***2024 NFL Combine Thread***
Bout that time fellas. Post all things combine related
|
Saw a note somewhere that the Chiefs brass and Jones camp are supposed to re engage talks at the combine.
|
WHO ELSE IS HORNEEEEY?
|
Wow. Legit chance the guy falls IMO
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I like Brock Bowers plenty, and we get a bit too height and weight-ist with these things sometimes (especially on a prospect with the playmaking evidence he's provided), but you'd sure hope he's at least 6'2" from the tight end position. <br><br>(<a href="https://t.co/H6CHlNGkhG">https://t.co/H6CHlNGkhG</a>) <a href="https://t.co/LDe8qFe7bW">pic.twitter.com/LDe8qFe7bW</a></p>— Matt Clapp (@DaBearNecess) <a href="https://twitter.com/DaBearNecess/status/1762207907226194400?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 26, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

I hope that Brock Bowers’s height allows Marvin Harrison Jr to fall to 32.
|
There is 0 chance Bowers falls to 32, that’s for sure.

I'm a casual fan, but everytime I watched him play the announcers basically made it seem like he was the biggest ****ing TE ever to play. Just a monster. Guess not |

Ok you draftabulating geniuses , which receiver and/or tight end are we taking early and late?
We're revamping this receiver group above all else and you people know it, the defense is mostly locked in... give us a couple receivers, and Kelce's heir apparent while you're at it |

Kelce shits bigger than Bowers.

Whose wiener do we hope falls out of their shorts this year?
|
Can somebody just tell me who to get all horny about so I can watch the Chiefs not draft him for three rounds before he gets taken and then I can be so ****ing pissed and then he sucks?

In all honesty I think Noah Gray is 6'3." That's only an inch taller than Brock. IDK. |
At this point CP needs to look at bringing in Bowers to fix the server when it shits the bed.
|
Why is he listed everywhere at 6'4"? Lying?
|
Quote:
|
PFF has Brock Bowers listed at 6'4." Gronk is a full 6'7" if memory serves me correctly. So maybe it's just a bad angle? Gronk is three inches taller anyhow.
|
Gronk was 6'6 265 (JFC), Kelce is a legit 6'5 250.
They are some of the greatest to ever play, Kelce being the greatest, but still. Gronk and Kelce look big next to NFL talent. Bowers doesn't look big next to college guys. |
Marvin Harrison Jr is doing odd things. Schefter Tweeted he's not doing the combine, he's not going through an agent, and he may not be at his Pro Day either.
My oh my... |

Bowers' arms are ludicrously long though, which may mitigate him not being as tall.
|
Quote:
He's a QB, so he just gets a boost because of positional value. The Bears wish they had a franchise QB so they could just take Harrison Jr. |

That's a horrible picture of him.
It looks like Gronk is tutoring a kid from the Special Olympics. |

This is a perfect reason why the retirement stuff was always weird and dumb. They just came off back to back Sb wins and they're......grinding at the combine.
They're just wired differently. It's just what they do. |
(Someone needs to post DJ's data/take on TE height. It seems to apply here)

I would spend pick 32 on Franklin, as long as something crazy didn't happen like Brian Thomas Jr. or Keon Coleman fell that far. I don't think there is anyway in hell that happens, though. Obviously. I would take Worthy in the second round, depending on what we do in free agency, and what we do with our first pick. I know players like Williams in Detroit and Smith in Philly have shown that speed can make up for the lack of size, but it would be hard to draft him and not have him return kicks, and he only weighs like 160 pounds, and that's a lot of injury potential on returns. I know some have already said they hate him, but AD Mitchell would be a very good compliment to Rice. He is big, fairly fast, but he is a really smooth route runner, and could potentially learn how to eat up zone from Kelce. I was high on Xavier Legette in the second/third until he measured at the Senior Bowl. Only 6'1" with small hands, instead of the 6'3" that South Carolina listed him as. I can also see BV taking Corley, Polk, or even McConkey in the second. It will be interesting to see combine numbers for Brenden Rice. I would not hate spending a late round pick on Luke McCaffrey, depending on how the rest of the draft went. He started his college career as a QB, and Andy and Veach seem to like former QBs, and it's not conventional, but I think he would be a great weapon if he could kinda take the McKinnon (former QB) role in the offense. I know he is listed as WR, but I think he could just be a general weapon catching the ball. Also, he seems to have great hands. Also, Anthony Gould would be a great last pick, again, depending on how the draft went. We need a reliable returner, and he was an All-American returning kicks. If we fill our needs before our last pick, and someone crazy isn't available, it might make sense. |

Veach is going to be aggressive. That all want that first 3-peat.

Probably reading into it too much, but someone asked about Chris & Sneed, and Veach said "he's at the top of the list" referring to Chris and continuing on.
Again, probably nothing, but for those trying to read tea leaves for FA, there ya go. |
Goal is to resign both Jones & Sneed, he anticipates having to use the tag, but hopes to get a deal that makes sense with both guys.
|
That means tagging Sneed, there ain't no way they are tagging Jones at 30+ million.
|
Basically, one of them will be here at worst.
|

It would be amazing if Kelce dating Swift helped us keep both Jones and Sneed, and led to the 3-peat. |
I still think it ends up being a tag & trade for Sneed. He was elite this past season, but you don't pay future money for past results, you pay for what you project their performance will be throughout the contract.
Sneed's value for securing big dollars will never be higher, and at the same time, his trade value will likely not be higher. No one would blame him for playing hardball to secure as much money as possible - he has the rings. We have McDuffie and some young guys already waiting in the wings at CB. If Veach can somehow finagle a late 1st (unlikely) from an NFC team, that's a no-brainer. More likely is a 2nd and change. But who knows - maybe he goes all-in and pays both guys. It just doesn't seem like a Veach move. |

Sneed probably has 4 more high end years in him he'll then be a good player for 2-3 after that.
If you want to trade him you're drafting a CB really high because having 2 CB's they trust out there is a big reason the defense works. |

With the extra cap space this year, a team might be more willing to do the trade a pick AND pay for a guy.
|
Thing is, man there's just rookies coming out and playing well every year.
I don't think the Lions are really in "all in" mode to do it. |

We've started Josh Williams in big games. They're not dominant but they're solid trustworthy corners. |
I think they trust Williams, Watson I dunno though and if you do that both of them are on the field in Nickel downs which is going to weaken the coverage.
I think they very smartly and strategically mix Williams and Watson based on matchups and coverages, if you lose that one or both could get exposed to a degree. |

My gut right now says we sign Chris and trade LJ and sell it as doing him a favor and getting him max pay from someone else
Just like Dee Ford, but a better player |
