Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
Anybody go see this yet?
Took my son to see it today, and we both loved it. Probably the best TMNT movie since the original live action version. Strong Into the Spider-Verse vibes with the animation and more theatrical approach for the genre. |
I'll end up taking my son here in the next week or so, he is pretty excited about it. Even got a TMNT lunch box for school this year.
Glad to hear you both enjoyed it |
Will there be pizza?
|
My son is super excited for it, we have a wedding out of town this weekend or we'd definitely be going. Probably will see it next week/weekend.
|
I’m surprised Ninja Turtles is still hanging on.
Seems like they release a new cartoon or movie every 5-10 years. Just enough to stay relevant. I mean, it’s awesome, don’t get me wrong. TMNT was probably my biggest childhood craze next to Power Rangers. It’s just hard to believe they’re both still pretty big three decades later. |
I was the one kid that didn't like the Turtles growing up. Didn't like watching it, never had any of the toys.

What childhood fads were you into? |

No dinosaurs? Superheroes? Thundercats? He-Man? Gargoyles? |
I lived over in Japan when the first toys came out and I can still remember the store when we went to go buy some. Moms were fighting each other to get certain ones. I wish I still had them.

Who is everyone’s fave Ninja Turtle?

I have a couple NECA Gargoyles action figures. And some TMNT figures based off the comics not the cartoons.Yeah i'm a nerd. But i like sports too lol.

I’m always surprised to see Donny was anyone’s fave. I feel like he was the least popular.. unless you’re playing Turtles in Time ‘cause that staff was OP.
|
I've recently been rewatching the 03 series.
I grew up on the 80s show but 03 is a much better show over all and it goes to some dark places. I've also started collecting and reading the IDW run of TMNT. It's a great read if youre into that kind of thing. |

Dude can fight like the rest of 'em AND he's the brains. It's weird though, I didn't actually give a shit about his smarts when I was a kid, just like Beast who is my favorite X-Men character. But I will say, if you google some polls, Donny is more popular than you'd think. |
Nobody picks Beast as a favorite X-Man. The hell is wrong with you?

I do like the color purple as well. The staff is a cool weapon and I loved his voice actor in the live-action 90s flicks. Idk, something about his character just never vibed with me. I always like Raph because he was prob the best fighter. Then I grew up and realized he’s a douche so it’s gotta be Michelangelo. Guy’s just out here living his best life. He’d def be the most chill to hang with. He’s also named after the best Renaissance artist. |
Though I will say, nunchaku are ****ing worthless weapons. Y’all ever have a pair of those when you were kids?
I had these shitty hollow ones and I was still liable to bust myself upside the head at some point flailing those things around. Remember when we used to call them ‘numchucks’ cause we didn’t know any better? ROFL Good times.. |

We'll probably wait to stream it. It does appear to have a very talented array of actors doing voices.

I used to hate seeing Leo (or a guy like Wolverine) pull out the blades, you’re like “hell yeah, time to skewer some of these Foot Clan jamokes”, then he just cuts their gun in half and kicks them lol such a cocktease! Just a shitty result of most cartoons being aimed at kids. |
We’ve got 1 vote for Raph, 2 for Donny, 2 for Leo, and 1 for Mikey.
I was not expecting that.. |
Use to be Leo. Then it became Raphael.

Also, I was talking about as a kid. I should've said "was" not "is". If you were to ask me today, I'd say Gambit. |

Gambit is ****ing awesome.
Not to hijack the thread, but this YouTube short is really worth a watch if you like the character. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NegUHlzn_qs" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I saw it in 3D and it was better than I expected. Pretty fun movie.

Though I just looked it up and apparently the last ronin isn't connected to that continuity |
We saw it last night. It was really good, my son absolutely loved it. Hell even my wife loved it, she suggested going to see it again, which is really something we don't do often (and we do go to the movies a lot).
But my sons reaction was the best. And you have to understand we drove home from a wedding 6 hours yesterday, unpacked for 30 minutes & jumped back in to the car to go to the theater for a show that ended relatively late. He was so pumped after the movie, just talking a mile a minute about everything. He's generally very reserved, getting him that excited about virtually anything is really hard to do. He started watching the 2012 Nickelodeon show on Netflix as soon as he got home last night. Also I was always a Leo guy, my son is definitely a Mikey fan. And Gambit was my favorite X-Men character. He was awesome in the old 80's cartoon. |
I think my biggest drawback is the animation style, I'm still partial to how it looked in the 80s.
|
Unexpectedly good. Was not planning to like it that much.

Still have all of my original TMNT action figures from late 80's/early 90's. Prob have at least 50 of them.
Have the Sewer lair, Technodrome, The Blimp, the Van, the pizza disc shooting tank. Wonder how much some of that stuff is worth now. They're not in orig packaging but always had my things well kept, not broken etc. The first two live action TMNT movies are the only ones that matter. The Batman vs TMNT animated movie is a good one too. As much of a TMNT kids I was growing up, I have no desire to see this film. A fat black April? No thx. |

It's nowhere NEAR as bad as Hugo Weaving voicing Megatron instead of Frank Welker, and yet, I watched the Transformers movies. |

If weren't trying to make the Dragonzord flute sound with your mouth, then you weren't a 90's kid.

I remember I had the sword from when he became the white ranger. The pommel was a white tiger IIRC. It was so badass. You couldn’t tell me shit when I had that sword.
Though I was definitely partial to the Green Ranger with his Godzilla Zord. |
Pretty sure I have the Green Ranger episodes on VHS somewhere.
|
The one where he beat all the Power Rangers’ asses by himself?
Speaking of 90s cartoons/shows that have aged well, Power Rangers is NOT one of them lol I can still watch the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie for the nostalgia kick (plus Ivan Ooze was way better than he had any right to be), but the show is actual garbage. |
Yep. Even somehow beat the Megazords ass with his own. (Dragonzord?)
|
LMAO The show was pretty shit back then, to be fair, but in an endearing way.
|
Voltron would kick Megazord's ass any day of the week.
|
We need a Last Ronin open world TMNT game, similar to the Arkham Batman games.
Hopefully the rumors are true that they're making one. |

In a year with fantastic animated movies (Puss in Boots, Spiderman, and now TMNT), this might have been the best. Ice Cube killed it as Superfly, music was great, honestly the only low point was some of the character designs like Splinter and April. They wanna woke it up and race swap April that's whatever; the voice actress from The Bear did an amazing job, but there was no reason to make her look like a frumpy middle aged woman.

This is streaming on Paramount+ for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.
I thought it was a lot of fun and especially loved the music. The No Diggity and Superfly scenes were the most memorable. |
