Be a good Andy Reid backup fixer upper.

New World Order 11-22-2024 10:49 AM

Got that bag and ran.

Jones played the game well

DJ's left nut 11-22-2024 10:50 AM

I wondered why they weren't releasing him when he gave that press conference. It was clear that they told him that he wasn't playing for them again under any circumstances to avoid potentially triggering the injury guarantee.

And if that's the case, he shouldn't even be practicing with them. And if THAT'S the case, why is he on the roster?

This made far too much sense. It almost makes me wonder if the Giants actually did it.

teedubya 11-22-2024 10:50 AM

He was unranked recruit out of HS... played average at Duke... got drafted in the first round by the NYG... lol. Got paid 9 figures.

Good job, Jones.

Red Dawg 11-22-2024 10:51 AM

Wow. He got some cash. He will be the new Flacco. Hang around forever.

BWillie 11-22-2024 10:52 AM

Just who could have known this was coming. He just looked like a transcendent talent. We all thought he would be the next Montana, Elway. How could you give up on such an amazing talent and draft a guy instead? Maybe they can trade for Deshaun or Zach Wulson! Sorry Giants fans. Nobody told you so. Nobody.

I still think there's talent there.

I have no idea how to unlock it - he might just be a stupid player. But he has plus athleticism and throws a really nice ball when he has a pocket and solid weapons.

He's limited, but so are 2/3 of the QBs in this league. He should definitely have a long career as a backup but I wouldn't be shocked to see him latch on again as a starter somewhere in the next 2-3 years.

Wisconsin_Chief 11-22-2024 10:57 AM

He already made shit tons of cash, and now will be a very decent backup for 10 more years. He's really a perfect backup QB.

That said, God it must suck to be a fan of some of these teams. I can't believe this used to be our world. I will never go back, damn it! NEVER! :)

Rain Man 11-22-2024 11:02 AM

Well, that de-escalated quickly.

RunKC 11-22-2024 11:02 AM

Friendly reminder that the report from Rich Eisen at the combine said the Giants were “done with Daniel Jones”.

Daboll desperately wanted Maye and they tried like hell to trade up for him. Shitty position for Daboll to be in

In some ways it’s better than our world as at least they didn’t wait 34 years to take a chance on a QB in round 1. Better to try, fail, and try again vs being afraid to fail and being stuck with bad or 49er QBs (outside of Montana).

Spott 11-22-2024 11:04 AM

Go watch that offseason Hard Knocks you can literally watch Daboll and Schoen have conversations about "We didn't pay a QB 40 million dollars to hand off to a 15 million dollar RB" and "We are giving him offensive weapons we'll know pretty quick if we need to move on"

Buehler445 11-22-2024 11:11 AM

Thats one of the worst pay a QB decisions in quite awhile.

The Giants should be cutting the dumb****s running the franchise.

Not sure why the cowboys would want him this year and not sure why Jones would want to go to a 3-7 team. I mean the Cowboys should be tanking. Jones I would guess either wants a playoff team in need or a nice long term deal. The second would be tough to get.

Would be hysterical if DAL picked him up and started him vs. NYG.

But this was always the foreseeable ending for Danny Dimes. HE's just not very good. I think the only real hope he has of becoming a viable stater, not an elite or top-10 starter just serviceable, is to find a team that wants a Ryan Tannehill-type PA QB. He could maybe stay in the league another 3 or so years and putter along if he could find that kind of fit.

Jones nailed it. He’s gotten 10s of millions…..is young, not a lot of major injuries.

He won the lottery. If I were him I’d build my dream home and spend the rest of my life being awesome every day, and not need a knee replace t at 50.

Nah it's probably the actual word his agent used in talking to Schefter. A 27 year old man has finally found somebody who will nurture him the way he likes to be nurtured.

ThaVirus 11-27-2024 10:46 AM

That verbiage makes me think of one of the games last season. Jones was getting demolished in seemingly every drop back. He made some bad plays and every time he went back to the sideline Daboll had this look like “wtf are you doing?”, “wtf did you see?, “why did you do that?” almost like how you’d treat a small child..

Just wasn’t good optics for a coach on game day. You’d never see Andy doing something like that.

There's a reason Dabel was acting like a maniac...Jones doesn't setup protection because he's too lazy to read defenses and too butt hurt to handle coaches correcting him. Jones has ranked in the bottom tier of QB's the entire time he's been in the league. He's feasted on trash franchises like the Redskins (who played a vanilla defense) and being a mediocre runner. I honestly have no idea what these teams see in his play that makes TEN want to fight amongst themselves to have the luxury of singing this whiny princess. Had two outlier seasons amongst years and years of Vince Young play

Having seen enough of Daniel Jones playing football, I'm willing to give Daboll the benefit of the doubt. It's one maddeningly bad play after another, and I imagine Daboll is constantly thinking "WTF we just talked about this!" Looking pissed off when Daniel Jones jogs to the sideline doesn't make him a bad coach, it just makes him human. (Daboll might still be a bad coach, though.)

SHOWTIME 11-27-2024 01:06 PM

Not bad to have Daniel Jones as a backup QB for the stretch playoff run...

Megatron96 11-27-2024 01:15 PM

If any HC/OC can fix Danny Dimes, it’s going to be KOC.

However, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Danny is probably not ever going to be a quality starting QB. Too many flaws/weaknesses in his game, imo.

But KOC did wonders with Darnold, so who really knows?

PHOG 11-27-2024 01:22 PM

I was wondering who he'd latch on to. Not a bad signing to be a backup I presume.

Megatron96 11-27-2024 01:27 PM

I doubt he’d even be a decent backup right now. Way too inconsistent and unpredictable, two things you can’t really do as a successful backup. This feels kind of like my buddy when he buys old cars and tries to fix them up. Danny might be just a hobby/project.

Bump 11-27-2024 02:13 PM

“Looking pissed off” is a bit of a disingenuous way to describe this.

Like you said, Daboll may be a good coach. I don’t know, but I’d bet the “nurturing coach” comments are directly spawned from that sort of behavior. If he’s got no problem treating his QB that way during a primetime game with millions watching there’s a solid chance it was far worse day-to-day in the facilities.

Where's the douche who fluffed Daboll a couple years ago?

I insisted that Daboll getting the Giants to the playoffs with Jones is no more impressive than Nagy taking the Bears to the playoffs with Trubisky, and that like all Patriot douchetards, he would eventually collapse his own brief success because that's what they all do.

The guy was like, "NUH UH DABOLL DOES THINGS DIFFERENTLY HE WASN'T AROUND BELICHICK LIKE YOU THINK HE WAS HE'S THE NEXT ANDY REID!!!"

BWillie 11-28-2024 12:02 PM

I think Jones is actually a better QB than Sam Darnold. Really hard to suck in the Vikings offense. Whoever pays Darnold in the offseason will be the laughing stock of the league by next year at this time.
