Reidball. It's gotta go.

What is Reidball?

Reidball is a wide receiver by committee offense that Andy Reid employs that often takes the best contributing personnel off the football field so that he can run packages with other receivers with plays specifically designed for them, yet cannot execute, when the same play could be successfully executed had he kept the best personnel on the field.

Reidball has been an unmitigated Alex Smith to Junior Hemingway level shitshow thusfar this season. It has not worked, and it will not work moving forward. Reidball offense has resulted in a league high 26 drops this season, and a complete inability to produce any points offensively in the second halves of football games, often due to better personnel suited for the task standing on the sideline at the snap of the football.

Rashee Rice should not come off the field unless he is exhausted or injured. He is far and away the best receiver on the team, and Andy is content to put this dude on a pitch count. Hardman is not being used at all how he was used last year. What does he have since being picked up again, one jet sweep and a couple little bubble screens?

Reidball also embraces the cowardice of punting from the enemy 40 on 4th and manageable to save the epic field position totals of 17-19 yards, knowing that the offense's best chance at points is staring him dead in the face. Andy field the best defense he's ever seen in KC and still refuses to press the issue offensively.

The Reidball experiment has failed.

Andy Reid needs to scrap his alternate packages designed specifically for players that cannot handle the complexity of catching a football, and move to a traditional best personnel on the field at all times WR 1,2,3,4 approach.

Rice should never come off the field for Moore or MVS. Kelce shouldn't come off the field for Bell. Pacheco shouldn't be off the field for Clyde.

Better personnel decisions must be made, snd someone search Andy's wife's purse for his balls on 4th and manageable.

We have a monstrous God damn defense, and we forget how to manage personnel and call offense in response?

FloridaMan88 11-21-2023 12:56 AM

“Reidball” did win 2 Super Bowls.

It’s the WR’s… simple as that.

A Salt Weapon 11-21-2023 12:58 AM

That last punt from the 39-40something range was brutal. I said it when we punted and watched it bounce into the end zone, why? So I’m two plays they’ll be right where they’d be if we don’t get it. Lo and behold 2 plays later and they are further than that spot anyways. And then a TD. And we lost.

We beat the Niners by putting Hill on the bench for Pringle? Wow I need to re watch that.

Watson was there to make a play to down it at the two, but inexplicably decided to let it bounce. He had nothing to lose by trying to down it. Just another example of lack of football smarts. He led the Chiefs with bonehead plays tonight.

Justman59 11-21-2023 01:15 AM

This is the new 2023 Reidball. The one that pampers the wide receivers.

"Oh, you just caught a 5-yard pass." "Come out and get some water." "You poor thing." "I won't put you back out there." "We will save you for the next game, and the next."

"I am going to run a play now for that chubby guy we call Clyde." "It's the only play we have, and he will be out of the game too." "Save some water."

Reidball

ThyKingdomCome15 11-21-2023 02:03 AM

So if MVS catches that ball then Andy is a genius? Got it.

It was said in another thread but worth repeating; they won’t do shit.

HonestChieffan 11-21-2023 05:34 AM

Drops and fumbles.

Receivers and Kelce own this loss

chiefzilla1501 11-21-2023 05:41 AM

Reid all is also to run the ball 2 times per game. The defense gave us the run and we took it. Was also brilliant to start using Toney more as an option and gadget guy. It wasn’t too badly called of a game. Mahomes was more decisive than we’ve seen him this season which is still way more decisive than most of his career. Reid had a real good pass/run balance.

I mean the rotations drive me crazy but it has started to feel like the alternative is to just sub in another guy who’s going to run bad routes with a 50/50 chance of catching the ball.

Also Reidball isn’t a thing. The guy is a legend. They made a mistake on WRs. 2 super bowls and a 7-3 record despite that gives you the grace to make mistakes

InChiefsHeaven 11-21-2023 05:54 AM

The receivers just don't get open like 90% of the time. Mahomes has had plenty of time, the oline is playing really well for the most part. But he's running around and having NOBODY open at all too often.

