RIP Jerry West

What a great life that dude had. RIP. What a team he built with Kobe and Shaq.

RIP to one of the most influential people in the history of the NBA.

Rain Man 06-12-2024 09:08 AM

I hope they don't change the logo to a tombstone or something. Or at least not permanently.

Wisconsin_Chief 06-12-2024 09:09 AM

That’s a big one.

RIP.

scho63 06-12-2024 09:17 AM

I caught the 2nd half of his career with Gail Goodrich, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor and Happy Hairston. Pat Riley was on the team too but I don't remember him as a player.

Loved watching him against the Knicks and Celtics.

Great career and from all accounts a really great guy.

I could not say it better. The NBA was actually very watchable back when he was such a big part of it. Pure class! RIP Mr. West.

Vlade Divac for Kobe Bryant will be his legacy as a general manager. He also helped build the 2010s Warriors. Dumb ass Buss kids ran him off.

MarkDavis'Haircut 06-12-2024 09:33 AM

He died twice?

Kman34 06-12-2024 09:38 AM

If they had a 3 point line when he played he would probably hold the scoring record. Great NBA executive too.

Buehler445 06-12-2024 09:49 AM

RIP. Dude doesn’t get his due.

srvy 06-12-2024 09:53 AM

RIP Zeke from Cabin Creek!! One of my all time favorites in an era when I enjoyed the NBA. Growing up number 44 was the number sought after if you played BB.

Rest Peacefully in Basketball Heaven

Penz was actually first on the official CP atomic clock.

Not true

srvy 06-12-2024 10:45 AM

Ok on my desktop it showed Penz 9:56 and yours was 10 something. Mods merged and now shows on my computer you at 9:55. Strange but doesn't matter still a sad day for fans of BB.

BWillie 06-12-2024 10:54 AM

He doesn't even get to see who Lebron hires as coach

Not at all. He can pass the ball out his asshole but he would always lose to them.

Mine was 10:55 a.m. ET, Penz was 10:56 a.m. ET. Also, Penz's was above mine on the page, which indicates his was posted after mine.

The thread merge defaults to the oldest thread, even though sometimes it can do wonky things like swap the username and content of each OP.

Huge loss. Sad. R.I.P.

GabyKeepsMeWarm 06-12-2024 12:03 PM

Yeah, today is a sad day, RIP to one of the all time greats. He could have played in any era. Hopefully the younger generation will appreciate him like the greatest player of all time does:

I'll always remember him from the 60 ft shot at the buzzer against the Knicks.

Legend.

Couch-Potato 06-13-2024 10:59 AM

With the greatest respect to Jerry West, it's not time to change the NBA logo to the Air Jordan logo.

Pass the torch.
