Do Black Holes even exist?

Apparently there's a physicist who has mathematically proven that black holes don't exist. Interesting if true.

tredadda 06-22-2023 12:23 PM

What about those that mathematically prove they do exist?

DaFace 06-22-2023 12:24 PM

I mean, we have photos of them...

Of course they exist, there's a whole category dedicated to them on Pornhub.

Yes.. My wife’s purse is a black hole.. I swear there’s a house full of stuff in there..

Third Eye 06-22-2023 02:10 PM

This paper is not new. It was submitted about a decade ago. Here's a better article from 2015 that gets into it without being too technical:

Womble 06-22-2023 02:21 PM

Unlike Bigfoot there is no scientific evidence for the existence of black holes.

Chieftain 06-22-2023 02:30 PM

The Black Hole did exist once where the Kansas City Chiefs have an all-time winning record.

Didn't realize that. Thanks for pointing it out. The article I saw was just published.

No biggie. That stuff happens, particularly with niche stuff that doesn't really hit the mainstream.

If your asshole counts after scallops and chocolate milk, you should take it out on the talk show circuit.

The short answer is, yes. Kim Kardashian's vagina is real.

El Lobo Gordo 06-22-2023 05:17 PM

Black holes are just a space time embedded within Space time. The space time you exist in is almost certainly embedded in something else.

I believe they do; and possibly our entire universe exists in the singularity within.

Just so much we don't know about pretty much everything...

The scientific papers were linked to ArXiv. This is where scientists or members of ChiefsPlanet can upload work prior to being published in a peer-reviewed journal.

I read most of it but it's doesn't sound like it's refuting the existence of a phenomenon. It sounds like it's saying how we classify it is wrong and we don't really understand it.

My understanding would half agree wIth you. As I understand it, she’s agreeing with the general understanding of a star collapse. Current theory is that as a star dies, it collapses on itself to become extremely dense, dense to the point that not even light escapes it. She agrees with the process of the star collapse but she argues that as the star collapses, it sheds mass via radiation, which answers an anomaly we have not understood about black holes. Nobody doubts they emit massive radiation but there was not a way to reconcile the apparent diminution of the star with Einstein’s theory that matter is neither lost nor destroyed but that it assumes another form.

So she’s not disputing collapsing stars but she says the math shows the mass “lost” from the collapse is not because the collapsing star becomes so dense but rather that the mass is converted into radiation. This massive emission of radiation explains why astronomers can’t see anything - there’s nothing to see because it’s been converted to energy.

But, I freely admit I’m no astro physicist. I could be mis-understanding her point. It is certainly far afield from what I normally study. What I find interesting is that even “settled” science isn’t so settled, so, I posted it here. Glad some are reading and responding to this. Thank you for an intelligent response.

I have watched many documentaries about super massive black holes, quatum mechanics, string theory, time/space relations, and I can follow for about 10 minutes before my mind Blue Screens. I want to understand, but I guess my brain doesn't like very large and very small things. Oh well, the world needs ditch diggers too.

smithandrew051 06-23-2023 08:51 AM

Does a Donk win over the Chiefs even exist?

Because by the end of Mahomes’s career, there will be an entire generation that has never witnessed one.

Fish 06-23-2023 09:07 AM

This is basically saying that physics cannot fully explain the process of how black holes form. But that doesn't mean that black holes don't exist. It simply means there's more for us to learn. There's no doubt that black holes actually exist. Their mass is kind of hard to ignore.

What ever point in time you decide the Big Bang was done doing its thing is arbitrary. The universe and its doings is just one big process. Everything you see including yourself is the "aftermath" of that arbitrary point

Which of these possibilities is true:

1. You are the Big Bang.
2. You are the aftermath of the Big Bang.

If it is 2 that is true then something capable of choosing an arbitrary point has to exist in order for you to exist.

It could be. We could be falling toward a singularity. That would be one way to explain the Great Attractor and the reason we see the expansion of Space Time increasing as time goes on.

Although I have no real evidence for it so it is a matter of faith for me, but I believe our universe is embedded in something else.
