if i was the director, the film would end up with mahomes limping off on crutches as lamar celebrated winning a super bowl in the background, and as he walked down the tunnel, all you would hear is andy's voice whispering "rosebud"

That draft looks amazing compared to their 1995 draft.

It's such a weird story.

The only explanation I can come up with is she wanted to get back at Greg Hill by banging his coach.

She could have utterly destroyed that regime at the time if she had gone public. I'd guess some money changed hands.

That entire draft sucked in general. Handful of good players, but who else were the Chiefs supposed to take there? Maybe Isaac Bruce, Kevin Mawae, or Larry Allen?

In the end it wouldn't have mattered who we drafted. Marty was Marty, and we didn't have a QB.

Greg Hill started every game with a 12 yard gain up the middle. Then you never seen him for the rest of the game.

He's a polarizing topic around here, but I think the Chiefs completely wasted his talent. I saw the same thing that you did.

Then he went to the Rams and was about to become a star there when he broke his leg.

The NFL was not kind to Greg Hill.

All that just to end up drafting Greg Hill.

it's actually ****ing nuts that the same scouting department produced Woods, Tongue, Browning, Edwards and JOE HORN three years later

the franchise was too stupid to keep horn of course and instead gave huge money to an aging derrick alexander LMAO

Crazy thing is Peterson had a major woody for a quarterback in that draft but couldn't do it.

Also went back and pulled up the KC Star articles from that time. Chiefs only had Marcus Allen and some unknown as the only running backs under contract at the time of the draft. Free agency was in it's early days and teams hadn't figured it out quite yet. It's basically why they went after Hill and Bennett. Also the Star had the day before the draft that Hill was the #2 overall running back behind Marshal Faulk. Basically it made sense on draft day.

Ahhhh... The 80s. No matter how bad you try to frame the Chiefs drafting, 1983 was the absolute pinnacle of stupidity.

Please, don't remind me of those times. Looking back is to invite depression, looking forward is to invite anxiety, look to the now when things are great and the Chiefs have the best QB in the league.

Carl was just good enough to stick and cash checks and was a douche to boot. He’d come up with a good draft when he was about to wash out more than once but never string enough together to build a sb team.

Plenty of rb talent in that draft and they whiffed on all of it

Almost as bad as Carl evaluating qbs. Rich Gannon in house? Nah. Mike Elkins check. Matt Blundin check. Pat Barnes. Steve Stenstrum. Check check etc. Couldn’t even ever fluke up a Gardner Menshew (sp?) type.

And everyone associated with those picks would be fired.

I know he's the one shining example of "yOu DoN't NeEd A fRaNcHisE qB tO wIn It AlL!" over all these years, but hadn't really looked at his stats... and damn, just think about how good that defense was, for these QBs to win a SB.

Dilfer - 8 games, 1502 yards, 12 TDs, 11 INTs, 76.6 rating

I did enjoy those old school defensive battles when the Ravens played good offenses, like against Peyton Manning.... but damn their offense was atrocious.

Yeah, it was the beginning of the end for truly great defenses (and not like today where "top 5 defense" just means you're marginally better than everyone else)... even the St. Louis Rams had to win like a 11-6 game in the NFCCG on their way to a SB victory.
