Amazon is a terrible football broadcaster.

That broadcast felt like a preseason game.

What does Amazon have against showing the play again while the teams are resetting. Just felt like so much watching guys stand around while hearing Al Michaels try to fill the silence.

Whoever the other announcer was, he had the energy of a day old piece of toast.

No graphics, and the ones they used sucked.

Sound issues here and there.

Terrible. It was actually a very exciting game, but you’d never know it with this production and personnel.

Is this what the Thursday night games are like?

FloridaMan88 11-29-2024 06:39 PM

Still better than listening to Charles Davis.

Pointer19 11-30-2024 11:57 AM

I also don’t like the AWS-AI-whatever random circles they throw under players pre-snap. Leave that for your super fancy stream, but keep the main broadcast clean. And a gray LOS is lame.

KCUnited 11-30-2024 12:47 PM

The lack of replays was super annoying

Maybe I should've also been aware, but had no idea, I wouldn't be able to watch it on my device or Firestick outside the US...15 minutes before kickoff when it was showing as unavailable on my app

I'm thankful for Methstreams this year!

Also "timeout against hate" might be the dumbest NFL campaign slogan ever

Is that like a 30 second timeout, do people only get 3, do you lose one if you challenge??

DaFace 11-30-2024 01:21 PM

Their feature where you can catch up with a name in progress by watching the highlights is great, to be fair.

KCUnited 11-30-2024 01:31 PM

It was great of them to capture that 5 minute conversation between Patrick and head ref Clay Martin for the internet though LMAO

Sassy Squatch 11-30-2024 01:33 PM

Heard a bunch of complaints about the audio and had none of those issues on NBC. Weird.

Not a fan of herbstreit? He’s one of the good ones

Bwana 11-30-2024 02:25 PM

Yeah the lack of replays is brutal.

Zebedee DuBois 11-30-2024 02:26 PM

I had poor picture quality towards the end of the first half. Not knowing for sure if it was on their end or mine, I did a total power down at half time, walked away and got distracted. I missed the first couple minutes of the second half before I remembered to fire everything back up. Picture quality was fine thereafter.

But I prefer to blame them.

scho63 11-30-2024 02:32 PM

When you prioritize commercials over the game, that's the shit product you get. It was horrible.

chiefzilla1501 11-30-2024 02:44 PM

Amazon is rough but although I hate the idea of all these scattered streaming platforms with nfl rights, they seem more willing to experiment than the old fashioned media is. The xfl despite being a failure brought nfl technology decades into the future. Try out a lot of things and just scrap the stuff that sucks.

DrunkBassGuitar 11-30-2024 06:10 PM

Amazon sucks but Hulu isn't any better, trying to watch college bball and theres unskippable ads that are literally just 3 minutes of traffic noise lol

Killing cable was some real monkey paw shit

displacedinMN 11-30-2024 06:24 PM

not looking forward to the Netflix version

Hammock Parties 11-30-2024 06:35 PM

There was a very bad hum on the broadcast. Like someone left an electrical cable sitting on top of a key audio connection or something.

Pepe Silvia 11-30-2024 06:55 PM

They should just focus the camera on Kaylee Hartung the whole time.

Why Not? 11-30-2024 08:47 PM

Not a huge fan of Amazon as a broadcast company but I love Al Michaels. He’s always been good but now he’s firmly in the “IDGAF, I’ll say what I want” part of his career.

Yeah I picked up on his IDGAF too lol
I could hear the disdain during all the referee conferences and other game stoppages

and I was old many yelling at the sky too here on the couch bitching about the same thingLMAO

KCUnited 12-01-2024 09:40 AM

The only thing that generated any sort of excitement from Michaels was when they were talking about Spag's wifes banana pudding

vonBobo 12-01-2024 10:05 AM

Did anyone watch the post game show where a "chef" delivered a sandwich to Chris Jones but then didn't know if there was any pork in it? And then the broadcast showed a short clip where three black guys were stealing packages out of an Amazon van for Christmas presents? When they got back the white lady was like "I don't know what that was but we may be getting canceled.".
****ing ridiculous.

warpaint* 12-01-2024 01:19 PM

Herbstreit is an all-timer relative to his gameday & college legacy. I get the impression every time I watch him on Amazon that he doesn't care about pro football.

everyone has been wanting ala cart choices since cable in the 80’s. Be careful what you wish for.

