This looks like a Super Bowl winning team

Doesn't it?

Holy shit!

Pablo 01-13-2024 09:59 PM

Agreed.

Like a well oiled ****ing machine and the rest of the league is a fleshlight.

MMXcalibur 01-13-2024 10:00 PM

Would like to see more north/south running, but an impressive result tonight.

Nice to watch a playoff game that's comfortable in the 4th quarter.

Wisconsin_Chief 01-13-2024 10:00 PM

Rashee Rice seems like a nice young man.

TLO 01-13-2024 10:01 PM

Most complete game all season

"Defense wins championships" was the mantra for years. Could definitely still be true.

Bearcat 01-13-2024 10:04 PM

I'm not at all saying I WANT this match up, but I'd love to see what the defense would do against Stroud and the Texans.

St. Patty's Fire 01-13-2024 10:04 PM

would obviously like to see us finish in the red zone but even if we can score 20 points a game w this defense we’re probably gonna win

DRM08 01-13-2024 10:05 PM

Need more touchdowns on offense. But avoiding turnovers by Patrick and others in the Offense will give them a fighting chance in every game. Find a way to play as clean as possible.

This is a number 1 defense. The Browns had an easy ride throughout the season and are good but not KC.

If they score 26 the rest of the way with this defense they're most likely winning the SB

also the kc defense has mahomes to play through. makes a big difference in the defense’s mentality compared to having an old should be retired man back there

Pitt Gorilla 01-13-2024 10:09 PM

As I said ALL season, simply make the tournament and I LOVE our chances against anyone.

Womble 01-13-2024 10:10 PM

Also scheming plays just for Pacheco, Rice, Kelce, Gray and Watson makes us perform so much better on offense.

-King- 01-13-2024 10:10 PM

If they can convert better in the Red zone they for sure can beat anyone playing like this.

It was a problem in 2021, was great in 2022, and a problem again in 2023.

If the defense keeps holding opponents to 7 points, the red zone offense might not matter.

Even with the two SB wins, the D stepped up when needed.

But this D???? HOLY COW... Almost shut down D.

DrunkBassGuitar 01-13-2024 10:21 PM

26 is more than any team has put on this defense even with 4+turnovers

Just get 21 or so points and we win kick 7 FGs if you have to

irafreak 01-13-2024 10:23 PM

Well Miami's defense was decimated so we did what we should have done. They had to send pressure and andy had some nice playcalling to get guys open especially rice. Lots of quick hit stuff...hate to say it but it looked very patriot tom Brady and Payton manning quick outs.

Not afraid of Buffalo. Just have to not lose the turnover battle.

True. Defense played great tonight

mr. tegu 01-13-2024 10:24 PM

All it took to blow out a team was not turning the ball over a half dozen times. That was still with some dumb mistakes in the red zone.

Bump 01-13-2024 10:24 PM

Yes, nobody is stopping them now. Once they get that sweet taste of a playoff victory back in their mouths it's over!

ChiefsCountry 01-13-2024 10:32 PM

Been a bunch of dumb ****s all year on CP about this team

smithandrew051 01-13-2024 10:33 PM

Was that the best postseason game from a Chiefs defense in the Mahomes era?

I can’t think of another that was this dominant.

BigChiefTN 01-13-2024 10:35 PM

Now we just need Kelce to stop dropping big/ critical passes ..

Probably. Ironically, his first playoff game, that crappy 2018 defense shut down Andrew Luck and the Colts. But this Dolphins offense has more weapons.

Weren't all of his drops on 1st down tonight? They were obviously not great but I dont remember any of them being a drive killing drop.

493rd 01-13-2024 10:37 PM

Let’s see what happens next week. Chiefs D should travel well anywhere, but I’m still worried about the offense ****ing up.

Didn’t the Colt put up a bunch of garbage yards at the end?

Dolphins didn’t even manage that tonight. Their offense was essentially one flukey play.

The one in Red Zone was 2nd down, mixed with a bad snap from Humphrey on the next play. Drive killed on those 2 mistakes back to back.

