Darren Waller Retires
I guess he's banking on his career in the music biz.
Per Rapoport: Sources: Giants TE Darren Waller has informed the team he plans to retire, walking away at the age of 31 after just one season with NYG. Waller hasn’t attended workouts, and the team had known for some time he may not play. Now, he’s officially let them know before minicamp. |
Well, bye.
|
I know that last year didn't go well with the Giants. But not much of anything else did either. He looked pretty good with the Raiders. I kinda expected to see Giants flop him to someone for a 7th or just cut him and he would land elsewhere. But, maybe he just doesn't want to play anymore. Who knows? I'm just glad that he's no longer a weapon for the Faiders

He spits hot fire.
|
i remember when he was going to help the raiders win the afc west LMAO

No way he could step back in a locker room after dropping that song
|
Raiders gave him a second chance and he cleaned up and played on fire for a couple years. Then he got into his rap crap and started hanging and believing his new entourage and lost his love for football.

He clearly just wanted to get a piece of that contract then retire. Sad but reality it seems.
He did come from the Raiders so I would expect nothing less. |
I really thought he was a great TE. Not sure what the **** happened except Raidered.
|
Let me know the last NFL player you can remember that moved on from the Raiders and wasn't complete ass.
What a waste of an NFL franchise. Raiders....where careers go to die! |

He looked unstoppable for a preseason game or two with the Giants until he channeled his inner Sammy Watkins.

We had awesome players like Art Still and Gary Barbero that could have been Hall of Famers on another team These two guys were incredible. There were many more |
I believe the giants used the pick we traded them for kt to trade for Waller so the giants basically traded kt for Waller.
|
He got that Raider in him.

They traded the Toney pick we gave them for Waller.. maybe that pick is just cursed

He almost died apparently. Had a medical episode recently stemming from covid and that led to his retirement.

Honestly I liken him to Jeremy Shockey when he was in the league, everyone kept telling me how great this guy was going to be and then he was gone and nobody really cared. I feel for his personal story, but outside of maybe helping win some fantasy leagues for guys, he really didn't do anything in his career that's memorable.

Well, he went out on top. At least that's what I was told. Just him and Travis Kelce. Borg & McEnroe, Ali & Frazier, Celtics & Lakers, Blur & Oasis, Archie Bunker & Meathead. Sad it's all over.

This was a long time coming. He milked a hamstring injury in 2021. I am not surprised. |

A great talent who walked through hell and saw everything fall apart. Then one day he gets spotted by Gruden warming up for the Ravens and the rest is history. Imo on his best day he could dominate games like Travis, Gronk and Kittle. Sadly he never got to play with decent QB's.
I hope he continues doing his music and if he's smart he'll fight to get his wife back. Now he's retired he probably has a better chance as she was balling in vegas when he was in New York. |