Turnovers by the players in the red zone. Dropped potential winning TD… The players were position to win..

He'll deny it, but it's absolutely true. Just like how he wishes Andy weren't coaching the team, another thing he denies.

You say all of this, yet it's execution by the skill position guys that has us with three losses when we realistically should be undefeated right now.

It's the players, and it's damned well NOT the coach or his scheme. I'm frustrated as hell myself but come on with this.

Chiefnj2 11-21-2023 07:15 AM

The game plan was good. Very good. They ran it well on the Eagles almost doubling Philly's season average.

Two red zone turnovers were not the fault of Reid or Nagy, and the dropped passes that killed drives and took points off the board weren't their fault either.

Thread fail.

At this point this season it is what it is. Next year. Draft two receivers.

Hey RealSNR, ready to load your diaper?

Let's talk about your favorite thing. Situational football! Let's discuss Andy punting from the 40 to save 19 yards field position on 4th and manageable. AGAIN.

Hold your noses folks, this one's gonna be a doozy.

crayzkirk 11-21-2023 09:45 AM

Andy may be able to draw up plays that get players open however most of what the Chiefs do is pure Patrick Mahomes. No one is going to be successful when they can't rely on their teammates; Patrick has had Travis, that's changing and no amount of scheming to get players open or saying I'm going to fix that will change it. You can't teach fast or smart and our WRs are neither.

Eleazar 11-21-2023 10:09 AM

Receivers who aren’t very good need to at least do the minimum of catching the ball.

Others need to stop getting silly penalties.

If those two happen, the team is fine. We still have glaring needs, but we could be considered legitimate contenders .

FlaChief58 11-21-2023 10:36 AM

This shit isn't solely on Andy. Vatch should have picked up a reliable target in free agency. My guess is that he figured Mahomes could make good recievers out of grocery baggers and it blew up in his face.
Now we're sitting here with no way to improve that group this year. Sure we'll make the playoffs, but I doubt we make a deep run. The thing that pisses me off most about it is that we've wasted a year of Mahomes and Kelce. I'm guessing Kelce hangs them up after this season so he can pursue his other interests without beating his body up more that it already is. If so, Vatch won't be able to go bpa in the draft and will have to reach for a couple of playmakers. This is feeling more and more like it's going to be a mini rebuild next season

Lmfao.

So I'm now the ONLY poster on CP to use REIDTARD for Andy Reid?

I didn't coin full Reidtard. Someone else did, many others used it during his numerous gaffes during his KC tenure. Well earned, and deserved for every one of his utterly braindead borderline catatonic coaching collapses. Winning a superbowl later, because you got the best player maybe EVER to fall in your lap doesn't erase it, and let's be honest, 2 superbowl wins out of 5 straight AFC title appearances with aforementioned best player maybe ever, ain't ****ing great bruh. But you're still in battered Chiefs fan bruised pussy syndrome and the guy that got it done is now beyond reproach for you, and you can't see objectively that the job he's done with Mahomes thusfar, he's failed to seal the deal more than he's gotten it done, which falls right in line with Andy's full coaching history.

But you're a Reid slobbing fanboy that defends Andy like he's his dying mother beset by evil.

If I called Andy a coward for punting from the 40, it can't just be a situation where I'd like Andy to find his balls and you know, maybe pay attention to the ****ing game we are all seeing, and don't take the ball out of again...the best player maybe EVERs hands to save a measly 20 ****ing yards with a ferocious defense. No it must mean I want him fired.

Christ you're ****ing reidtarded actually. It should be the name of the mental disorder for all of you blind homer fanboys that can't face the fact that not only is Andy not perfect, he's a far cry from it.

He's got a lot of warts. He's always had them. 15 has masked a lot of them.

But hey, go on pounding your chest about the greatest offensive mind in NFL history averaging 5 points in the second half struggling to solve the mystery of 3rd and 1.

dirk digler 11-21-2023 11:42 AM

While I agree with your premise on the WR's usage you may not be aware but for years they have been load managing Kelce. He typically plays 75% of the snaps to keep him fresh and injury free for the most part.

