Eleazar 12-11-2023 08:45 AM

A QB1 can't lose it like that. It was a bad moment for him. I understand why he's so frustrated, but that's likely to hurt the team going forward.

nychief 12-11-2023 08:46 AM

Who gives a shit?

rydogg58 12-11-2023 08:46 AM

About to get ****ed? The refs have already wiped their dicks off on the bedsheet, smoked a cigarette, and tossed a wad of crumpled cash on the nightstand.

Carl Cheffers laughs at the word, "about".

Mr_Tomahawk 12-11-2023 08:46 AM

How will he afford to pay the inevitable fine?

They're literally not getting any calls as it is.

Maybe this is how you tank for better WRs in today's NFL. Work it!

I was thinking a hefty fine.

Agreed. I always thought it was stupid that players/coaches have to just shut up and take it or risk being fined. They have every right to voice their opinion without being fined for daring to speak out.

Coochie liquor 12-11-2023 08:54 AM

Probably suspend them immediately while Von still suits up and collects a check.

mnchiefsguy 12-11-2023 08:54 AM

Won't even be a hefty fine. Andy has a stellar reputation in the league, and Mahomes is a model citizen.

Fine them both 10k and move on. At the end of the day, the NFL will not want too much attention on this--they like some attention to keep interest, but not too much to ruin the reputation of the shield.

I disagree. While Mahomes may have been directing his outburst towards the official, I really think he was indirectly letting his team have it. He has personally taken the blame for teammates mistakes time and time again. A trait that is very admirable. But it’s time for everyone to step up their game. His outburst was justified in my mind. Letting the ref take the brunt of his frustration was the way to do it IMO.

Rainbarrel 12-11-2023 09:06 AM

I went to suspension because outside of an especially ludicrous fine in the millions of dollars (which the NFL has never fined a single player) it's all a drop in the bucket.

$10K or 100K doesn't matter.

I joked last night in a thread that he'd be suspended four games.

But in all seriousness, considering he didn't make physical contact with a ref, nor did he threaten them in any way ("They batter watch their backs" or something), I can't imagine they would suspend him for what he said.

JohnnyHammersticks 12-11-2023 09:11 AM

No, no, no. The opposite is true. If anything else, this will help the team. Mahomes has made too many deposits in the “Goodwill” account. He was overdue to make a withdrawal based on how this team has been playing.

Wouldn't that be something... I'll be sad when Mahomes retires, but won't be sad when that means going back to only tuning into the NFL for the CGs and the SB, if they have completely ruined those by then.

Whatever.

To anyone that has ever ****ing watched football beyond just a casual fan level of engagement knows the refs are ****ing horribad.

If the NFL makes a big deal about it, it will just draw more attention to it. So yeah, fire away Goodell.

TwistedChief 12-11-2023 09:24 AM

This is the most current comparison (from 2022) I can find and Mahomes' situation is far less egregious:
https://www.nfl.com/news/broncos-wr-...anlike-conduct

Quote:

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Friday that the NFL fined Jeudy a total of $36,281 for unsportsmanlike conduct -- $23,020 for making contact with a game official plus $13,261 for removing his helmet -- per sources informed of the situation.

Early in the contest, Jeudy went ballistic over an apparent non-call, removed his helmet while screaming, and bumped an official during the tirade.

The Broncos receiver was lucky to avoid an ejection on the spot. The league also declined to suspend him for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. But $36K is a hefty fine.
And in 2012, Belichick grabbed the arm of an official and was fined 50k.

0% chance we're talking about a suspension.

Disagree. PM has enough status to call out any player any time. If he was doing that, he wouldn't go at it sideways. He'd say it to whoever's face, one-on-one, or in front of the whole team, and to the media if need be.

Maybe the reason frustration has boiled over is that it's obvious to him that these receivers can't do the job. No matter how much he coaches them or motivates them, they just are not good enough.

A Salt Weapon 12-11-2023 09:54 AM

He picked a bad play to blow up over, but the refs have been atrocious against us this year.
It’s plain as day that they are only looking for penalties against us and in that focus are not paying attention to any committed against us. Every play of ours is examined under a microscope by officiating crews and other teams are not.

I keep thinking about the play, early in the game, where Mahomes throws a pass, gets taken down to the turf, and a Bills D lineman pulls Mahomes' helmet from the front half off his head.

Mahomes is on the ground with this helmet nearly pulled off and no call.

This would lead to some extreme frustration if I am him after the offsides call.

KC will have to eat it. The refs have been steering games in favor of Denver and steering games against KC for weeks. The league got what they wanted. It’s a close division now instead of a blowout. Maybe it will be a 1 game suspension to force KC into a tie with Denver heading down the final 3 weeks. Lol

Guys, come on.

If that "fire" had been confined to the sideline outburst, sure.

But in 20 years we don't have a clip of Brady shaking the opposing QB's hand and saying, "worst ****ing call I've ever seen" and being a sore loser over it.

And I'm having a hard time thinking of a press conference where Brady doubles and triples down, all while blasting what was a blatantly CORRECT call on the field.

It was a bad look for a lot of reasons, and I have no doubt he'll learn from it and turn that fire to positive energy.

Will the rest of the team?

Dude we have footage of Brady AND Manning literally refusing to shake a QB’s hand after losing the Super Bowl.

In another game, Brady literally stalked the referees into the locker room screaming at them about a call late in the game.

Bill Belichick literally grabbed an official to scream at them after a call.

MICHAEL JORDAN stalked a ref on a court and cussed them out to their face in the middle of the court. .

We need to take a breath. Competitors compete. It’s part of who they are. This will pass. As quickly as McDermott’s love letter to the 9/11 hijackers did.

Also some facts:
Brady didn't shake Foles' hand after the SB loss.

After 13 Seconds, Mahomes made it a priority to find Allen:

Quote:

“I take one kind of thing from that moment,” Allen said. “He goes down and overtime he throws the winning touchdown to Travis (Kelce) goes and dabs Travis up and he runs straight to me and finds me and we can have like a little embrace.
They clearly have a different relationship and aren't just some random QBs to each other. It was like letting off steam with a friend.

And again, if he limits it to one outburst, sure - I'm with you 100% and we're not even talking about it, nor is the national media.

But MAN it's a bad look when you lose your shit on the sideline, make that comment to Josh - whether it was letting off steam with a friend or not - then double and triple down in the presser when you're 100% in the wrong.

He just...wouldn't...stop. With that said, I'd bet it all that we'll never see it happen again.

Complete bullshit. Someone needs to be vocal about these concerns and the star QB is the best one to do so. Even more than Andy.

There's "being vocal" in a productive way, and then there's screaming at an official and needing to be held back on the sideline in a way that we'd all regard as terrible sportsmanship if it had been Josh Allen or anyone from another team.
