HOLY SHIT! I'm not sure how to process this. A 5 year deal wasn't even on my radar. So much guaranteed. Is this a good idea? Gonna choose to believe yes.

Jones is worth every penny we are giving him, I could care less if it’s 40 mil a year. Hes that damn good. We have zero wins without him and that’s just a fact

Since it’s a 5 year deal, he should be back for the 7peat.

That's my concern, in non contract years his performance has been a little lackluster.

Wow Veach unloaded the cap for the man. He paid him what he wanted.

I fully expect a Mahomes restructure tomorrow and a Sneed trade soon. Need to crush this next draft to offset this contract.

Love it! I know some are concerned about the cap hit and the long term viability, but Jones is a game-wrecking defensive player who was the 2nd most valuable player on 3 title teams and will undoubtedly be a key factor on more to come.

I imagine they probably have a Sneed deal they like. Next 48hrs we hear there’s a deal for a 2-ish equivalent. Then onward and upward.

My take: it’s a lot, lot easier to envision this team without Sneed than Jones. Our defense will suffer some but the secondary has talent and some potential depth. We really needed him on the DL.

The chances for him living up to the 4th and 5th year cost of this contract has got to be really low. But he's probably worth it for the next two. And hopefully not fallen off terribly in the 3rd year.

We are in pretty good shape. This may be a better deal than we think for the Chiefs. with 95 Guaranteed over 5 years. Allows Chris to stay and say he is the highest paid DT of all time with a big 5th year, and allows the Katz brothers to look good. It will be fun to see the details. Either way, I trust Veach.
