Great news!!

tk13 01-11-2024 01:23 PM

I have no evidence but I wonder how much the knee injury the first week of the year messed up his whole season.

Wisconsin_Chief 01-11-2024 01:23 PM

Thank God, was really worried. Hopefully we get him some help next year.

SHOWTIME 01-11-2024 01:23 PM

Let's hope he can stay healthy.

penguinz 01-11-2024 01:24 PM

Only an idiot would have thought otherwise.

New World Order 01-11-2024 01:24 PM

Mr. Pfizer will be here for a while!!!

Otter 01-11-2024 01:31 PM

Perfect time to bring in some young blood for him to mentor.

staylor26 01-11-2024 01:33 PM

Now all we need is Andy to say the same, win the SB, and watch everybody cry.

Marcellus 01-11-2024 01:33 PM

I always thought the entire idea was silly with no real basis. He had one of the best seasons of his career just last year.

RunKC 01-11-2024 01:34 PM

Good. Now get more weapons so this old ass GOAT doesn't keep getting triple teamed

Eleazar 01-11-2024 01:35 PM

But I read in every game thread that he doesn't want to be here anymore.

FloridaMan88 01-11-2024 01:36 PM

He’ll be around next season to help develop Brock Bowers.

Never thought he was, but glad to hear him say it definitively. He's still great.

He was injured at the end of the season… drop that draft stock (to the Chiefs).

I wasn't sure to be honest. He was getting up pretty slow after some of those hits and coming off 2&3 in Super Bowls is a good time to go out all things considered.

Tag and trade Jones to the Falcons for Kyle Pitts and Grady Jarrett.

I hope he continues to play for years, I do…we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

That's awesome.

However, sometimes you don't really get to choose when you're going out, it gets chosen for you.

Hopefully that's not anytime soon.

Kelce has been getting up slow since 2018.

And if you don't believe me, watch the game in Denver. ROFL

His numbers this year are pretty good considering the lack of WR production and missing two games. If Rice improves next year and they have better weapons at other WR spots, Kelce can rebound with a big year.

More than we know I think. When Butker got hurt first game last year he wasn’t right most of the season. Trav bent a wheel early. Made it hard for him to do his catch, fake, reverse move. Hopefully he’s getting himself right starting Saturday.

Kman34 01-11-2024 02:33 PM

Good.. I want him here as long as possible, but… He was the one talking about it on his podcast… When you bring it up, you are thinking about it.. Next year if he struggles with injuries and getting open I can see him hanging it up..

Rain Man 01-11-2024 02:37 PM

Of course he's not. Why would the greatest tight end in NFL history retire prematurely? He's still got a few records to break.

ToxSocks 01-11-2024 02:49 PM

Oh. Didn't realize this was a serious question.

InChiefsHeaven 01-11-2024 02:56 PM

You have to admit, he's looked more tired this season than ever, and more frustrated. It did look to me like he was just beat all to hell.

Glad he's coming back, I can't picture the team without him.

smithandrew051 01-11-2024 02:57 PM

Man, next season is going to be so ****ing epic.

We’ll be going for the 3peat.

TinyEvel 01-11-2024 04:51 PM

I mean, if you go back to the original question and answer:

“Do you think about retirement?”

TK: “More than anyone could ever imagine.”

Could mean he’s investing, saving, buying property, etc. if I ran Schwab marketing I’d buy that clip and get Kelce as my spokesman.

Yeah. And how that injury exacerbated the other nicks and dings he had throughout the season.

I really hope last week off healed him up enough and pissed him off plenty for not getting 1K that we get 2019 playoff Kelce the next month or so.

tredadda 01-11-2024 05:22 PM

Why would half of the “Best Bundle in the League” retire this early? He still has plenty of years left to do other stuff.

I think he played less than 100% most of the season, still almost had 1,000 yards. Glad he didn't say he's going to retire, but right before a playoff game he's not going to say anything else tbh.

Yards:
Tony had 15,127
Kelce ATM 11,328

Needs 3,800 to pass Tony. Lets say he drops down to 850 yards instead of 1K. That means Kelce should pass Tony in about 4-5 Seasons.

Receptions:
Tony had 1,325
Kelce ATM 907

Needs 418 to pass Tony. He averages about 80+ but lets say he gets 65 a year moving forward. Thats 6-7 years to pass Tony.

