Chiefs superfan known as ‘Da Beard’ dies in Independence crash
Jonathan Ketz INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Police in Independence are trying to find out what caused a deadly crash early Monday morning. According to Independence police, a person was driving a Chevrolet eastbound on 23rd Street around 12:20 a.m. Monday, when they crashed into a railroad bridge west of Noland Road. The driver died and was the only person in the car. Police said it seems that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, but the crash is still under investigation. They also believe alcohol was a contributing factor. Police say 43-year-old Daniel S. Nelson, who lived in the city, was the man that died that morning. Nelson was known for painting his face red and yellow for Kansas City Chiefs games and dying his beard those colors too. Nelson’s nickname, according to fellow Super fan Lynn “Weirdwolf” Schmidt, was “Da Beard.” https://www.yahoo.com/news/one-dead-...135850964.html https://m104216-ucdn.mp.lura.live/iu...9vS5Ar3-8FGjx0 |
He was probably a regular here.

KC Chiefs "superfans" have had a rough past few years.
RIP |
Driving while drunk and no seat belt. Good thing he didn’t kill anyone innocent.

Never heard of her

Driving drunk. Sounds like his name should have been DaDipshit.
|
Do you think he had a Camaro?
|
And yet X-Factor lives...

Sad for loss of life. But is everyone a superfan now?
|
RIP but I just thought of somethin, First Down Elvis. That guy still around?
|
Midnight Sunday, first thing that came to mind was the Bills game. I believe that is what is meant here. “I think the game really took a toll on him yesterday. That loss was hard,” Schmidt said. “I think he let things go.”
Sad, RIP, and bless those who knew him well. |

RIP, sorry to his family and friends. Glad he didn't take anyone with him from the way it reads
|
That's a shame. He looked fun.
|
If he didn't have the beard, he would have been DaFace. We dodged a bullet here.
Aside from that, I'm glad he didn't take any innocent people out, and wish the best for his family. The world can never have enough Chiefs fans. |

isn't that the guy that wanted to fight x-factor about 10 or so years ago?

Damn that sucks that anyone died. Even if alcohol played a factor. RIP Da Beard.

Cause of crash was probably DaAlcohol or DaDrugs.

Saw a couple of my Facebook friends who are independent of each other post about this guy yesterday. Sounds like he was generally a good guy and leaves behind kids. Also sounds like he made a tragically bad decision. Glad nobody else was hurt.
|
What happened to our Weirdwolf? He hasn't posted since 2016.
|
23rd and Noland...he must have been so beyond ****ed up to hit a railroad bridge there it's not like it comes out of nowhere or is even difficult.

'Da Beard' is an anagram of his last moments:
Bar. Dead. |

Bring him in for a look?

Dude probably driving drunk like an idiot but his last memory was the lateral from Kelce to Toney that vanished from the record.
Sad way to go, whatever the circumstances. He was one of us regardless of whether he posted on CP. RIP. |
i remember him from my sth days, i think he even tailgated with us once, RIP guy
|
As others have said, glad he didn't take an innocent life, but feel sorry for his family. It's always hard to lose a loved one, losing one near the holidays makes it even worse. RIP

Sounds like he was a good guy and loved by a lot of people. Really sad...glad no one else was hurt.

Too young to die. Too old to not know better.
|
Regardless of what happened, he was probably loved. And he was somebody’s little boy once.
RIP |

If you're that mentally weak that the outcome of a ****ing football game can cause you to make stupid ass selfish decisions that endanger everyone your weak willed ass might come into contact with, do us all a ****ing favor okay, stay home and drink the ****ing Antifreeze. If this is to be believed, this guy died over a football game. I cannot fathom how anyone could become so invested in a game played by multi millionaires that it negatively affects their real life for more than a couple hours at most. I get annoyed at the dumb shit that happens, I'm in a mood for about 15 minutes right after, then life goes on. Drinking and driving and blaming it on taking a loss badly, I can't really see anything more pathetic. |

People can post whatever they want. Just remember though that years from now when his family googles his name, this thread will likely be on page of the Google search results and they will be reading through this.
Anyway, as others have said, sucks to lose another Chiefs fan. RIP 'Da Beard' |
Well thanks for letting us know we can post what we want.

This might come as some news to you, but those "1000 word posts" aren't 1000 words, and they take very little time to type for anyone with more than a single moving brain cell. Now please, continue to regale us all with your inadequacies, there appear to be several. |
