Rings-do you wear them?
I am not much of a jewelry dude. No bracelets, necklaces, occasionally a decent watch. Not even a wedding band.
I wear a decent Fitbit metal banded (daily) watch for a watch (time) and to monitor steps and such. My son doesn't wear one because he has his phone to look at the time. Not me, I need to glance at my "watch" to see the time, not dig my phone out of my pocket. It is hard to accessorize for a guy, IMO, other than a watch and or a ring. I have some decent watches that I wear for special occasions, not daily. My job doesn't need that. I am sure that there is some though. Back to rings. My go to is wedding band, college ring. Not daily though. I just bought a VERY simple black onyx ring: https://www.ottasilver.com/basic-squ...ack-onyx-dy205 It has some meaning. Most guys I know, don't wear rings. I haven't. Just thoughts.... |
I'm not married and not gay, so no

When I was looking into watches. It came down to what makes you happy, as too style. I think this is the same.
|
I have two rings that I wear - my wedding ring and also a gold ring I got in the Black Hills many years ago. I don't wear them daily, but pretty much any time I go out with the wife doing something social.
I lost my original wedding ring (to current wife) while driving. It blew off while I had the my arm out the window driving on the interstate. The ring itself was nothing special, and I like the replacement better anyway. Lost my first wedding ring (to the ex) while swimming in the Bahamas. Got a replacement for that one as well - ending up hocking it for gas money. :D |

I agreed, when going out. How the heck does a ring "blow off" in the wind? |

In the end, I guess, it is like tattoos. What ever makes you happy, watches, bracelets, rings.
In the end, though, I can choose when to wear them unlike tattoos:) |
I have my wedding ring that I wear on my days off but normally I just wear a rubber wedding band.
|
I’m so confused? What makes accessorizing hard for men?
You get the same shit we get. You even get a crossbody tactical bag for a purse. |
I wear a wedding band that I’m not sure will slide over my knuckle, even with soap. I also wear a pinky ring related to my profession. I’m not a mobster.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineer%27s_Ring I haven’t worn a watch since I started carrying a phone. |
Huh?
I guess I am just a guy. I expect women to have a purse. That would be pretty handy BTW. Social norms, men don't have purses. Thus hard to accessorize. Bad example.. I guess beards can be an accessory... Dunno. I ended my thoughts, in that what ever makes you happy. In some fields, careers it is so MUST. Not mine.. I just wanted to get some thoughts from REAL men in the CP world:) |

Damn, I just realized that I have more posts on this thread then brdsemy69 in 14 yrs |
I wear 4 rings , a watch and a necklace.
|
Try some earrings, nipple piercings or the Prince Albert. Face tattoos would be a good also.
|
I have a "Lord of the Rings" wedding band that I literally never take off. Other than that, I inherited a pinky ring from my father (who never wore it either, at least not that I can recall. I think it was something he picked up long before I was born).
When I first got married 30 years ago, I would take it off all the time (shower, work whatever) and of course I lost it. Went to a pawn shop, bought a nice plain gold band and it's never come off my hand. |
No rings.
When I got married I found the wedding band made my knuckles ache when I did anything requiring grip strength. I would take it off & put it in my pocket. Afraid I would lose it like I did my HS ring, I put it away. Still have the ring & still have the wife after 30 years. No jewelry, just an old watch. |
I wear my wedding band (obviously), a necklace, and a smart watch every day. I have other jewelry and watches that I wear when we go out.
|
I’m married, but don’t wear a wedding band. Lost one somewhere in the barracks in Grafenwohr, Germany about 20 years ago, and lost the second one after I took it off in a gym on post a few years after that. I hate the feel of rings on my fingers, so I just don’t bother anymore. My wife doesn’t sweat me about it. Neither of us care about jewelry.
I wear a Garmin watch, and like you, I have a nicer one for formal occasions. So, just a watch for practical reasons. |
My wife and I, when we first got married had just come out of bad divorces.....so when we got married, we decided on simple wedding bands....nothing fancy.
On our 20th anniversary we decided for our Christmas gift to each other, to buy nice (not expensive) wedding ring for her and a wedding band for me. And that is what we both wear to this day. Our original wedding bands we put in a small designer box that my daughter asked to have a few years back. It is displayed on her mantle next to the picture my wife and I had made on our 35th wedding anniversary. I wear a wrist watch daily....not anything fancy. No necklace...no bracelet...nothing extra. Guess I am an old geezer. |
Gold watch, diamond ring, I ain’t missing not a single thing.
|
Wedding band, MIA/KIA bracelet with my friends info on it, also carry a cross body sling bag pretty much everywhere. No watch, earrings or necklaces
|
Never, ever trust a guy with a pinkie ring. Especially if he’s named Lefty.
|
I don't wear any type of jewelry these days. Had a college ring, but it was stolen by a druggie who robbed my apartment.
Used to wear a gold wedding ring, until I developed an allergy or some sort of reaction to gold. Took it off and haven't worn one since. I do wear a RoadID for when I'm cycling. That way the EMTs & police have some way to identify me when I get smashed by a car. |

