CBS crew nearly came to blows with 'd–bag' Ravens fan after AFC Championship

Baltimore Ravens fans were certainly unhappy after witnessing the home team suffer a disappointing loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday. But apparently, at least one Ravens fan directed their frustration at the onsite CBS television crew.

Lamar Jackson had a brilliant regular season and defeated the Houston Texans in the divisional round to earn his first career postseason home win. Former NFL quarterback and current CBS analyst Boom Esiason and the rest of CBS' "NFL Today" crew were broadcasting from M&T Bank Stadium.

Esiason said that he, along with his co-hosts, Nate Burleson and Bill Cowher, were confronted by a fan at an Amtrak station near the Ravens home stadium.

Esiason went into more details about the incident during WFAN's morning show on Monday. Esiason began by praising the Ravens' loyal fan base, saying the crowd "couldn’t have been any nicer at the stadium and even in this situation, for the most part."

But, the former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback said the fan was a "total a—wipe d—bag." He also suggested the fan had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol.

Esiason added that the fan in question made claims that the NFL was "rigged."

"He decides that he’s gonna come over and he’s gonna talk to us about how the NFL is rigged," Esiason explained. "And he’s using very colorful language."

But he also noted that Cowher was quick to defend the integrity of the league.

"Coach is awesome right, he'll defend the NFL," Esiason explained. "'I don't want to hear this crap from this drunk a— fan that lost a bet' ... he's a Hall of Famer and will die with that shield," Esiason said of Cowher.

At one point, the situation seemed to have escalated to the point where Esiason contemplated getting into a physical altercation with the individual.

"I said, 'Listen, if he gets any closer, I may have to get up and effing smash this guy right in the face,'" Esiason said. "And I’m pissed off now. I’m trying to watch the [NFC Championship Game on an iPad], this idiot is screaming about how the NFL is rigged.

"We’re not gonna let anybody go after Coach Cowher."

Burleson, a former Detroit Lions wide receiver, then entered the fray.

"Nate’s ready to come out of his suit and ready to rip this guy’s face off," Esiason.

The chaotic scene ended with no punches being thrown.

"It was nuts," Esiason said. "And then another Ravens fan started yelling at this guy and then the cops came in."

F you Justin Tucker. Mahomes called you out for your BS. Said this has happened to him 3 times in his career and every time it was in Baltimore.

Fwiw - their fans were totally harmless and surprisingly friendly, even after the game. Didn’t expect that.

That's only because you're so very charming and disarming. EVERYONE loves TC. More than TS even...

I did actually snap a picture of a classy guy wearing a “Taylor Swallows” shirt, so maybe people in Baltimore just prefer Katy Perry?

The entire AFC North labels themselves as heavy hitters to try and keep up with a self-made persona created back before any of them were in the league. They use this self-fellating as a reason to ignore rules and pound their chests when really they’re just assholes who want to hurt people while coming as close as possible to illegal but denying it once they get caught. Hate when the Chiefs play them, and happy for every penalty they get. That team went after Patrick’s knees at least twice in that game and it’s a wonder Patrick wasn’t injured. That division deserves no happiness.

I’d say the same. Most were very cool. Dude sitting in front me was a jackass, however. Wanted to argue that a penalty in the end zone (when we had them backed up at the one) wasn’t a safety. After a lengthy exchange (no profanity) I finally gave up arguing and said “I’m sorry, I can’t see the scoreboard. What’s the score?”. He then pulls out his phone and threatens to have me thrown out.

I'm done with every stupid narrative out there about Baltimore

"They're just run the right way."
"They've got a terrific team culture."
"Great fans!"

I judge by what I see on the field. I see a culture alright, but it ain't positive. It might win them a bunch of regular season games, but it's not enough to beat KC. Normally in the case of teams like Houston or Buffalo I might make fun of their inabilities and weird ass behavior, but I'm not going to call into question the character of the organization.

The Ravens organization is full of crybaby pussy bullies. It always has been. A ****ing murderer whined about getting double teamed a bunch, and he infested the organization for far too long and had way too much power, and now the players left behind take up that same mindset. It's in the walls of that facility.

Bunch of tiny-dicked losers

I definitely wouldn’t pick a fight with a bunch of retired pro athletes.

They might be old, but these dudes are still big strong guys.

Raven Fan would’ve gotten his ass beat.

Why would they wear that shirt? That just proves Kelce is really "winning"...

Yea, there is a little higher clientele at these games when the average ticket price is $1k.

You mean Chiefs legend T Sizzle?

Rain Man 01-31-2024 09:09 AM

I never heard the background about the fight that happened before the game on the field. Some noble Chief was attacked or had to defend the honor of the team against some stupid dirty raven. Did anybody ever hear what happened? They showed the clip on TV so quickly that I didn't catch the number of the Chiefs player who was the hero.

O.city 01-31-2024 09:18 AM

Oh **** them.

The Ravens wanna talk and be this Class and Pomp organization.

**** off.

You're the bully. That's always been the way they've played and it's worked for them. The Chiefs bullied the bully. This is the normal reaction when that happens.

