BFIB give ovation for Skenes
LMAO
wtf is this absolutely pathetic cuck behavior? https://www.si.com/mlb/paul-skenes-d...cardinals-fans |
The Cardinal fans who paid to be there were just happy to see good baseball on that day.
|
And to a division rival? Seems a bit much.
|
6 1/3rd innings.
****ing baseball. |

“We really are the best, aren’t we??” “Sure are. Salt of the earth honest Midwestern folk!” |
It’s weird as hell.
But I’ll tell you what, that dude is fun to watch and it’s not just because of his girlfriend. Dude is an incredible pitcher |

I said it when I saw it last night and that one guy did like 4 exaggerated cap tips. It was ****ing pathetic. He didn't no-hit you. He didn't even exit with the lead. He was good. For almost a whole 7 innings. He gets a standing ovation for that nonsense? ****ing BFIB. These are the same clowns that gave Brandon Moss a standing ovation for getting traded to them. And Paul DeJong a standing ovation when he came back as a White Sox after he sucked for the better part of a half decade. It's pathetic and performative garbage. These idiots are the reason DeWitt won't make any meaningful change. He knows he has clowns like this that will lap up whatever gruel he serves them and then pat themselves on the back for being so compliant. |
It's been a very, very long time since anyone can cheer for the Pirates or their players.
We haven't been a real threat to anyone for 45 years and a minor obstacle during McCutchen's best years. Not worth getting your panties in a bunch over this. |
Is it any different than the beta Sporting KC fans that simped for Messi at Arrowhead Stadium?

But hey if it means the self-proclaimed BFIB want to prop up a Bucco, so be it. |
Those dumbasses gave Paul Dejong a standing O too like it was Yadi returning to Busch.
They keep Bill and Mo fat and happy. (I see DJ already said it more eloquently than I did) |
This thread is full of knuckle-dragging simpletons who will never be able to figure out the complicated rocket surgery math that is the double switch.
The BFIB have tried to teach us all about it but we're just too stupid to appreciate its majestic beauty. |

Pitchers with stuff like Skenes end up getting Tommy John real quick. He's Stephen Strasburg 2.0, essentially, with a 102mph heater and 4 other pitches that are all good that he commands.
Strasburg got his Tommy John his rookie season and of course was never the same. So how many starts does Skenes have left before he goes the same route? 5? 8? Maybe 12? How much is it worth to you to see one of those 5-12 starts? I'd personally pay a significant premium to see a pitcher with that type of stuff during the very brief window while he still has it. I went to a Royals game a few weeks ago and it was $50 per ticket for pretty good seats and I wouldn't think twice about paying 10 times that if it somehow was a Skenes start. So, these aren't normal Cardinals fans that were at that game. People that are indifferent to the visiting pitcher would have sold their tickets. People that would pay a premium to see that pitcher would have bought em. That's the crowd giving him a standing ovation, not run-of-the-mill Cards fans. |

It use to be for a HOF level player making his last appearance, giving up a no hitter in the 9.2 inning that kind of thing. Like DJ said, those fans attending games these days are idiots. |

BBOSIB doesn't really have the same ring to it though

You know damn well Pablo jerked it to the Battlehawks loss Sunday ROFL

So if the Cardinal fans show support and praise for a good player it is a bad thing.
When opponents fans show support for Mahomes it is a good thing..... |
Cardinals fans are douches...and flaming homosexuals.

Anyone that throws like that has been to those 'performance optimization camps' that teach them how to get max velo and spin on every pitch they throw. Those guys break. Twice. If you're lucky, they come back relatively quickly and almost completely intact. But Skenes isn't going to hover at 102 mph for 5 seasons. I doubt he makes it 3. He'll break down, miss a year (nowadays they bring them back so slowly it's almost 2), give you 4-5 healthy seasons and probably break down again. Then by 32 when he comes back from the 2nd implosion, he will probably be working around 95-96 and be more like Garret Cole who's made efforts at finding the line between his peak stuff and staying on the mound. There are no unicorns in these scenarios. We're working the body in a way that gives no heed at all to the fact that ligaments can only take so much strain. And every mechanical tweak designed to increase stuff does so by creating more strain on those ligaments. It's a Sophie's choice. For me, Skenes should be dialed back. He should be throwing 97/98 with less aggressive mechanics that allow him to throw 200+ innings and get outs with natural movement and stuff that's still damn good. But MLB teams have decided otherwise. They're willing to grind these guys into powder and if they're not willing to come along for the ride, they tend to get left behind. |
Remember Noah Syndergaard bulked up one offseason and came out firing with triple digit heat in Grapefruit League play? That was when he was in his prime and he didn't last too long.
I heard Ron Washington in a radio interview recently and they have a reliever Ben Joyce that can dial it up to 104. Washington said his advice to Joyce has been to try to locate his fastball at 98 and only use the 104 when he really needs it in a pressure situation. |