Also every team rotates RB's now so that isn't an issue they just need to find a replacement for MEH.

If only they had _______ at HC, who has never made a mistake in their life and will also catch all the balls receivers drop and push defensemen back onside, they'd never lose another game and would have won 5 straight Super Bowls!

Rainbarrel 11-21-2023 11:47 AM

xztop123 11-21-2023 11:51 AM

Lol we dominated the eagles. We had two red one turnovers and a dropped 6 pts

We easily won that game. Not worried at all.

Also one loss means nothiny overall because afc west is garbage

Rainbarrel 11-21-2023 11:53 AM

Eagles are the #1 team in the league. You could argue the Ravens if you want. I would not

Red Dawg 11-21-2023 12:07 PM

Fire Andy is a stupid asessment after 2 SB wins. Players lose games not coaches. HC may make bad calls and place players in bad positions but coaches don't throw picks, don't fumble, don't drop passes and don't commit penalties. They also don't run routes like shit and be in the wrong place. These are the reasons we have lost 3 games.

Veach picked up a F/A who caught 57 balls on 70 targets from Danny Dimes last season and who led the NFL in WR 3rd down conversion rate. Veach isn’t the one keeping him on the bench.

So Mahomes and Kelce are responsible for two red zone turnovers and Watson and MVS accounted for several crucial drops, including a 4th and 25 conversion and a go ahead TD....but it's Reid's fault?

LMAO

Reidball is usually winning ball.

But sometimes I hate the process. Why do we never close out a game when we're dominating and have a 2 possession or more lead. We almost always let the other team come back. Chiefs usually win anyway but not always. It's super rare that we actually win the game comfortably. Wins are wins. I get that. But god damn. For ****ing ONCE it'd be nice to step on the other teams throat. Not just the frickin Bears.

Ask how the Ravens feel now about crushing all these teams compared to how they'll feel after they lose in the wildcard or divisional round.

The moving of the goalposts constantly cracks me up.

Andy Reid won't run the football!

Oh. Well... I mean-

Andy Reid just wants a committee at WR! (a season and a half after Hill got like 150 targets)

Andy Reid's time management is terrible! (dig that 10 point swing in two minutes at the end of the first half)

I mean, come on.

The players are the problem here not coaching.

It was a pretty perfectly called game.

I don't know if MVS and Watson just choked or what. My suspicion is that's exactly what happened. Just mentally choked in the big moment.

I also think it wasn't an ideal night to catch the ball.

I'm encouraged by a lot of things we saw against the best team in the league.

If the running game and defense are that good come January, we'll be a tough out.

Well, I hate to swing too far on one game, and I'm a patient man, but I kind of had that game circled as the game where we'd see what was what with the WR corps.

Wasn't good.

We'll be a tough out, you're right. But you can't leave like multiple TD's on the field and expect to win when your WR's just refuse to actually catch the ball.

Without those drops, we hang a 40 burger on Philly.

I had the Eagles game circled as a loss when the schedule came out… Revenge game for them and we were a drop away from winning… Hopefully less drops in the playoffs…

Maybe I'll try to figure out WTF I did to make it work a few months back, when apparently I didn't save any notes. :banghead:

Reidball has taken us to 3 Super Bowls, and 2 wins

Just get him some damn receivers, and "Reidball" will get us another 2-3

The game plan was good. Very good. They ran it well on the Eagles almost doubling Philly's season average.

Two red zone turnovers were not the fault of Reid or Nagy, and the dropped passes that killed drives and took points off the board weren't their fault either.

Thread fail.

NAILED IT !!

Andy did really good playcalling today. No cute stuff in short yardage and when he needed to run we ran. Great win

I’ll take Reid balling to another SB even if it has a few hair pulling tantrums along the way.

Second-half play calling with a lead is vanilla! Seemed like Reid kept pulling out kill shots the haters claim he saves for the playoffs.