The amount of rings people have on their their fingers directly correlates to the amount of cray they have , anything more than 1 is weird.
|
I stopped wearing my wedding ring regularly a decade ago when I started working from home mostly because I never went anywhere so I never thought of putting it on
It got so bad I actually went on vacation with my wife and forgot my ring. I rallied and said we could do some role playing. Since then though I make a concerted effort to put it on every morning whether I'm going anywhere or not I should go put it on now while I'm thinking about it That's it though, I don't really like having stuff on me |

I can't stand wearing rings. My wedding band is tattooed on my finger.
That way I won't lose it, it won't catch on machinery and its always on. |

I used to wear my father's old wedding ring on my right hand, but it was constantly getting bent so I stopped. I had an old Timex LED watch I'd wear if I had to attend some "important" function, but lost that when my house burned down. I wore a couple of diamond studs when I had long hair and was a gigging musician. I'm jewelry naked 99.9% of the time now.

Wedding ring. Pixel Watch. That's it.
|
Guys don’t wear rings because we expect you to do things.
Like chop wood and fend off bears. Now ask why we wear $100+ fake nails. |

(I actually just cranked that song because of your post, and oddly my dog did not like it. lol) |

And I'm not asking about $100 fake nails. I'm just walking away because I've met you before and I'm not interested. |
Nope. Too many farmers walking around without a left ring finger.
Closest I have is a pocket knife and safety glasses. |
If I was married I wouldn't even wear a ring. Having something on my finger at all times just drives me insane.
|
wedding ring, no watch, no other jewelry. just not my thing
Wear my SB rings when it is appropriate. |

Got a tungsten wedding ring. It's sturdy metal, you can open beer bottles with it. That's just one of my party tricks.
I feel nekkid w/o it honestly. I take it off if I'm actually doing something where my finger could get ripped off or making meatloaf |
For me just a simple gold wedding band, and when I retired I bought myself a Garmin S62 Golf watch. I wear both all the time. Can't stand necklaces and chains around my neck.
Funny thing before cell phones became all the rage, anybody who had to be anywhere on time wore a watch. I am left handed and always more my watch on my left wrist. Once the cell phone became the thing I ditched the watch. Didn't wear one for over 20 years. Got the Golf watch and in the instructions it says to put it on the lead wrist (right wrist for me). Even after 20 years of no watch I would tend to look at my left wrist to check the time. Took a month or so to stop that habit. |

I wear a Garmin watch every day since I monitor my step counts.
I wear my wedding ring about 30% of the time now. I often don't put it on if I'm just in the house doing nothing. I've also lost a lot of weight this year, so it's fitting dangerously loose now. |

Here's a question. What the heck am I supposed to do with my high school class ring? I've been moving it around for 40 years, and stopped wearing it about a year after high school. It's actually very pretty and it's white gold or platinum or something. It seems like it has too much value to throw away, and nobody's going to buy it, so what do I do?
|
Wedding band and engagement ring. I'd have them fused together, but there are times when I can where my wedding band and not my engagement ring. Never been into bracelets or earrings. I have a few necklaces that I might where depending on the occasion.

I haven't worn a wedding band in I can't remember how long. I was always losing it from having to take it off when working on car, at gym, etc so I just stopped wearing it. Now I have no clue where it is.
I used to wear a watch religously but it started causing weird nerve issues in my hand so I rarely wear one anymore. Even after years of not wearing it very often I still constantly look at my wrist to see what time it is. Then cuss as I have to pull phone out of pocket. |
I have a nice self-winding watch that I like a lot that I used to wear regularly, just out of habit because I'm old and always wore one. One day the little clip/spring thing holding one side of the band popped out and the band separated. I was, again, driving at the time, and tossed the watch in the center console storage compartment (at least it didn't fly out the window). I couldn't find the missing piece, which I assume fell down beside the seat in a spot I wouldn't be able to locate without removing the seat, which isn't ever going to happen. That was a couple of years ago, and the watch is still in that compartment. It's a simple fix and I should take it to a jeweler, but I honestly never looked at the watch anyway and I never think about it.
|
Was never one for watches or necklaces. Just 1 stainless steel wedding band. Never take it off. My true wedding ring stays in the safe. It is 18k white gold with diamonds and sapphires.

