What has happened to this fan base?
 

Killing arguably a top 3 NFL coach of all time. Destroying Mahomes every week. Crushing other players and coaches who have been a part of championship teams. I get somewhat being critical at times. There is a difference between constructive criticism (or whatever you’d call it since no one on the Chiefs will ever read this shit), but that’s not what I’m talking about. Many (not a majority but plenty) have turned into spoiled bitch princesses. I swear if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl 17-13, you’re gonna get a bunch of people on here saying:

“This feels like a loss”

Sack up, chumps.

Oh and PS, killing guys like Waylost Morris is not what I’m talking about. That’s different.

Honestly it’s only a very small few who are this way game in and game out. Most get angry during the game, but afterwards they calm down and actually analyze things.

Those people in the GDT (we all know who they are) who will cuss and dig out Mahomes after every incompletion are an embarrassment to the Chiefs Kingdom and the human race. They should all collectively drink antifreeze.

I think it’s okay to be critical of certain aspects of the team (Andy’s coaching in the 3rd and 2/timeout/punting sequence, Patrick and his 2024 deep ball, our half ply blocking from the tackles). Hell, even the Chiefs are disappointed with how the Chiefs are playing right now, but the “I hate watching this team/this team is ruining my weekends” is a bit much. Some of us have forgotten where we came from, hell, some of us have forgotten last year.

Some perspective would be nice though. We are 11-1 coming off B2B SBs. We will never see a team or an era as good as this one again.

And Yankees fans. And Red Wings fans. And Lakers fans.

How is that different than other successful teams' fanbases?

I distinctly remember my friends, who are Pat's fans, complaining like this during both of their multiple championship runs. Was always about the "garbage secondary" or "lack of receivers". Still ended up with them winning in the end.

I’ve said the entire season that nothing matters for this team until January. We can beat anyone and be beaten by anyone. That view hasn’t changed.

It's natural that people want the team to play at a higher level. The games are pretty frustrating to watch. But it's also true the regular season games are not the end of the world. Every year it seems like the team plays at a much higher level in the Playoffs. We'll see if they can do that again this year.

The sample size is small, guys.

But the point is, even if we don’t win it all, we’re insanely fortunate. Enjoy the ride however it ends. But also don’t be beholden to a sample size of a recent 2 above all else.

After KC won 3 of the last 5 Super Bowls...something I never even dreamed of as a long-suffering fan absolutely nothing can shake me. This is more than I ever could have hoped for in my lifetime. Of course, I want us to keep winning and get that three-peat to solidify Pat as the GOAT. But honestly, everything from here on out is just gravy.

We’re the luckiest fan base in the NFL right now, and to think otherwise is completely missing the bigger picture. Let’s enjoy this era while it lasts.

I don't think fans ever get used to that. Human nature to want a low stress experience in the 4th quarter instead of crossing your fingers and hoping to squeak out a close victory in the final minutes.

Some people will always be miserable ****s (this one surprised me after a few SBs... some people really, truly 100% will never be happy)

Some people take valid concerns and extrapolate forever

I think all fans tend to think the weaknesses of their team are a bigger deal than the weaknesses of other teams (see the previous point)

Some people just want the half-billion dollar QB to look like he's been in this offense for several seasons and to make the easier throws that he's missing

Fully agree with this. Before Mahomes KC won a total of 4 playoff games and two were in the same year with Montana.

They made one AFCCG in my lifetime pre Mahomes (the aforementioned Montana year) and since this era started the AFCCG is the floor for this team.

I genuinely started to believe that this franchise would never win a SB in my lifetime. They have far exceeded my wildest expectations and I am gonna enjoy it as doing what they are doing is almost impossible in a salary cap era.

Think of how many other fan bases would give almost anything to have just a fraction of the success this team has since 2018.