TDs:
Gates had 116
Kelce ATM 74

Needs 42 to pass Gates. At 5 a season he would need about 8 more years to pass Gates...This one probably aint happening!

I think REC and Yards could happen and I hope it does!

Frazod 01-11-2024 05:40 PM

Am I the only person who glanced at the title and initially misread it as "Kelce not returning" and nearly shit himself?

Rainbarrel 01-11-2024 06:17 PM

Smart move by Carroll, Saban and Belichick then

Delano 01-11-2024 06:41 PM

A fair amount of crow should be served to the clowns who thought the man would retire because he had a few bad games statistically and has a relationship in the public eye. Same virgins made dumbass jokes about lacking stamina because he had sex.

Bitches probably pay more attention to Entertainment Tonight than your basic white girl.

cdcox 01-11-2024 09:15 PM

I never for a moment thought this would be his last year. He's still quite productive.

ForeverIowan 01-11-2024 09:57 PM

Listen I understand we are building this thing for the long haul but can we PLEASE get aggressive in the short-term and put a couple elite playmakers next to Kelce and Rice. Reid and Kelce deserve a top tier offense to wrap up their HOF careers.

Brady went 10 years without winning a SB. Lets go get Pat #3 and #4 here and accept the fact we may have a year to rebuild and right the cap afterward.

Eleazar 01-11-2024 10:18 PM

You think of a guy like Antonio Gates who played for 16 years and was still productive in his mid to late 30s, particularly in the red zone.

It may be a case that as Kelce feels Father Time approaching eventually he changes the way he plays.

But a lot of what makes him so good is his rapport with Mahomes and his ability to read and react to the defense, and those intangibles aren't going away.

The tears if we won this year would be OUTRAGEOUS.

The 1st SB was emotional for reasons I don't need to explain to any of you.

The 2nd was awesome because of the doubt and hate. That would be even more so this year.

He's on this football high right now.

I could see us winning. Kelce secures a no doubt "dynasty". Spends the spring on a private jet flying around the world with his GF. He starts to think....do I need to **** with LB's and safety's trying to take my head off or just start my post football life now?

That works. Get hopefully 90% of him at least next year, draft a tight end, and then have him learn from Travis for his final season.

At a minimum he’s here for a shot at the 3peat.

RunKC 01-30-2024 12:23 PM

Kelce made over $25 million this year. $12 million in cash from us, $20 million from Pfizer. Doesn't even count Bud Light, Campbells chunky soup, State Farm, DirecTV or his podcast

RedinTexas 01-30-2024 12:23 PM

If the Chiefs win this year, they're in a position to do what no other team has ever done and win 3 consecutive Super Bowls. I think Kelce would love to be a part of that. I would think Bart Vitch would be using that bait to work a lot of contracts.

Yeah, that would be too tempting for him to give up.

Mecca 01-30-2024 12:30 PM

Also because of Taylor Swift he's in a better position to make money outside of football which means it benefits him to keep playing for sponsor deals.

He has no reason to walk away unless he's literally marrying Taylor Swift.

ThyKingdomCome15 01-30-2024 12:55 PM

They managed it perfect this year. Give him extra breaks like NE did with Gronk for years. You want him rested when it matters.

suzzer99 01-30-2024 12:58 PM

Now that Mahomes has won two road playoff games, I predict that "Let's see what Mahomes does without Kelce" will become the new rallying cry of the haters.

Then it will be "Let's see what he does without Reid."

Then, "Let's see what he does on a different franchise."

Some people will never be satisfied.

We have no idea if they're anywhere near that serious or even if either of them WANT to be married. All of the assumptions that they're at that level are just as weird and sad to me as the discussions about him retiring.

Valid point. Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell have been together 40 years without marriage. Common law spouses at this point of course.

chiefzilla1501 01-30-2024 05:55 PM

Please keep this about sports but seriously what is the deal with all these bullshit stories? I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. It's not even just twisting stories around. A lot of this content are flat out making up stories out of thin air. And some of them so whacky it's surprising someone would have the audacity to make it up. Of course social media content has always been problematic but it feels like it's been especially bad this year.

The Reid retirement narrative seems ridiculous but at least there's a sports reporter who will eat it when it's proven wrong. It feels like we've reached a point where between all the clickbait and the AI theres no reputational consequence anymore to making shit up. I mean Reid and Travis have both directly said they're gonna keep going and we still have to listen to this nonsense
