Working from home is great unless.........
your internet and TV provider suffers an outage. Cox hit the skids about 80 minutes ago.
If not back up, I'll go to my favorite local bar Fate and work from there while I drink alcohol. Just won't make my usual phone calls. Win-win! |

Most people probably just tether to their phone.

My working from home is great unless... story is a little different. My 84 year old dad has started to struggle some with day to day stuff. So, since I work from "home" I am now commuting again after 4 years so I can work from his place every day. It is great for him but not nearly so much for me. |
Ask Fate if they're coming out with their barrel aged King Sized Candy Bar Stout this year.... they didn't last year and they haven't updated their FB page in like 3 months. :cuss:
|
When that happens I take a nap. Win win

Last year was the first time in recent years they didn't make the King Sized version (red cans, ~11-12%, barrel aged)... no idea why or if it's coming back this year, but IMO it's easily the best beer they produce. It's usually released right around Halloween, so I'd expect a FB announcement any day now. |

How much is it to get into a good co-working space?

I am actually going to buy the gear for Starlink so I can have both eventually. We plan on living a couple of months in our 5th wheel down in Florida during winter. Going to use Starlink during that time for work. Just pay for Starlink when I need it.

Like it was happening weekly. But there wasn't/isn't a viable alternative for broadband in my area. Don't you just love the free market monopoly? Having no competition, they didn't have much incentive to fix their shit. At&t nominally provided broadband, but it was worse. When it did go down, the cellular phone network got overwhelmed with traffic and became completely useless. |

Don’t you have any FB friends, Boomer??

That's just bonus focus time. It's kind of freeing as long as it doesn't happen very often.

I haven't been there in a while, but tend to go to the south Scottsdale location... IIRC, they've had slightly different menu options that I tend to go for. |

I went with TMobile Home Internet for a bit, but found out it was actually worse, and had to crawl back to Sparklight. :# |

I have had Google Fiber since they established themselves here years ago and have had years of good service and good interactions when I needed their customer service.

In the Summer, I take my sons to the gym, pool, trampoline park, etc. and just work from there. Modern day phone hot spots are fast enough to get the basic's done.
I'm a software engineer so I wouldn't be doing much developing over it. |

A contractor cut the line and the need to redo a whole large section of relaying fiber underground. Quite a cluster****. |

His point wasn't a humble brag. He was countering the point that nicer neighborhoods have better internet service choices. I'm in the same boat. We have the choice of ATT Uverse or nothing (besides shitty cell internet) |
I’ve been working from home since 2016. Only had one outage. Using Frontier broadband.

In my neighborhood every house is worth at least 1.5mm and we have nine choices of internet providers.

Does anyone have 5G home internet from Verizon or T-Mobile?

Dude why are you arguing? Just to argue? You think Dafsce is FOS too? WTF? Most of those houses are 800-1500 sq feet. And yes, the only place that’s “most desirable” is downtown and on the water. Just like every other city in America. |
Late this afternoon my Cox reappeared functioning fully.

I was the first to move from a traditional district office to home for a fortune 500. Tough working through the transition with staff
But the new office at home was a challenge as we had no high speed. Company paid for DSL. Managed staff in 22 states and actually made the change great But when it goes down.....kick back and relax, aint your fault. |
