Gutsy MF'n Call FTSBW!!!

I was screaming at the TV for us to call a TO and the ball snapped. One ****ing slip up and we lose because the clock runs out.

I am sure the idea was to have 1 or 2 seconds left to kick the FG but damn they cut that shit close!!!

Okay, guess I didn't quite get the OT rules for the SB.....

Jewish Rabbi 02-11-2024 10:14 PM

There’s your daily reeruned Pete thread boys

I guess I am confused by the OT rules then. Would they have allowed us to pick up in the next quarter because we still had possession?

It is two 15 minute quarters.

We are allowed to complete the drive

I mean, tonight's performance probably isn't your best argument for this topic. This was easily one of Andy's worst play calling games I've seen.

It is as many quarters as needed. If no one scores it could hypothetically be 6 quarters.

I think there would have been a halftime if I remember correctly, if we went through the second quarter

Edit, they call it an intermission and it’s between each 15 minute period I think.

After the fourth overtime period There is another coin flip. crazy.

Meh, I think everyone at the party thought the same thing. Makes a lot more sense now. I didn't catch the 2 quarters deal and how that worked.

Okay I totally thought the game was going to end at first too. I was screaming for a timeout.

notorious 02-11-2024 10:30 PM

I, along with my entire family was with you Pete. Wasn’t listening to the dumbass play by play so I must have missed it.

It's a fair misconception, just delightfully on brand

Just saw that. I think everyone was a little confused for the most part about the rules.

This begs the question.

Why even have a game clock in playoff overtime? You can't have a tie. There's no second halftime.

The play clock should be the only clock.

All plays are documented with a time stamp. I assume that's at least part of it.

Pete and Mecole both "blacked out"(didn't know the OT rules)ROFL

They literally showed the OT rules prior to OT. The Chiefs are entitled to a full possession.

Not to important inside, but you switch sides every quarter? There are still the occasional SB played outside like the one at SF.

I missed it. Speaking with family must have been more important at the time.

dirk digler 02-12-2024 07:47 AM

I admit I did the same thing Pete. I knew both teams got 1 possession and if tied after that it goes to sudden death. But I thought you had to score in that 1st quarter regardless. Makes sense though I guess since a team could take most of the quarter on a drive and leave the other team screwed.

But hey we are fans and the 49ers players had no idea either. Our guys did though.

Thats pretty awesome. Our guys were taught and strategy was outlined back in training camp. 49ers were learning about the rules from the Jumbotron when OT happened.

We are such a smart, well coached team.

I was too but it makes sense. If both teams are entitled to a full possession you have to ignore the end of OT. In the regular season it would have been the end of the game.
