McDonalds Steak Egg and Cheese Bagel is back in the KC area!
For YEARS it was a tradition to stop at the McDonalds at the Matfield Green Service Area on the way up to a Chiefs game because they were the only McDonalds left that still served the Steak Egg and Cheese Bagel breakfast sammich.
Then ****ing Hardees took over the building. My favorite breakfast sammich was gone. It has been almost a decade since I've had it. I wasn't the only one missing it... and McD's finally responded to the demand. First they re-released it on the coasts and it slowly made its way inward. People who know my love of this sammich sent me a link to a FB group that kept track of where they were being re-released and news finally hit that it was coming back into KC. This morning I had to drive 30 minutes off the farm to take the barn cat to the vet (peeing blood) and decided to take a look at the McD's app on a whim to see if the Excelsior Springs location happened to have it. THEY DID. I would post an image of the breakfast but they were rapidly consumed so instead I will leave you with the knowledge that they are back and money saving tip that the McD's app has a buy one get one free option. https://i.imgur.com/uk77fT7.png |
$6.59? Jesus.

I am not a fast food guy by any stretch, I eat it rarely, but the steak, egg and cheese (and bacon, egg and cheese to a lesser extent) bagels at McD's are an anomaly. They are truly top notch. |
Steak for anything below $30? No thanks. Will taste like shite.
McDonalds double sausage mcmuffin is the goat breakfast item. |

Not here. Commies.
|
That's my favorite McD's breakfast item. I only eat it maybe 2-3 times a year, but when it disappeared for awhile I was crestfallen.
Don't get hung up on the "steak" part. Of course it's not steak. But it still tastes damn good, whatever it is. |
As long as we're talking breakfast food, I fully endorse the BK Jr. Breakfast burrito. The junior, not the big one. Comes with a great tasting picante sauce too.
|
I had me some sausage mcmuffins yesterday with hash browns and large OJ.
My rare breakfast as I hate eggs. Tasted great. I remember that steak sandwich was pretty good but damn it's skyrocket in price . |

They are okay, little too much bagel to steak ratio. I generally don’t eat at McDonalds at all, maybe a filet o fish every now and then. It bothers me my grands eat the shit.

Trying to look at the menu for one of our stores but you require either the McDonald's ordering app or a delivery app. (grubhub for example)
F them. |
It's been in San Diego for a few months now.
And it's very good. One of their best breakfast sammiches. |
Never knew this ever existed. I will try maybe tomorrow morning.
|
Haven't tried it and probably only get McDs a handful of times a year anymore, but if it's BOGO on the app, I'll give it a shot.
|
Is it Wagyu?
|
what are the macros on that bitch
|
You mean "steak"

Got one by accident once. The sauce they put on it wasn't very good.

I used to eat them on occasion, and did enjoy them. The last time I had one, right before they took them off the menu, it was a grease bomb, and I couldn't finish it. I haven't been to McDonald's since. Not specifically because of the sandwich, just because I decided to not eat fast food in general anymore.
|
The steak bagel is indeed excellent, its right up there with Sonics super burrito IMO... yeah the steak is random pieces glued together with food grade gunk but I just don't care, it still tastes like steak

Doc says I can't eat bagles any more. Too many carbs. But when these were out before I always thought they were good. Sometimes the "steak" was a little grisly and chewy, but usually a good sandwich. Actually a better one used to be a Steak n Shake. You could get a steakburger, egg and cheese on a bagel, and that sandwich was outstanding too. Now I usually go to a little place called the Connect Cafe at 8th and Armstrong in downtown KCK. Great people, great breakfast, reasonable prices.
|
I make my own McMuffin knockoffs every morning at work. They taste just as good as McDonalds and they are far less expensive. Also, the only disgruntled employee I have to worry about spitting on my food is me.

some of these places need to get back to all day breakfast....yeah, Im hungry

Working out west seems everything is served on sourdough. You ask for bacon and eggs with wheat or white toast they look down there nose at you. I got burned out on sourdough. The Thomas EM is pretty mildly flavored though. |
i always loved watching my 5 foot nothin' grandma house one of these babies

Its been a month or so, I'm overdue |
I love McDonalds breakfast but I tried that steak and cheese bagel about 15 years ago and it was easily the worst breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had a McDonalds.

Had one in Pensacola about 8 years ago.
Pretty damn good. |

Still tasted pretty good but I needed like a six foot long piece of paper towel to clean up all the grease and sauce... I'm good on these for a while now |

Sorry it didn't work out for ya. |

The place was absolutely slammed, so I'm sure they were all in there just wishing we'd all go away |
Still mildly pissed as I can't get them in my town but didn't get there until 9:45, so it's my fault.
|
Sooooo... Yeah.
I ordered 3 steak and one bacon. First had to wait in line at the drive thru behind 20 cars. Ordered. So, ordered and they hadn't ran out of them. Bonus! Get up to pay, the register was ****ing up or something. That took awhile. Get up to the delivery window, could you please pull over to lane 1? Sure. Guy brings them out and I started looking in the bag and he says 3 steak egg and cheese Bagels and one bacon. See them in the bag, yup even the wrappers say so. Perfect! Get to where I was going and only two steak and the bacon. Mother****er. So gave those to ordered them and still didn't get one. I've resolved myself that I just won't. Alas Joe Pesci was right... |

I tried one this morning because if this thread. It was barely edible. For that type of calorie investment, I expected much more.

Going to McD's every once in a while means turning off all worries about triglycerides, salt, calories, fat etc... I don't give a ripping fart about that when I need some quick pancakes, eggs, sausage and taters |

When I go for a big breakfast, I'm not there to quiz the person over the mic about trans fats and health concerns... just gimme some frozen then steamed pancakes slam full of preservatives, and let me get home with it ASAP |