A wedding ring, a gold KC Chiefs pinky ring on my right hand and a gold chain around my neck. I've had watches but I've always spent a lot of time on the golf course and I don't like wearing a watch while I play golf. For a number of years I carried a pocket watch on a chain but most pants these days don't have a watch pocket so I quit doing that and like a lot of folks I just look at my cell phone for the time. Which brings me to an idea I've had for a while now. I want an I phone or something similar that's encompassed in case like a pocket watch. A Smart Pocket Watch! It would look like a traditional old fashioned pocket watch in gold or silver or some other precious metal. It would be cool and fashionable. I worry about how the tech would work when combined with a metal though. :hmmm:

Wedding band only.
|
I actually lost my wedding band in the hall on my wedding night , friend found in the following day during clean up , put in a drawer in my bedroom that day and it hasn’t left that spot . I have seen too many swollen fingers swallowing up rings that once I found out how hard it can be to cut off tungsten rings , I parked it.

Other than wedding bands, extra rings on men seems like something for bikers or guys in the 1970s/80s hanging out at The River Market grocery markets or The Shady Lady strip club.

Just a ring and an Apple Watch.
|
I'm far too repressed to wear jewelry.
The exceptions are the wedding band and a smart watch. |
So, to end the discussion. My wife saw the ring and was not impressed. At least she noticed whilst playing cards:) I didn't expect it. I like the ring. It brings back old memories. I am not a jewelry person. I will wear it on special occasions when I feel like it. Much like some of my nice (kinda) watches, not daily wear.
It only cost $80. Not braking the bank... It has been interesting to hear some of fellow CP'ers thoughts. In the end, it is what makes you happy. I will wear it on occasions and see who notices it. Fun and games! So in the end, daily is a Fitbit metal banded watch. I can't go with out a watch and steps. I look at the time too many times to fish in my pants for a phone:) |
That last post is really kind of sad but so long as he’s happy, yay.
A wedding band and an Apple Watch are about the most repressive things there are. |
Wore my grandfather’s wedding band for years. Then one day I was chainsawing some trees and brush on my property. I cut through one decent-sized log but it didn’t fall over. Upper branches were caught with other branches. I grabbed it with my left hand to move it. The log came loose and fell over rather quickly, pinning my hand between the upright log and the stump. The upright log wasn’t real heavy and would not have don’t major damage but it did catch my gold wedding ring, bending it a bit but making it kind of pinch. I got it off that night with soap and water but was reluctant to put it back on.
My wife wants me to wear a ring so she found a rubber wedding ring. Easy to get on and off. Won’t pinch. Easy to take on and off. I sometimes wear a formal watch but usually just a leather wrist band from this company: https://sightlineprovisions.com/coll...ssic-bracelets I have a couple of these, usually with some type of fish or fishing fly or a bear design. It works for me. |
Haven't wore a watch since the advent of the I-phone. Wore one when I worked in a secured area but I hate watches now. Always wore my wedding ring and don't take it off.
|
I wear a wedding ring - the original my wife got me 31 years ago, and a college ring my wife bought me for my 30th birthday 27 years ago. I wear them everyday and only take them off if I’m working outside or playing golf :)

I used to have this awesome set of 20 rings. I loaned away 19 of them but I kept the best one for myself. I lost my finger in a work accident, and then some douchebag named Isildur stole it, then lost it himself. I heard some midgets or something have it now, but I'm not sure. I really need it back! I've been looking for it forever!
PS: look at what that douche did to my finger! https://i.pinimg.com/736x/4d/ae/24/4...9c89a32521.jpg |

I'm googling "what is my 10K white gold class ring worth", and the numbers I'm reading are shocking me. My ring is pretty hefty, and various sites are showing similar versions with values of $300 to $400+, just for the gold weight, I'm presuming. Has anyone ever sold one? If so, how much did you get?
