NW MO beats Northern State SD

65-47

NW started the year ranked #1

BWillie 11-10-2023 06:35 PM

I can't wait for that home and home vs Arizona every year.

Pablo 11-10-2023 06:44 PM

'Sucky up 38-30 on Texas A&M Commerce at half

LMAO

Triple C starting off hot hot hot

BWillie 11-10-2023 06:48 PM

I feel bad for Arizona fans. They will have to watch Caleb Love chuck up bad shots over and over again derailing their season. That's what he does.

Pablo 11-14-2023 10:57 AM

It’s that time again folks. Kansas by a dozen tonight. Would love to see dook lose as well

I was at the game Friday. Funny you didn’t post the final score.

Kansas should win. Kentucky is without 3 7 footers. Only way this game is close is if Dickinson gets in foul trouble.

Looking forward to the season. Should be a fun one.

Because nobody cares if Kentucky ends up beating texas commerce by 30 or 40 or whatever it was.

It's still funny to only be up 8 at the half against a university that nobody knew existed until last weekend.

Huh?

If you’re going to troll, troll better instead of being disingenuous. I am fully aware that they were down 13 in the 1st half because I was at Rupp the entire game.

I went with my friends from Alabama who had never been to Lexington before and then went to the football game Saturday.

The lack of size is, in part, what got them this lead. UK's guards are running circles around KU's bigs and Dickinson looks completely out of place defensively.

Wagner is doing absolutely nothing right now. Main damage is coming from Reeves and Dillingham with Thiero helping as well.

If I were Self, I’d feed Dickinson in the paint against Mitchell to exploit UK’s personnel.

Becuase KU is playing a big who can't move/cover any of these guys. More size wouldn't help UK in this matchup the way it's playing out right now.

UK’s outrebounding KU right now (which shouldn’t be happening).

More size would help to mitigate some of the damage Dickinson is doing. Edwards is also doing nothing.

Don’t think UK will be as hot from 3, but unless Dickinson goes off, I feel OK.

Yeah, tonight’s effort was promising. Inexperience showed at times along but nothing too concerning. Wagner and Edwards had off nights.

Get Bradshaw and Oneyenso healthy and this team is dangerous.

I'm feeling better about them than the last few years. Still a problem in these kind of games where guys want to play hero ball at the end. If they had stuck to what they were doing the entire game, that's a W. When they get an inside presence, they should be tough.

Gotta learn from it and move on.

Dillingham and Sheppard ****ed up big time at the end, but they wouldn’t have been in a position to win without them.

I like what this team can be if they get their bigs back.

After what happened at the end of the half, i mentioned to my wife how bad they are at end of half/game play. I honestly can't remember the last time they had the ball with a chance to win (in this case tie) as the clock was running out, and they made a shot. It's been sooooo long. I've seen plenty of flubs though, tonite included.

I honestly don't recall that they've ever made a shot at the end of the game to win it under Cal.

KC_Connection 11-14-2023 11:14 PM

Reeves going 3 for 17 from three was quite something to watch. Way too much hero ball for those guards down the stretch and KU's experience carried them.

Yeah, i'm not gonna get down on the guys. They played hard and smart for about 37 minutes. If they learn from it and get some size back, this is going to be a good team.

I've seen it a lot over the years and it can be frustrating. It's just something, with Cal's teams, that you hope they figure out by the time the tournament rolls around.

I think Dillingham and Reeves being streaky compounds with Edwards and Wagner doing dog shit exacerbated the volume misses. I don’t think Reeves should be the main shooter, but if no one else is making a shot, might as well let him rip it.

Reeves did nothing vs Kansas St., but so did Toppin and no one else would take 3s. Gotta live with both the good and bad on volume shooters.

Reeves took a good look at the end from 3 that I no problem with. It just didn’t go in.

Precisely. Dillingham got killed on screens and Sheppard took a dumb 3 at the end.

Learn and move on. Miami in two weeks will be a nice shot at redemption.

Chiefspants 11-14-2023 11:28 PM

Typical Kentucky high end team. All the talent in the world, enough to win it, just a question on whether Cal can get it in sync before the season's end.

I can't remember the last time he had a team with this ceiling, to be honest with you.

2016-2017 with Fox, Monk, and Adebayo.

This team should be fine come March. Just really ****ing young and without a true big right now.

I was thinking somewhere between the '14 and '16 team. Not as good as '14 but potentially better than '16.

2014-2015 had a mix of experienced players and talented freshmen (Booker was coming off the bench).

This team isn’t that good, but it should hold its weight against 2016-2017 depending on how Bradshaw develops. This team may be even better than that depending on how Dillingham, Sheppard, and Wagner develop as well. I’d take all of them over Briscoe offensively now and TBD if any of them can be as good as Fox. They don’t need to be as natural of a shooter as Monk (who was streaky as hell), but if they can defend they’ll be better than him overall if they can replicate even 70-80% of what he was offensively.

Need to see how they play defensively.

That’s a Calipari thing. He won’t ramp down the hero ball because he thinks it will hurt recruiting (IMO). And he’s right I think. He needs to recruit well enough that coaching doesn’t matter. And with this class he may have. But yeah, hero ball isn’t going away.

Sheppard took a dumb shot but he needs more minutes. He’s a better pure shooter with a tighter more reproducible stroke. He can really create space on the lanes for the athletes. That kid isn’t the flashy player the other guys are but he brings a lot to the table.

Seems like it. Cal's first couple teams were in the mid 100s (in all of D1) in atts per game but from then it's been more often than not in the 300s. This year they're 12th in att and 4th (before tonights game, i believe) in makes and they hit 16 tonight, so they could be a bit higher than that. It helps when you have several guys that can/have been hitting them pretty consistently.

Big test coming up against Miami on Tuesday.