ThyKingdomCome15 12-01-2024 03:40 PM

Al Michaels was super bitter for 3.5 quarters.

Pretty much... the general idea was if you just want to watch sports, give me all the sports. And then if you don't watch sports, you don't have to pay the premium prices for adding ESPN to your cable package and so forth.

Except everyone is now segmenting sports, making each ala cart option more expensive for everyone while sports fans have to purchase every ****ing streaming option available.

And while it grinded my gears to purchase a month of Peacock for the playoff game, it's probably a better option than what I had before, paying $90+/month for Dish while they constantly had contract disputes and killed channels for weeks/months at a time.

I'd say these days I'm missing more sports due to the bullshit versus paying more.

That “chef” is one of the most famous chefs in New York. He froze for maybe a split second because Chris jones’ request caught him off guard with a lot of shit going on. There is no need to put that in quotation marks. I thought the whole chef focused segment before and after the game was pretty cool.

The Amazon shit was too much. Might want to mention that one of those guys is Marshawn. Also no quotation marks.

vonBobo 12-01-2024 06:12 PM

I put chef in quotes because I was unsure he was the guy that even made the sandwich... Q: is there any pork in there? A: I don't know. Did he even make the sandwich?
Why the **** is a chef from NY making a sandwich for the sidelines in Kansas City anyway? This isn't even about the chef, it's the shit poor broadcast.

Thunderhead 12-01-2024 07:08 PM

I think Prime is the worse way to watch a game followed closely by ESPN

By the way, I'm first and foremost an Eagles fan but I'm also Chiefs fan so a little warning

Carson Wentz is a disruptive turd. Say a prayer before each game for Mahomes to stay healthy......I do

I'm sure whoever sit down with them would have loved some KC BBQ.

displacedinMN 12-01-2024 07:26 PM

Is amazon in charge of production/crew or is it rented from another network

This is the dumbest gripe I’ve ever heard. David Chang is a world renowned chef. He’s all over cooking shows and Netflix. Amazon chooses a celebrity chef to make a recipe for thanksgiving leftovers so he made his take on a sandwich. And he even added brisket to the sandwich to give it a Kansas City spin. In the pregame show he was feeding everyone from Tony Gonzalez to Andrew whitworth, and he did a food eating contest.

Your gripe was a split second hesitation being caught by surprise by jones’ question. Immediately after he offered to take the pork out so obviously he knew what was in the sandwich. But why does that even matter? Why the hell did Maddien do a turducken? Maybe because it’s entertaining. Just a thought.

They did a rib eating competition with the “chef” before the show. And he incorporated smoked brisket into the sandwich. They paid homage to kc. They get kc bbq all year long. They asked him to riff on thanksgiving leftovers which is way more interesting and timely on Black Friday.

There are a lot of holes in amazons broadcast but I don’t get the gripe with this. I geek out over cooking shows and this was a pretty cool twist.

I believe so. This guy is the Executive producer of NFL on Prime Video. He's a 30 year veteran still working for NBC (Sunday Night Football)

https://press.amazonmgmstudios.com/u...%20each%20week.

Pretty shocking that the Amazon broadcasts are so weird. I read somewhere that they are trying to be different and trying some things, some will stick some won't.

Also, found this pretty interesting Reddit thread with a 10-year NFL broadcast vet doing an AMA

I agree. I welcome it. Their game coverage is patchy right now.. But nfl coverage is stale and has been for decades. You need someone like Amazon to take big risks. A lot will fail, a lot will be great, other stations will copy what’s great and ditch the bad. That’s how innovation works. I’m not a fan of how patchy it is to subscribe to lots of different streaming services. But I welcome throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.

And the team of Al Michaels, herby and hartung is solid too
