Our 2nd best defender

There's been an interesting discussion of who our 2nd best player is on defense. A lot of people think it's Nick Bolton. A lot of people think it's Trent McDuffie.

Well I think it might not be either of them. After last night I think that it just might be Karlaftis. Coming into last night Karlaftis was 6th in the league in pressures. He got at least 4 last night, maybe 5 or 6. The guy straight up destroyed a lot of the Jets offense in the first quarter then again in the 4th.

Him and Chris forced Zach Wilson to throw the ball away quickly. The Jets had success for awhile but Chris getting doubled allowed Karlaftis to wreak havoc and Spags simply adjusted in the 2nd half.

I know he's the king of the "close but no cigar" pass rush. He missed a few sacks, but nobody's perfect.

What do you think?

The pass rush was.....underwhelming last night?

Am I being to hard on it? It didn't seem to get there much.

Hard for me to pick, but I love having quality players pretty much everywhere on the defense.

Wilson and their offensive gameplan deserve credit: they were getting passes off FAST. It was uncharacteristic. The Jets definitely played their best offense of the season... probably of Zach Wilson's career.

As of last year, I would've said that it was either Bolton or Sneed. I still think Sneed is great, but I think the discussion now is Bolton or McDuffie.

Pretty much everyone on the defense is good, though. This is happy fun time.

Aren't the Jets supposed to be, you know, good?

Their OL hasn't been to my knowledge.

Why are you so anti-gay?

And I think Chenal should be on the list over Tranquill.

I like Gay’s play. I just literally can’t name anyone on that list I’d put him over.

ThyKingdomCome15 10-02-2023 12:43 PM

As amazing as Bolton is our LB'ers have done an impressive job in picking up the slack. I wouldn't trade this group for any other. Chenal is balling out as well.

Molitoth 10-02-2023 02:24 PM

It's Sneed.

scho63 10-02-2023 02:39 PM

From 1971 until Mahomes was drafted, we used to discuss who are the LEAST horrible guys on the team. There would be only 2-3 good players MAX on each year's team.

Now we have trouble picking out 2-3 bad guys.

UnBelizeable how far we have cum.

George Liquor 10-02-2023 02:43 PM

Misclicked Karlaftis. Oh well.

MahomesMagic 10-02-2023 02:46 PM

I wasn't jazzed about the pick but I was wrong.

It's Bolton.

HemiEd 10-02-2023 03:02 PM

I voted Bolten, but it is really a toss up between him and McDuffie. There is so much young talent on this team it is a wonderful thing to enjoy.

Heck you could throw Gay, Chanel, Sneed and Reid in there and not be far off.

dlphg9 10-02-2023 03:06 PM

McDuffie is one of the best CBs in the league and Bolton is one of the best LBs. CB is much more important than LB, so I went with The Duffman. Love them both and also love Furious George, but Bolton and Duff are better atm. If George keeps on improving his skill set, then he could take over the 2nd spot. It's exciting to talk about a dangerous legitimate defense.

Reid hasn't impressed me this year, but I am an idiot and could be swayed to like him. Last year he came on strong at the end of the year.

Reid has been excellent. He's not a top level elite safety but he is a very good player.

wachashi 10-02-2023 03:16 PM

I think if you ask Spags it's:

1.) Jones
2.) Sneed
3.) McDuffie
4.) Bolton

McDuffie and Bolton could swap depending on matchup.

Yeah, he made a couple very good plays yesterday. I was like, "oh heck yeah!"

Please don't ask me for the specifics, because, quite honestly I can't remember the details. It was a stressful game unlike last week.

lcarus 10-02-2023 03:21 PM

I like Bolton just for the fact that when he gets his hands on a guy the play is over. He's the most sure tackler we've had since DJ.

Bolton has vice grips for hands and intuition as to where the ball is going. It's a lethal combo.

Couch-Potato 10-02-2023 03:41 PM

Sneed?

BossChief 10-02-2023 04:25 PM

McDuffie doesn’t have any weakness where Bolton does seem to be less effective in coverage. For that reason, I went with McDuffie.
