Christmas movies tournament ELITE 8: Grinch region

We are on to the Elite 8! Things will really start getting tough now. Round 2 in this region had the closest matches, with It's a Wonderful Life advancing by just one single vote over Trading Places. The Grinch got a pretty decent fight from Jingle All the Way but ultimately prevailed. Two very different movies in this matchup.

I don't have a bracket or anything but it will be like this:

Home Alone region Grinch region
Polar Express region Gremlins region

This was a tough one for me but ultimately went with the Grinch. But I can’t complain about either one of these moving on. A couple of great movies.

It’s a Wonderful Life is a lot like A Christmas Story.

Boring and way past its prime.

Went back and forth about this one for awhile. Finally went with sentimentality and voted "IAWL." Both are great X-Mas movies though.

Since it's the Jim Carrey version rather than the Karloff version, I'm going It's a Wonderful Life.

I absolutely hate the Carrey version

I love Carrey’s Grinch but the classic cartoon and the new animated version with Benedict Cumberbatch narrated by Pharrell is also really good.

The Grinch is just a great IP it seems.

It's a great IP, but I wonder how much of it is due to the voice of that original singer/narrator. That may be the best theatrical performance ever.

The American Dad Grinch episode is pretty good too

Whoa. The guy who sang, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" was also the voice of Tony the Tiger.

It's obvious after I read it, but I never made that connection.

It's a Wonderful Life is like a 1 or 2 time watch for me... but my kids want to watch the Grinch every year.

I don't even consider "It's a Wonderful Life" to be a Christmas movie, but it still beats the hell out of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".

That's a crazy good find Rain Man. Looking further into his career he also had a voice cameo in Nightmare Before Christmas.
