SAMMY HAGAR, MICHAEL ANTHONY, JASON BONHAM And JOE SATRIANI Announce 'The Best Of All Worlds' 2024 Tour

Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Sammy Hagar is embarking on the long-awaited "The Best Of All Worlds" 2024 tour. Hagar will be joined by rock heavyweights and longtime bandmates Michael Anthony (bass, backing vocals),Jason Bonham (drums) and revealed on Nov 14 on SiriusXM's "The Howard Stern Show" that Joe Satriani, one of the best guitar players in the world, will complete the band. Produced by Live Nation and featuring special guests LOVERBOY, the 28-date tour will commence on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida and will conclude on August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri. Pre-sales begin on Wednesday, November 15 at 10 a.m. General on-sale begins Friday, November 17 at 10 a.m. local. For tickets and more details, go to RedRocker.com.

"We're gonna go deep into the VAN HALEN catalog," Hagar told "The Howard Stern Show". "If you're gonna go deep into the VAN HALEN catalog, you need Joe Satriani."

Although Hagar and Anthony normally play five or six VAN HALEN songs" on the road with THE CIRCLE, Sammy told Stern they are planning to only play "five or six of my songs" alongside VAN HALEN classics and deep cuts.

"When we go out next year in July, it will be almost exactly 20 years since Mike and I did a reunion with Ed [Eddie Van Halen] and Al [Alex Van Halen] in '04," Hagar said. "Mike and I just said, 'We can't wait another 20 years. How long can I even sing these songs? How long can I do this stuff? I just thought it's time to serve the fans."

"There's stuff we're going to do on this next tour that we haven't played since that tour in 2004," Anthony added.

Regarding the challenge of learning legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen's parts, Satriani said: "There are things that are so iconic, you have to nail it. But if you go deep with what he did live, he never played the same thing twice. He kept evolving; he kept pushing. He'd do the recorded version a little bit, but then he moved on.

"It's a daunting task when you do the deep dive into what he did," he continued. "But it's good to start at the beginning, and then you just learn all his little improvs and you get the idea of what he was trying to do. It's thrilling; it's fun."

The tour follows on the heels of the chart-topping success of "The Collection II", the box set released October 6 featuring newly remastered versions of the four consecutive #1 albums released during the Hagar era of VAN HALEN: "5150" (1986),"OU812" (1988),"For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" (1991) and "Balance" (1995). A reminder to fans of the arsenal of hits, many which haven't been played live since the band's 2004 reunion tour. Collectively, Anthony, Satriani and Bonham have played together in nearly every phase of Hagar's career including VAN HALEN, CHICKENFOOT and THE CIRCLE, so fans can expect a setlist which draws from some of the biggest rock anthems of the last four decades, including "Finish What Ya Started", "5150", "Your Love is Driving Me Crazy", "Best of Both Worlds", "Poundcake", "Sexy Little Thing", "One Way To Rock", "Right Now", "Good Enough", "Eagles Fly" and more. They've also enlisted legendary Australian musician Rai Thistlethwayte on keyboard and backing vocals. The tour represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this band of brothers deliver one of the most legendary hits-packed live shows of their career.

"It's crazy to think that it'll be 20 years since Mikey and I played these songs with VAN HALEN on the 04' 'Best Of Both Worlds' tour," Hagar said in a press release. "With Joe on board, we can take a deeper dive into those years. We're going to touch on some hits from my entire career but seeing fans old and new really embrace the new collection set off something in Mikey and I. We were at my Birthday Bash in Cabo for my 76th and looked at each other and high fived, like 'let's do it.' We pulled out a couple of them and it was an instant lovefest with the fans from our first riffs. The music we created is going to outlive us all. They deserve to be heard so it's time we go out and serve the fans that music, while we still can."

I can't imagine why anybody would hate Sammy Hagar. He's always struck me as very up front about shit and down to earth. I saw him with Van Halen on the OU812 tour 30+ years ago and it was a fantastic show.

I'd have no problem paying to see this line up. Satriani was really bringing it in that video.

Agreed, but there are quite a few red rocker haters out there.

Saw Sammy this summer. Can't do the high stuff anymore but the music was very good. Had Mikey sing all the high parts.

Dartgod 11-17-2023 11:24 AM

My sister lives in St. Louis and already bought tickets for this, so I grabbed a pair for the wife and I. Should be a great show.

Sammy may well be the coolest, most down to earth guy in rock n roll... anyone who doubts that should watch a few of his "Rock n Roll Roadtrips" on youtube

But he was simply ALL wrong for Van Halen

While I admit I do like their earlier stuff better, I wouldn't say he was all wrong for VH; just different. For starters, Sammy was always a much better singer than Dave, and he could sing the early stuff just fine. Good luck to Roth ever trying to sing Hagar stuff. And who's to say that the band wouldn't have altered their newer stuff had they not parted ways with Dave.

