I loved Bo Jackson so much. I’ve hated everything Raider my whole life, but still had Bo’s Nikes with the 34 on the heels. Probably still the greatest athlete of all time.
|
Oh HELL YEAH!!
|
Terrence Gore was almost as athletic as Bo Jackson. But Gore just couldn’t play baseball.

HERE WE GO ROYALS HERE WE GO!

The royals ticket office did me a solid on this game. I went to buy two late Thursday and accidentally bought Sunday. Emailed an account rep and they called me first thing Friday morning, recalled those and the parking pass and switched it to this game for me.

Bo Jackson was a great athlete. But people love to embellish and make him out as if he was the best athlete ever. There have been plenty of guys as good or better athletes than him. Jackson one of the more overrated players there has been because people back then just went into a frenzy about the two way sport thing. They did the same thing with Deion Sanders. Kyler Murray could have been a 1st round pick in baseball and football as well and literally nobody gives a shit. Nowadays you just pick a sport. |

Hopefully Ragans brings the good stuff today. On the other side, Bibee has been pitching well, so runs might be at a premium this afternoon. A win would glorious. LFG!

Let's Go Royals!!

18% caught stealing rate Gore. And Gore was put in the game literally to only steal bases so there was no surprise factor to help him be more successful. And Gore is just some random athletic guy I picked out of the air. But Bo Jackson ran up a wall! I one time saw him out run a Ferrari. He jumped over a two story building! My dads buddies grandpa said he saw him throw out a guy standing in Utah and home plate in California! These stories just keep getting more embellished every year. Its like how every year the fish you caught gets bigger. |
You don't shit talk Bo Jackson in any way on his day dude. Give it a rest

**** him. |
Bo Jackson was amazing. He split time between two sports and he still managed to put up a wOBA of .380 and a 140 OPS+ playing the difficult sport of baseball at age 27 before his hip injury.

Looks like the Royals are back in the final WC spot by 11/2 games at the moment over Baahston.

Bo being awesome in his speech. But it is hilarious that all of his best friends are old white dudes from Leawood. Lol.
|
Ultimately, one of the reasons why Bo is being recognized today is he transcended baseball. He was a national star. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Bo and Ken Griffey Jr. were national childhood heroes. Every kid in grade school wanted their baseball cards. I felt like they were almost like the last two baseball players that transcended the sport and by the mid-1990s, NBA and NFL players had surpassed MLB players in popularity.
I don't think MLB has had that type of star since Bo and Griffey. |
I missed Bo Jackson's first major league home run, because I was in the commissary getting another load of Cokes to sell in the stands, but I'll never forgot the sound in Royals Stadium when he got his first outfield assist, versus the Twins on September 9, 1986, five days before the homer. Mickey Hatcher was at first base when Hrbek hit a single to right field, where Bo was playing. Hatcher tried to make it to third and as it became apparent that there might be a play, the Royals Stadium crowd roar was the usual sort, until fans started processing the throw that Jackson made. It was incredible. It seemed to me that when Hatcher was called out, there was a moment of silence in the stands as folks were still trying to register what they just saw, and then loud cheers. Ive been to hundreds of major league games and I don't remember any other moment where the crowd roar noticeably modulated like that due to dis-****in'-belief, and the thing is, that play doesn't even get talked about when folks talk about Bo's legend, because he did so many other incredible things in his career.
That guy did things that other players simply couldn't. There's a reason why his fellow players considered him a legend and so too do those of us lucky to have seen him play. |
Does Denny have cancer?
|
Cleveland Indians ROFL
Bo knows speeches well done HOFer |
Isn't part of the deal when getting hit by a pitch, in order to take your base you have to make some sort of effort to get out of the way and not just stand there like a ****ing dope ready to get a free bag for doing nothing?
|
Cmon Cole get the **** outta this
|
Ragans changing the vibe real quick.
|
Good job to mitigate
|
That could have been a lot worse. Come on offense get to work early please.
