What were you doing in 1995?
That was the last time that the Chiefs got called for offensive offsides. (Apparently I was still eating lead paint chips off the wall at that time.)

Your mom.

1995 was a special season.
Until that kicker game. |
Can you help me out with the dates by telling me the popular music and movies at the time?
|
Like most Chiefs' fans; thinking that Steve Bono was a legit starting NFL QB.
|
I was at the Chiefs/Raiders game when James Hasty ended it with a pick 6 in OT the day Mahomes was born in 95. Actually still have the used ticket stub from that game.
|
95? That'd make me 10. Probably dealing drugs with my dad and hanging out with prostitutes, lol.
|
A girl named Kim.
|
Sitting with my Greg Hill jersey on, blissfully unaware of the Steve Bono/Lin Elliott/Paul Hackett heartbreak that was to come.
|
3rd grade i think? Probably begging my parents to buy me Mortal Kombat 3 or Red Alert for Christmas.

At this time of year in 1995, I had just moved into my house. I'd sold my condo and bought the house that I'm currently living in. It was a great purchase.
I only had enough furniture for about one-third of the house, so it was really roomy. |
Working as a Respiratory Therapist. Enjoying my second year of Chief season tickets.
|
Damn, some of you guys make me feel old as hell. That was a great year for some of my favorite movies apparently.

Trying to make the hot teachers sleeping with their students thread.

I learned today that 1985 was a far better year for movies and music than 1995.

Married w/ 2 young kids trying to move up the corporate ladder.... it's all a blur.

Working on Sundays, listening to games on the radio.

Still cussing the Chiefs for trading draft picks for unwanted QBs and not drafting one.
My ex (RIP) and living a sober lifestyle. |

As previously mentioned, you probably weren’t aware of the Tanner’s waitress that was banging both Hill & the HC. Probably not a kid friendly story, then or now. :) |
For most of 95 I was living in Clarksville TN, raising a young family in off post housing as a soldier stationed at Ft Campbell KY that was anything but cheap, and my BAQ only covered less than 2/3 of rent
|
Building my man cave in my current house.
Broke up with my gf of 3 years. She was a nut job. The Schottenheimer years were in full swing. So much hope and great games. Nothing really came of it though. :( The Royals wouldn't have any success for another 20 years. |
Playing slow pitch softball.

Been married 10 years to the love of my life....and a father for 3 years...was just coming to understand the effects of Autism on my son.
All in one week's time I was offered a new job that doubled my salary and my wife and I found out she was pregnant at age 38 after many years of being told she could never get pregnant. (Our son is adopted) Was thinking how really bad both movies and music had gotten and discovered the Star Board....which eventually lead me to Chiefsplanet 5 years later. |
I was trying to figure out how many 1 1/4lb sticks of C4 I could fit into a 15-40 5 gallon oilcan, only to blow it up. Stacking claymores on top of each other covered in a hole just to see how much dirt it threw up. How fast I could throw .50 cal rounds down range just to see how quick a .50 cal barrel would melt. How many wraps of det cord it takes to take down a small tree. Learned how to take a regular smoke grenade and make it into a nice pretty colored pepper smoke grenade. And every bit of general mayhem the govt. would allow me to do at 20.

Steve Bono and Lin Elliot yeah man. Sprinkle in a little Lake Dawson yeah!!!
|
I was in the middle of a nasty divorce and custody battle with my whore of an ex wife, thanks for asking.

Making circles in the Persian Gulf, looking forward to ending the WestPac with some R&R in Australia and New Zealand.
Later in 1995 .... Heading to Australia only to be told we were turning around and going back to the gulf because of Saddam Hussein. |

I was 30 years old. Working my ass off in private practice.
|
December of 1995 I was a dorky high school senior who had applied to KU and was just finishing out my time before I could move on to bigger and better things.
|
I was 15... not quite old enough to drive... stuck at home alone alot...
We'll just leave it at: Lots and lots of SNES. |

I had an awesome bachelor house that me and my buddy bought in an estate sale from a retired judge's wife. We bought in in 1992, renovated the hell out of it as he is a builder/remodeler, had two fireplaces, giant bar, sunroom, garden, basement unfinished but dry as a bone, 3BR/ 2 BR, den, living room. Large extended while brick ranch. Community we lived in was top notch at the time.
I had a refrigerator in the garage that had nothing but Heineken in it filled to the brim, about 4 cases. He was a bartender on the side in one of the Jersey Shore clubs and he brought back women all the time as he liked to party, he still does at 65. I had so many women I was dating and fooling around with the place need a turnstyle. Sometimes 2 a day. Place became legendary. I had a lot of professional athletes there for parties or meetings. Darryl Dawkins came to one and my father and sister loved listening to his stories. He also held my friends new born daughter in one hand. She looked like a small squash. My buddy still owns the place and built an incredible second floor and remodeled almost the whole place. Now it's up to like 3,500 sq ft. The 80's and 90's were an incredible time for me...... |
Heineken? **** that shit! PABST BLUE RIBBON!
|
In 1995 I took a 6th grade class trip to Washington DC. Hell of a lot of fun. It was also a heartbreaking sports year. The Chiefs had a great season in 1995 but of course ended up blowing it thanks to Lin Elliott.
It was also the year I said "I LOVE NICK ANDERSON" when he stole the ball from Michael Jordan to win a game and beat the Chicago Bulls in a 7 game series. A week or so later I had the exact opposite sentiment when the same Nick Anderson missed 4 free throws while up by 3 points in the closing seconds of game 1 of the finals. Which of COURSE ended up ****ing them. |
Launching my career.
|
I had been working since 13 and had just got a job at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Where the following year I got to escort (not blow) a sweet high schooler entering the NBA draft. 💜💜
|
Also had been on the "internet" long enough to know that guys are gross.
|
1985 was in 5th grade. Probably playing Oregon Trail on the Apple II.
1995 I was either working or at the gym |

Hostetler.....INTERCEPTED! Picked off by Hasty! JAMES HASTY! With Hostetler back.....Hasty going just short.....NO HES IN!! HES IN FOR THE WINNING TOUCHDOWN!! Marty kisses Hasty on the forehead and says " If they knew you were gonna do that to them, AL Davis would've offered you a helluva lot more money." |
Probably saw that game from my freshman dorm room.
