Sassy Squatch 07-25-2023 04:17 PM

Read about that. Pretty damn sad and assumedly he'll have to have heart surgery to fix whatever caused it.

KCJake 07-25-2023 04:30 PM

His dads still a b!tch

jerryaldini 07-25-2023 04:33 PM

Wow, two years in a row the USC meds had to handle cardiac arrest. Glad he's stable. Love to see him get a shot to play with his dad.

TLO 07-25-2023 04:40 PM

Very sad. Unfortunately this happens to thousands of young athletes every year and we don't hear about it. Life isn't fair sometimes.

In this situation, thankfully the training staff were able to respond quickly and it sounds like his condition is improving.

Major props to the training staff.

BigCatDaddy 07-25-2023 04:40 PM

Next season Lebron will probably flop and claim he is having one

Definitely sucks, but fortunate for him that medical personnel got to him as quickly as they did.

CaliforniaChief 07-25-2023 05:39 PM

I don't know the specifics of his care, but it's just another reminder why AEDs and CPR training is so important. Glad he's going to be ok. That had to be terrifying for his teammates/coaches, the staff, and of course his family.

And yet you derailed the thread first. You're not far from being restricted to DC. **** off.

Chieftain 07-25-2023 05:56 PM

He seems like a good kid, too. Well behaved and humble for having a famous dad.

Chieftain 07-25-2023 05:58 PM

Lebron's wife is very beautiful and classy. You don't find women like that often these days. Now compare her with Will Smith's wife which is the devil in disguise. That's why good family foundation is crucial to a child's upbringing.

BWillie 07-25-2023 06:01 PM

I really don't want to divert attention away from the topic, but i've often wondered if my son would still be with us if his episode happened on the basketball court instead of at a friends house on a Saturday night.

As much as i've never been a fan of Lebron, i can understand the fear and uncertainty he and his family is going through right now and i wish them all nothing but the best outcome and a long, happy and healthy life.

Probably so. Even if there isn't dedicated medical staff on standby, chances are there'll be SOMEBODY that can help.

Genuinely sorry to hear you lost your son to a similar situation.

I am so sorry to hear that you and your family went through that.

I do think you are right that if a cardiac event like this was to take place, that you can’t really ask for a better place (if this a cardiac event was to occur) than in a sporting or a medical venue.

Damn I'm so sorry to hear that. We lost my brother the summer after he graduated and that was 12 years ago this summer. The way it effected my mom is so sad. It legit changed the person she was and I don't think she ever recovered. I couldn't imagine losing a child.

A parent should NEVER have to bury their child. That's probably the most painful thing imaginable.

I've had to go two funerals where that's happened.

One was about a decade ago was someone who I grew up in the neighborhood with (his sister was friends with my sister). He was born with a brain tumor and eventually succumbed to it in his early 20's.

Another was last year when my friend died.

Seeing both parents and siblings grieve those days aren't something I think I'll forget anytime soon and don't wish that upon anyone.

Jamie 07-25-2023 06:39 PM

For the record, this is almost certainly not a heart attack. A heart attack (blockage of blood flow to the heart) is a possible cause of cardiac arrest (heart stops beating) but far from the only cause. This was probably due to some kind of arrhythmia, caused by either a genetic heart defect or over-training.

Injury and Violence Cause Most Deaths

The three leading causes of death for Americans in their 20s are tied to risky behavior and are largely preventable: accidents (unintentional injuries), homicide, and suicide. Together, these three causes accounted for 69 percent of the 42,000 deaths in this age group in 2007.2 Cancer and heart disease are the fourth and fifth most common causes, accounting for another 10 percent of deaths. Although they have lower overall death rates, American teenagers are also highly vulnerable to these injury- and violence-related deaths for some of the same reasons.3 In contrast, injuries and violence are responsible for less than 10 percent of the deaths of Americans of all ages, while heart disease, cancer, and stroke account for just over one-half of all deaths.

Why did you guys start mentioning golf in this Bronny James thread? I simply responded to it, didn't bring this up.

To answer your question, I do putt when I golf. I just hate putting and I am not good at it. Today I went 34-44 with six three putts. What can ya do? But some of the most enjoyable days are when nobody is on the course and I just fly around wack my ball onto the green and just leave them there for the next guy. Oh it's utter bliss.