Lamar choked.

He always chokes.

So what the Ravens taught us was "Taylor Swallows" and Lamar chokes.

I know who I have more respect for...

Talisman 01-31-2024 09:24 AM

My buddy and I were heading down to the lower level to be at the edge of the field for the post-game festivities. We had to wait at the top of the stairs for all of the Ravens fans to head out once the victory formation was on display. It was kind of 50/50 on interactions.

"Congratulations."
"F you."
"Good game."
"Eat shit."
"That Mahomes is something."
"The NFL just wanted that blond bitch in the Super Bowl."

Then a fan heading quickly past us in a group grabbed my SB LVII hat off of my head and flung it down into the lower seats. He was gone before I even had a chance to react. I don't care about some verbal trash talk, but don't touch another person or their belongings.

Luckily, as the losers cleared out, I found my hat down on the stairs. It had only been stepped on a few times. Lol.

I told you. They threw my hat.

The absolute worst fans, by far, are ****ing JETS fans. I legitimately can't remember a single positive interaction with one living up in Rochester, this was 2009-2012, right in the midst of the Pioli era.

Giants fans were for the most part chill, although that probably had more to do with them actually winning the Championship a couple years prior.

Bills fans were kindred spirits at the time. Two historically incompetent franchises just waiting for their time.

Patriots fans were fine, if not a bit smug and condescending, although it's pretty ****ing hard not to be when the team is that good.

Jets fans though, the absolute ****ing worst, and they didn't even accomplish **** all with Ryan and Sanchez except bouncing the Pats out that one time and making it to the Conference Championship twice in a row.

No they prefer going balls deep on White Stripes

Did anybody ever hear what happened? They showed the clip on TV so quickly that I didn't catch the number of the Chiefs player who was the hero.

From memory, what they said on ESPN was that Tucker chose to warm up in the Chiefs' players area because according to him that's what he normally does. The Chiefs felt he was doing it to intentionally get in their way. Tucker said that Patrick asked him to move his stuff and that he did move it. Whether he did or didn't move it his stuff was still in the way, so Kelce tossed it aside. But then Tucker called it "gamesmanship on both sides", so something doesn't add up. Tucker also said Kelce kicked his helmet but I don't think the video showed him doing that, more tossing it out the back of the end zone.

whoa whoa whoa......you're forgetting the felons (raider fans).

Raider fans are the dumbest MFers on the planet, and puff their chest out after decades of futility.......and they absolutely LOVE to drink/fight/commit crime, you name it, before they're due back in their cell by sunday night.

I'm talking about a different one. The TV showed a short clip of about five seconds of a Chief and a dirty raven being separated after a physical altercation during warmups. It looked like it was probably a defensive back for the Chiefs, but it happened so fast that I didn't catch the number. The announcers said something like "Things are already getting chippy."

This could have arisen from the Justin Tucker idiot, but it felt like it was something different.

I'm surprised at how many people didn't know being a shit stain was Baltimore's MO. They're like the Raiders, only good at it.

Dude thought he was Sneed at the end of the Fins game. Only difference is Sneed waited til the W was secured. And Sneed is a MAN! Those fools thought they’d intimidate the champs? How dumb!

I'm assuming he didn't run into many Raiders fans in New York, seems way too far to roam with an ankle monitor.

Probably headed to the airport or the city. Train back to NYC is way faster and easier than a car service or a fliight, or a service to the airport.

Ah, yes, that's it. It makes sense that it was Maulet since he's an idiot. It looks like he came over where the Chiefs DBs were warming up to be an idiot.

At 1:04 in your same video, Rashee Rice made him atone for his sins. ROFL

I'm obviously happy that we won the game, but it makes it even more delightful that the ravens were being such jerks and then got their faces pushed into the mud. They got what they deserved.

A bunch of former NFL players who, while older, obviously keep in some semblance of shape because they at least have to maintain appearances. For the average guy, especially one who's drunk off his ass, not somebody you'd really want to **** with. Boomer's probably experienced more pain in an afternoon than most of us have in our entire lives.

I figured J.J. Watt could handle things better than Boomer. He was on that set.

Then again, he hasn't been the same since Eric Fisher bitch slapped him in a playoff game.

Lol.

When the Bengals beat us in the AFC Championship, I saw several Cincy fans just crying and releasing for all the years of frustration. I was pissed, of course, because the Chiefs should have won. But I said congrats to the ones who were sitting by me and who were cool throughout the game. And I ignored the asshole Bengals fans. I get it.

Madubuike with that knee dive at Mahomes right at the end there. **** that guy with AIDS.

God I can't wait for us to play these losers next year. Somebody might OOOOOPS at Madubuike's knees when he's engaged on a block. Wouldn't that be an awful shame?

RealSNR 01-31-2024 07:05 PM

Also find it funny that everybody lost their minds over the Chiefs not drafting Travis Jones that one year, and he's the one with that dirty ass clothesline on Mahomes.

Well, looks like he also goes on the list of people I wish would die in a fire.
