God damn it.

DJ's left nut 01-29-2024 02:34 PM

Shit - that hurts a lot.

He was REALLY coming on. He looked on his way to being our best defensive player yesterday. He was killing Stanley and of course he has that ability to cause problems inside.

That's a big loss.

BWillie 01-29-2024 02:34 PM

What sucks is I believe we signed him for a two year deal, right?

Yes, he's here next season

OnTheWarpath15 01-29-2024 02:35 PM

You could tell in the interview last night that he knew he was done.

Reporter says something like "you're going to the SB" and he responded something like, "I'm not"

nychief 01-29-2024 02:35 PM

We should sign Shark for the SB.

Why Not? 01-29-2024 02:35 PM

Not ideal but remind me how many points we gave up to the MVP once 90 went out?

I think so. He has two weeks to get sober and not drink. He has shown he can do it when the game is on the line.

Sure hope so.

Because I gotta figure FAU is going to be active (Thompson's too light for the 49ers run game to even be a rotational asset).

But then again, FAU is going to have to figure out how to make his way past Malik Herring on the depth chart so I guess we'll see...

Oh man, this blows. Thought that’s what it was when he went down without contact, but when I saw him say “do I look like a guy who’s not playing in the Super Bowl” in that postgame interview I got my hopes up. Must’ve been a surprise to him too.

Megatron96 01-29-2024 02:39 PM

He’ll be back for the start of the season.. ACLs are done through the scope and recovery is shorter than it used to be..

Balto 01-29-2024 02:40 PM

Only 1 thing to do! Sign Mother Fuking Frank Clark!

O.city 01-29-2024 02:40 PM

That sucks for next year to. He's pretty much out for the year at this point.

So DE just went back up on the wish list for next season.

He got hurt on a Lamar scramble, you could see him grab his knee and go down.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-29-2024 02:41 PM

Makes ya sick. And means he isn't going to be back for awhile. May not even be impactful next year.

But his impact to get this team on the stage yet again will be remembered.

That is not true an ACL is no longer a year recovery, if he has surgery now he'll be fully cleared by August/September.

kcfan75 01-29-2024 02:41 PM

Apparently, Terrell Suggs is also still available.

Hammock Parties 01-29-2024 02:42 PM

This ****ing sucks.

I'm not sure he wasn't going to be ripped up by Trent Williams anyway, though.

It would have been nice to have him inside though, when Jones flips out.

suzzer99 01-29-2024 02:42 PM

What's the usual ACL healing time for a D-lineman? Maybe he needs some of Aaron Rodgers' dolphin sperm or whatever it was.

Could give us a chance to sign him to a new deal at a better price.

Mecca 01-29-2024 02:43 PM

If it's only an ACL he'll be fine, if he has meniscus damage them it's longer.

You can walk on your knee the same day of ACL surgery, meniscus repair though is no weight for 2 months.

What? Dude, it's an ACL. It's fast nowdays. We aren't living in 1983 anymore.

He'll surely have surgery this week and he'll be back to rehabbing with minimal atrophy.

Yea that surgery is so different now, that use to be a zipper down your whole knee completely open on the table...now it's just a few small holes.

Bwana 01-29-2024 02:45 PM

We'll be just fine.

DaFace 01-29-2024 02:45 PM

I'm not even joking. Sign Frank Clark.

He will come to play in a handful of snaps.

Odd. I had meniscus surgery a few years ago (torn vertically AND horizontally). The doctor took my crutches away after one week and got me into therapy that day. I wasn't running on it right way, but I was certainly putting weight on my leg.

Did you have meniscus cleanup or repair, on cleanup you can walk very early because it's just removal. If you have it repaired you have to wait for it to mend together after surgery.

Yeah - if we're lucky he's back in October, but realistically you're hoping for him at/near full strength by December.

That stings. Fortunately he's not a quick-twitch player so he should be able to get back to full tilt a little sooner than a DB would, but I think you have to plan on not having him back until around Thanksgiving next year.

Daaaaaaaaamn.

Mecca 01-29-2024 02:51 PM

All of this is why building DL depth is extremely important.

We literally drafted a first round DE in case this shit happened. It's time for them to take the diapers off FAU. Even if that means he's only coming on the field for obvious passing downs

Bl00dyBizkitz 01-29-2024 02:52 PM

Fuuuuuuuuck.

9 months is still a pretty aggressive timeline. It isn't impossible or even unlikely that he'd be back by November, but I don't think you can plan on it.

And half the season is still half the season. Even if he's back by week 8/9, he's still gotta get himself into football shape. It took him 4-6 weeks to really look impressive here after the suspension. He doesn't play a turnkey game - he's gotta get in rhythm.

It's gonna put a dent in his 2024 season for sure.

Honestly, I can't remember - it was a while ago (tore it doing a lunge during a Kendo demonstration).

However, we don't know which treatment Omenihu might need either (or if), so let's hope for the best. :thumb:

The more I think about it the more I don't think this is a game for FAU. He's kind of a one trick pony and a 3rd down rusher only at this point.
