He's been anti-Chiefs the majority of his time as a commentator.

Clearly, he needs a foot in his ass.

FringeNC 12-01-2024 06:04 PM

He's not wrong. Either we get NFL-level play from the LT going forward, or we are in trouble. Until the Raiders game, many were in denial about how the position was just absolutely destroying our offense. With Morris at LT, we aren't even NFL average on offense. With competent play and Hollywood back, we good suddenly become the best in the league. That's how bad Morris is. He's a ****ing game wrecker.

Not entirely related to this thread, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that the Ravens miss the playoffs.

I'd laugh. Hard.

Sure, but he went way over the top...

"their defense is average as hell"

"I'm not betting on a John Harbaugh or Mike Tomlin team to mess it up." But you are going to bet against Mahomes and Reid?

How do you think Mahomes is going to take it? I'd hate to be the Chiefs first round opponent...

1) it’s a moot point. Morris has played his last game.

2) In what categories are they below average offensively?

"He poked the bear"

Guys, just stop. This team has been poked and prodded in a million ways. Some of you still think Mahomes is going to become Superman only because he was ranked 4th in the top-100 NFL players as if that matters.

They don't need more motivation beyond winning a 3rd straight SB. It's insane some of you still think stuff like this is going to change the trajectory of this season. Grow up, Peter Pans.

OMG. The most talented player in history after the fact created a narrative that he was as good as he was only because he was doubted! You’ve cracked the code!

Imagine how many players have been disrespected because they weren’t playing well who used that as fuel and then…failed. I guarantee you that list is 100,000 times longer than the Last Dance monologues.

Really?

How about explosive plays (26th), and red zone (24th)?

Reminder, there's only 32 teams. Not sure if you know that or are just terrible with math.

Those are a couple lil appetizers to get you started.

Right now the worst stat for us is that we are 24th in red zone TD%. For a team that reliably and somewhat by necessity matriculates the ball down the field really well, not scoring in the red zone at an above average rate is a major issue. We fix that and things look a lot better.

Mahomes’ locker room comments (“they asked for it!”) after the Buffalo playoff game made it clear that the Chiefs had a chip on their shoulder from whatever BS was flying around in the media, which included at least one Buffalo player who said the Chiefs would not be able to win Playoff games on the road. I say bring on the bulletin board material if it gives the team more focus.

I’m sure they wanted to win a lot before. I’m sure they wanted to win more after. They barely won that game.

If they had lost, would that have meant that the comments didn’t matter?

The Chiefs are just a really good team with some really high end talent. They are going to be motivated in the playoffs plenty regardless of the opponent.

We've all seen teams with great W/L records, but also struggled to earn most of those Ws, get bounced in the 1st round. Same as it ever was. I hope KC figures out their issues and starts playing better football, but I don't know that they will, so they could get bounced just like any of those other teams did.

We didn't 'win' the last one. We fell back-asswards into a W because their rookie C snapped the ball early and then the refs decided that it wasn't false start, but illegal motion.

Exactly. I don't have a problem with what Rex Ryan said and he's not the only one saying this.

Also, the 2003 Chiefs are a perfect example of this if my memory serves me correctly. We all knew the team was going to be in trouble unless the D improved and it never did. With this team it's the same - they need to improve otherwise they will be in trouble come playoff time. May not be the 1st round but they will lose if they keep playing how they've been

But there's still some time to improve. However the clock is ticking. The Chargers will be ready to go next Sunday and playoffs are about what a month away?

Haha. Thanks for proving my point. Players of lesser talent and ability can have all the motivation in the world but it still doesn’t move the needle. Hence, Rex Ryan isn’t changing the course of our season because he’s motivated Mahomes. If he’s going to play at that level, he’ll do it regardless.

Rex Ryan could shit on us every day for a month and it wouldn't guarantee victory over Buffalo next month.

Still doesn't mean it won't motivate Mahomes and the Chiefs though.

I dunno, the pressure they put on Burrow in the Burrowhead game was unreal... I believe the old saying is motivation shows up in practice/prep, but that was one time I wondered if "wanting it more" actually mattered (and up until that game, I would have said the same stuff you're saying).

Yeah, it's not some magic bullet... those games will still be 50/50 and guys like Mahomes don't solely rely on outside motivation like OP. However, if it was completely pointless, I'd wonder why Stroupe seems to feed him those things?

KC Shox 12-01-2024 08:14 PM

Ummm, we’re near the bottom in pass rushing/sacks. Two offensive tackles that are trash bags. 1/2 of our secondary gets owned all the time. Our WRs are old possession types that can’t separate. Kelce is a step slower and 10lbs heavier. Average running backs with a QB missing throws to open receivers because he’s ’on tilt’ due to the constant pressure. Rex Ryan is more right than he is wrong. Hopefully, the new LT will have a short curve to game speed and we get a few more key folks back by playoffs.
