Nice to see a clean game

With the exception of Hardman's fumbles this might have been the cleanest game we've played all year. I can't recall any dumb mental error penalties. Going to need that to continue next week.

Sofa King 01-21-2024 10:23 PM

Andy not throwing the red flag on that first drive was another gaff after last weeks red flag gaff.

Taylor and Smith got their penalties out of the way on the same play, so that was nice LMAO

Pasta Little Brioni 01-21-2024 10:27 PM

Officials stayed out of the way as well.

Graystoke 01-21-2024 10:28 PM

Indeed this was nice to see. The crowd was making it difficult but the Chiefs kept it clean and cool.

JohnnyHammersticks 01-21-2024 10:29 PM

Only one drop that I can recall, right? The one by Watson?

Eleazar 01-21-2024 10:29 PM

Refs did very well tonight I thought. The only thing I can even think of is the hold on Donovan Smith was a pretty weak call, but I think they did a fine job. It was a well played game overall.

Even though we didn't catch any breaks, I would love games to be officiated like this all the time.

When officials keep the flags in their pockets the games are way better.

Never have liked that rule because when you fumble in the field of play and it goes out of bounds, it's still the offense's ball. That rule needs to change.

Frazod 01-21-2024 10:40 PM

Don't forget the idiot who gave away Allen's fumble because he tried to pick it up instead of falling on it. I really feared that one would end up being the dagger.

Yeah, it should be the same as any other fumble forward.

wachashi 01-21-2024 10:55 PM

Hardman is a dumbass.

I disagree.

You get the benefit of the goalline extending to the sky and breaking the plane is a TD even if the ball is fumbled immediately thereafter.

So having a penalty that discourages guys from doing that stab towards the goal line is a good thing.

Just secure the damn ball inside the 5. It's not that hard.

It's such a bonehead play. It was 1st down. No reason to risk the ball. But also Andy needs to not give a foolish player a chance to make a foolish play.

Did Pacheco take himself out of the next play after the long run? He looked a little banged up after it. If not I simply don't understand. No way Buffalo is stopping you 3 or 4 straight times from the 2 yard line.

It looked like he twisted his ankle slightly on the run. Guessing that's why he was out on that play.

and those weren't penalties on that screen... Taylor barely touched the guy, let alone held him...

ForeverIowan 01-21-2024 11:26 PM

So who do we trust less at this point? Toney or Hardman? Honestly at this point I'd prefer to see Skyy Moore out there over both of them I trust him not to turn it over. Dont turn the ballnlver for the rest of the year we are back to back SB Champs.

He's not made for these ultra violent playoff games.

When Tyreek was here he was more effective because it was way easier to find open space.

Close quarters combat isn't great for him.

If Toney is healthy I wouldn't mind seeing him take the Hardman role back next week. He's more physical.

NO!

Mahomes hasn't a lost a game this season when he hasn't thrown any interceptions. Keep Toney off the field to keep it that way.

Oh Snap 01-22-2024 12:40 AM

Hardmans fumble shouldnt have been ruled a fumble. There wasnt enough there to overturn the ruling on the field. His ass was clearly down. But even then, that is one of the weirdest, dumbest rules in the league. Defense bailed reid out there.

scho63 01-22-2024 05:22 AM

1. Hardmans fumble
2. Watson's drop
3. Andy not challenging a likely illegal forward pass by Allan
4. Two penalties on 3rd downs to give Buffalo a first down
5. Inability to stop Allan from running wild
6. Red Zone difficulties
7. Mahomes having some bad tosses or receivers running bad routes
8. Difficulty stopping their run
9. Two penalties on our Oline killing two drives.
10. #27 of the Chiefs tried to scoop and score instead of falling on Allan's fumble.

We had a lot less mistakes than most of our other games. That was a HUGE factor in us winning this game.

The half time adjustments were impressive.

If we get even cleaner and tighter in limiting our mistakes, we can beat the Ravens.

It was a fumble. Take off your Chiefs colored glasses and it was pretty obvious that the ball was moving before his hip hit the ground.

This, it was obviously a fumble. Saying it wasn’t a fumble when the ball clearly started moving before he was down is just false and homerish.

Good list. Definitely not a clean game by any means. Buffalo had some major breaks go their direction or this could have been a 13+ point victory for the Chiefs. But I am glad to see them at least playing at a much higher level on Offense than we saw less than a month ago on Christmas Day. The OL/Pacheco and Mahomes/Kelce/Rice have stepped up their games.

TEX 01-22-2024 12:17 PM

Yeah, VERY nice to see a clean officiated game also! But the damage has been done, because after every play, I'm looking around for flags on the field. It wasn't just me either. I was at a sports bar and most everybody was doing the same damn thing. Anytime something good happens we're all conditioned to look for the flag. :shake:

Anyone got a .Gif of hardman's fumble? I didnt see anything clear enough to overturn the call on the field but enough people say they saw it that I;m keeping an open mind. Is there an angle that shows it perfectly?

There was one angle that clearly showed the ball moving and Hardman's butt still not touching the ground. They got the call right on review.

Not just likely. It 100% was a forward pass. He released it at the 33 1/2 and it was caught at the 32.
