I think it's interesting that extraterrestrials being on Earth at all would almost certainly mean some of our fundamental knowledge of physics is completely wrong.

Given the size of the visible universe, it's almost impossible. Not quite, but close.

I can agree with that but we probably know enough. However it is very likely almost to a certainty that aliens exist somewhere in the universe and also very likely they have never visited earth.

Almost the only way aliens could interstellar travel is to be AI. It would be extremely difficult for biological civilizations.

I was a big fan of the show back in the day. I'm sure it's aged like milk, especially the SFX, but it was appointment viewing in its time.

It's just interesting to me that Harvard would initiate a study like this, much less actually publish it. Went from scoffing at the idea of UFOs/ETs, to not only publicly admitting that they exist, but now actually attempting to study them.

It's not exactly a study. More of a thought experiment. The authors are psychology profs. They aren't presenting any evidence or making any actual claims.

Around 30 years ago I came across a book that was supposedly a biography about the writer meeting a captured ET back in the 50s or 60s. The ET claimed it was really a synthetic biological construct with an AI 'brain' that had been cloned from an actual living ET. And that had traveled from another galaxy, thousands of years travel time, to explore a part of our galaxy and had crash landed on Earth.

The book was published in the late '60s, iirc, and some of the things the ET allegedly predicted in terms of technology were amazingly accurate.

The effects were better however it concentrated on a young character that I found unlikeable and boring. The woman playing the leader looked like she was really enjoying the role however the writing was just not very good. Even a bunch of pretty people won't save a show when the writing is bad.

I agree with this. Their technology would be indistinguishable from magic or miracles by the standards of more primitive societies, so you get burning bush stories.

I think there’s a history before what’s recorded that wasn’t comprehensible for early man. I think they probably held our hands and got us up and running when they dumped us here. The Bible mentions small g gods that were segregated in the world. Probably different types or breeds of aliens or whatever managing different regions as some kind of an alliance. Like the United Nations or something. Each leaving their own signature. Most all religions mention a great flood. Maybe this is where they wiped the evidence and our competitors out.