Chris Meck 01-13-2024 10:39 PM

Hey look-

This is a legit great defense. Mahomes is the best QB in football. Rice is becoming a star before our eyes.

they've got as good of a shot as anyone.

InChiefsHeaven 01-13-2024 10:41 PM

We are witnessing Playoff Chiefs Football. This team is different in the post season. They are seasoned and they know what it takes to win in the post season.

I'm feeling...relatively confident.

Hammock Parties 01-13-2024 10:42 PM

The defense plays like that and we can beat anyone.

ThaVirus 01-13-2024 10:43 PM

It does but we have to temper expectations a bit.

This Dolphins defense had absolutely no pass rush. That won’t be the case in Buffalo, or even if the Texans come to town.

its certainly looks like they flipped a switch tn. still some shitty drops and some bad penalties (or mostly just one bad player taking penalties). but overall the most focused they’ve looked in a full game all year.

if we just don’t turn the ball over we’re an almost impossible out

This may be a tad optimistic, but it was great to see Pat back in postseason form.

KC_Connection 01-13-2024 10:44 PM

Mahomes is the best playoff QB to ever play by a significant margin and this is easily the best defense he's ever had. Yes, they certainly have a chance.

Bills are a massive level jump from the Dolphins team they just played though. I wouldn't get too high on beating up on these guys.

I'm absolutely giddy right now.

The defense is the best left in the playoffs.

We can absolutely 2002 Bucs our way into a Lombardi.

ForeverIowan 01-13-2024 10:49 PM

They should be, but much like the Chiefs shooting themselves in the feet, the Bills often can't get out of their own way.

Chris Meck 01-13-2024 10:54 PM

Miami was really playing shorthanded defensively; but up front. Rashee Rice was playing against Ramsey and Apple.

I think Apple sucks, but Ramsey is still one of the better corners in the business.

so if Rashee Rice is THIS guy, then we can be very dangerous indeed.

24 points probably gets it done against ANYONE this year when KC has this defense.

Rice, Kelce, Pacheco, rinse and repeat.

Molitoth 01-13-2024 10:54 PM

Receivers are still an annoying problem:
Kelce with x3 drops, 1 being a maybe TD.
Hardman with x3 deep balls that it seems he just gave up on. It's like he is allergic to the football.

Something seems off with Diggs and Sneed may very well be the best corner in the league. I think Sneed can lock him up. Gabe Davis likely may be a longshot to play next week. I think our defense can make them play left handed. I think Mahomes in his first career road playoff game in that environment really brings out his best.

Frazod 01-13-2024 10:55 PM

He just quit once he thought he got held. That sucked.

You'd think every receiver in the league would know by now that you simply cannot rely on the ref$ to call plays correctly.

Rainbarrel 01-13-2024 10:57 PM

Hardman looked wide open on 3rd and five. Pat threw it to covered James

We really need to figure out how to take deep shots to anyone other than Hardman and MVS.

Those two are basically worthless.

Yeah, throwing deep to Hardman (or anyone this season) just hasn't worked well. He gave up on several balls today. He's always had the speed to get past defenders, but after that he seems lost.

Patrick Mahomes is 12-3 (.800) in the playoffs. He is 28 years old.

Dan Marino was 8-10 (.444).

Drew Brees was 9-9 (.500).

Peyton Manning was 14-13 (.518).

Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers were 12-10 (.545).

Ben Roethlisberger was 13-10 (.565).

Lenny Dawson was 5-3 (.625).

Steve Young and John Elway were 14-8 (.636).

Troy Aikman was 11-5 (.687).

Joe Montana was 16-7 (.695).

Who has it better than us? We expect to be in the SB every year, I’d say that’s a “golden age” for Chiefs football. 10 years ago everything that’s happened over the past 7 years nobody thought was possible.

*shrug*

Buffalo just scored 14 points against Miami.

With this defense, any drive that ends in a kick is fine.

It's 2023, not 2018.

scho63 01-13-2024 11:46 PM

They certainly played a much better game but some of the same shit reared it's ugly head.

Too many drops, routes run wrong or stopped, terrible in Red Zone, awful penalties that killed drives.

Overall a much better game and the final results showed it.