I guess I'll also admit that my opinion has softened a bit over the decades because Sammy's so cool and Roth is a gigantic douche.

I think it was Billy Joel who said something along the lines of "I didn't think about singing these songs in my 60s when I wrote them in my 20s." Old age is a bitch - for most, the voice goes to hell along with everything else. At least he recognizes his limitations.

Bowser 11-17-2023 04:17 PM

I'd make the trip to St. Louis for this

I'm totally cool with Sammy lovers, that guy definitely rocks

His Rock n Roll Roadtrips are just fantastic, he'll go and hang and jam with anyone from John Mellencamp, Chad Smith from RHCP, Rick Springfield, Zach Wylde, Rob Halford, Ted Nugent and everyone in between at their homes or on their tour bus

He's a fantastic guy who'd I'd love to hang with one night in Cabo

I just honestly believe that Sammy is better without Eddie, and vice versa

Sammy is straight ahead
Eddie took angles
Dave had a swing that just worked better
Or something like that

Easy 6 11-17-2023 08:48 PM

Sammy can still howl like a wolf into his 70s, he's legit...

Read the whole thing at the link, I just posted the review part....

5. Any additional overall thoughts about the tour so far?

Rolli: I’m trying to refrain from passing too much judgment yet, because the tour just started and mediocre YouTube footage obviously doesn’t do the band justice. My main critique so far is that they’re playing “Judgment Day” too slow. Hagar’s sounding mostly solid, even before you consider that he’s 76 years old, and Anthony is absolutely crushing it with his backing vocals. Hopefully the band will continue to gel over the next couple weeks and we’ll see some tighter arrangements, quicker tempos and more onstage comfort. Overall, they’re off to a promising start. Hagar is a partial steward of the Van Halen legacy, and I appreciate him doing his part to keep it alive.

Wardlaw: Any Van Halen fan can spend hours dissecting the good and the bad about the set list and the show. When you consider that it’s a set that caters to both the hardcore fans and the majority of fans who might only know the hits, Hagar has pulled off the difficult task of putting together a show that really does have something for everyone. Jason Bonham’s gigantic kit is Alex Van Halen-worthy, and the addition of Ral Thistlethwayte has added some fun chemistry to the mix. My favorite part of the night so far, however, is a simple moment: Hagar and Satriani recreating the guitar duel that Sammy once shared with Eddie on “(There’s Only) One Way to Rock.” That alone is worth leaving the house.

Wilkening: It’s cool to see Sammy in front of a more modern stage show again. Adding a live keyboardist seems smart. I always wish he’d play more late-’70s and early-’80s stuff — “Trans Am,” “Love of Money,” “Growing Pains” — but I get that I’m in the minority there.

Bowser 07-19-2024 06:21 PM

I've said this somewhere on here in the past -

I saw Van Halen with Sammy on the 5150 tour (I believe) while I was stationed in Wichita. They opened the show with Sammy's "One Way to Rock", and the energy of everyone going nuts with VH playing a Hagar song to kick it off, and ****ing crushing the song at that, has not been felt since but for a time or three. It was amazing, and to see Sammy and Satch do the duel would absolutely be reason enough to go see it.

I never got tix for this, but I may have to just suck it up and pay scalper prices to get in and see it.

SAMMY HAGAR's 'Best Of All Worlds' Tour To Return As Las Vegas Residency In April/May 2025

Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Sammy Hagar today announced that "The Best Of All Worlds", his critical and commercial hit summer 2024 tour, will launch in 2025 as "The Best Of All Worlds Tour - The Residency" at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tour will reunite the rock powerhouse band of Sammy, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Kenny Aronoff with a new "only in Las Vegas" setlist running April 30 through May 17, 2025. The tour represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this band of brothers deliver one of the most legendary hits-packed live shows of their careers.

This highly anticipated residency will showcase Sammy's career-spanning hits, from seminal breakouts with MONTROSE, his iconic solo hits, and a deep dive into his tenure with VAN HALEN, CHICKENFOOT, and everything in between. Presented in partnership by Live Nation and MGM Resorts International, the residency will be custom-designed for Dolby Live, giving fans an intimate, high-energy concert experience in the 5,200-seat entertainment venue.

"I'm so looking forward to this residency and being able to stay in one place so we can get the sound and production completely dialed in," said Hagar. "It also allows the band to experiment with the setlist every night — that's why it's going to be exclusive to Las Vegas. Instead of traveling all day on tour when there's no time to rehearse and make changes. I plan on digging deeper into the VAN HALEN catalog, and my solo career, MONTROSE and CHICKENFOOT, as well. The fans are in for a lot of surprises."
