Jonathon Brooks

This goes against everything I stand for but.........where are we gonna have to draft this guy?

I think he's the best RB in the draft. He's Gibbs 2.0

Take him in the 3rd round and be done with it.

Would rather have Jaylen Wright and you can probably get him a round later.

I like Wright alot but Brooks looks to me to be a bit shiftier.

O.city 02-15-2024 09:50 AM

And I think Brooks might catch it a bit better.

But if I had to wait on a round and take Wright, I'm good with that.

staylor26 02-15-2024 09:52 AM

He's my RB1, but he's not making it to the 3rd. I don't even think he'll be there at 64.

Even with the torn ACL?

I think he's a top 40 player before the injury, and it will probably push him out of the top 50, but he's still RB1 in a weak class. I think he goes somewhere in between 51-63. Could be wrong, but I definitely don't see him making it to our 3rd.

I don't think the Chiefs are able to commit that valuable of a pick to what I would deem a luxury. Big fan of both Brooks and Jaylen Wright though.

O.city 02-15-2024 10:15 AM

This goes against everything I believe but.....

The Chiefs have stayed ahead of the curve of the league by zigging when everyone zags.

Built the dynamic offense, built a bully defense, now.....similar to how the Pats did with the 2 tight end stuff....go with 2 RB's. Brooks can really catch it too.

kozzman555 02-15-2024 10:25 AM

I've looked into Brooks and Wright, but I'd prefer if we would pick up MarShawn Lloyd or Emani Bailey later in the draft to be a McKinnon replacement.

ntexascardfan 02-15-2024 10:25 AM

Take Texas' third down back, Keilan Robinson, in the seventh round and have a plug 'n play replacement for McKinnon. Dude can catch out of the backfield, occasionally lined up in the slot, was solid in pass protection, was Texas kick returner, and popped 21 mph several times last season.

O.city 02-15-2024 10:44 AM

Wasn't there some smoke last year that they wanted Gibbs?

Couch-Potato 02-15-2024 01:18 PM

Going to be a really exciting draft if we're going in looking for playmakers.

It'll be really interesting to see what we do at RB. Brooks would be exciting!

I like Wright a lot, and a handful of others would fit in KC as well.

kccrow 02-15-2024 04:37 PM

Don't get me wrong, I like Brooks, but he's no Gibbs. Gibbs was a ****ing unicorn. Does not have the same acceleration or agility and I don't think the speed matches either. Brooks is a good player though. I'd guess he goes mid-to-late 2.

We zigged with CEH, that was a waste. I would have definitely taken Gibbs with #32 last year though.

Hindsight is 20:20, eh?

Couch-Potato 02-17-2024 03:03 PM

If we went RB early I'd be excited too, but like others have implied it better be the right pick.

Probably.

2 knee 'splosions and 2 missed NFL seasons before he even takes a professional snap.

I hope he invested his signing bonus wisely...

He played last year but barely. I remember only because it was a huge deal fantasy-wise for those that stashed him most of the season only for him to get a handful of touches. Tore the same ACL that he tore in college too.

How is he out for the 2025 season? The active PUP designation means he'd count towards the 90-man limit and can participate in everything but practices. He can be activated at any time, unlike IR, unless he doesn't get activated before cuts to the 53, then he'd be transitioned to reserve PUP and has to sit out at least 4 weeks.

I believe if the player is put on the 'Reserve' PUP list prior to cutdowns, it's akin to putting a guy on the IR prior to cutdowns.

If you do that, he's out for the year.

You can put them on the 'active' PUP list prior to final roster cuts and THEN move them over to the Reserve list and the regular old 4 game rule thing applies.

But I believe (and won't bet my life on this) that if you put them on that reserve PUP at any point prior to the roster cut-down, that's you calling no-joy on their season and ending their year.
