in the last year of his deal.

So you have a high end speed first round WR (or 2nd) ease his way in, then let MVS go and he's ready to step right in. Or atleast that was some people's thought process with regards to Hyatt I believe. |
The most likely thing that happens is
MVS Moore Toney Rice James Watson |

God...I hate seeing that idiot's stupid ****ing face.

Watson's my first cut if anyone else forces themselves onto the roster.
As to the odds of that? Lordy folks, it's OTAs. We're a loooooooong ways away from needing to make that decision. John Ross will probably start getting wrecked off the line as soon as pads come on. Justyn Ross will probably get hurt the first time someone touches him. Nothing is to be learned right now apart from how hard someone like Rashee Rice studied the playbook over the last 6 weeks or so. Which, to be frank, means precisely **** all. |

I'm surprised this is even a question. Richie James is making this team. He may even be our #2 WR. Ross or Ross is really really going to have to surprise to be in the mix.
|
MVS
James Toney Moore Rice Watson |
Richie James.

Honestly, I just thrilled with the depth. Hopefully, whoever doesn't make it, we can stash on the PS. Guys will get hurt and miss games and I'd like to have other guys ready to go.
|
Andy seems high on Justyn Ross, so that signals something to me. Should he flash during preseason, I don't know if you can sneak him on the PS. The absence of a FB also tells me we're going with more 3 TE sets. Use 1 of them to be a H-back/safety valve. As I look at our top 4 TEs, you don't want Kelce in that role too often and I don't see either Gray or Fortson as viable candidates. That leaves Bell. The other option would be so say goodbye to Fortson, given his age and injury background and look at Blanton.

Also, Andy specifically said that Noah Gray will be handling some of the FB duties. |

HOWEVER.... A lot of that dead cap is actually a guaranteed salary for the year. If you traded him, the new team would take on his salary, and you're on the hook for the difference, which would save you a little over $9M on the cap. I don't think it's likely, but trading MVS is absolutely on the table in terms of his contract numbers. |

Cut the brokedick Justyn Ross.
I don't think I can handle another offseason of hype for this dude catching a 3 yard slant on video. |
I’d keep 7 and drop Watson in that scenario.

Having too many WRs is a good thing.
You plan to keep them all, but things will happen to prevent that. Someone is going to be NOT available. We have several WRs that have had health concerns in the past. There will be at least one WR on IR sometime during the season. If KC wants to keep Toney, MVS, Moore, Rice, James, Ross, Ross, and Watson on the opening season 53-man roster, they won't happen, but they will keep the best 6. Odds would be Toney, MVS, Moore, Rice, James, and Watson, but if Justyn Ross or John Ross really shine, the Chiefs might try to trade one or two of their veteran WRs (MVS (save $9,000,000),James (save $940,000), or Watson (save $1,100,000)) |

Cutting Richie James would cost $552,500 in dead money.
Cutting Justin Watson would cost $1,230,000 in dead money |

Jim Hines 1970 Chiefs first man to break sub 10 second 100-meter sprint Mexico Olympics. Was wide open 5 yards all the time on the deep bomb. Lenny would lay right in his hands and he would Barnum and Bailey juggle it and drop. This is what these Ross's remind me of. Hard to really make any conclusion as we don't see what they are doing in OTA's.
