Steven Nelson (CB) [signed to PS] (2024)
Can't say that Veach won't turn over EVERY stone. LOL.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Veteran starting CB Steven Nelson is expected to visit the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Chiefs?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Chiefs</a> on Monday for a potential reunion and stretch run with a top contender. <br><br>This visit, confirmed by his long-time agent Josh Arnold, could land Nelson back with the team he started his career with. <a href="https://t.co/6FP38PEvYT">pic.twitter.com/6FP38PEvYT</a></p>— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1865581441389559999?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 8, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
CB Steven Nelson (LOL) visiting Chiefs

He does blow goats, so
|
He started last year for Houston and recorded a career-high 4 INTs, so I guess not far removed from being capable of that... I thought he retired?
|
We’ve reached the bottom of the barrel.
|
The guy has managed to have a long career in the league. If he can help, I'm all for it.
|
He had a every good season last year. He was PFF's 39th ranked CB for example. Had 6 PBUs to go with 4 INTs. Many will scoff at this, but he's better than Nazeeh, and might allow them to move McDuffie back inside while using Conner more like a true S.
|
Here's why I think they're doing this:
The slot issue. We can't put McDuffie back in there right now because it would leave us with J. Williams and Nazeeh on the outsides. Maybe with Nelson you can trust him on the outside and get Trent back in there when you need it. |

Didn't he call Kansas City racist?
|
Was Rashad Fenton busy?
...I'm not even sure if I'm kidding. |

Nelson started for a division winner last season. |
This is not surprising considering Dave Merritt wanted to kill Nazeeh Johnson last Friday
|
Decent, experienced corner who was on a playoff team last season. He got four ints which was impressive. A move like this means guys like Johnson and Connor may not be on the field so much and it may allow Trent to play slot a lot more. I like the move tbh. Williams will be cb2 and Nelson can bring that vet knowledge on the other side when needed.
|
|
This guy is dead to me.
|
It's too late in the year to ask Nelson to learn the slot position in this defense, which McDuffie himself said is far more complex than the outside CB spot. So it's definitely a move to allow McDuffie to kick inside and that would be massive in all aspects of the game.
|
|
Anything to distract from Bieniemy, I guess
|
Dear god no!
|
So he hasn't had a job all season?? Did he go to camp with anyone?? I'm very skeptical he will be any help.. Prove me wrong Steven Nelson..

Williams and Nelson on the outside and Trent in the slot is much more solid than Johnson, Connor and Trent imo. Nelson is a solid vet that should at least ne able to hold up on his side. That's better than what Johnson was giving us. He was getting picked on relentlessly. Hopefully this can suffice until the playoffs and Watson comes back. |
Sweaty Shane and Co. are rubbing pencils together trying to get a story out
|
Might as well bring Orlando Scandsuck, William BURNTee, Phillip Shit Stain Gaines, and Mike Hughes in for visits as well.
|
Defensive holding 5 yard penalty first down
|
Xavien Howard over this piece of shit.

He's as good as the players around him. |

I hope this guy dies.
Unless the Chiefs sign him. Then I hope he doesn't die. |

Damn were cooked
|
I mean… that all sounds like a perfect scheme fit for this stretch. Outside press corner.

This is next level Veach voodoo. This is gonna ****ing work.
|
Remember just one more stop a game, or making 7s turn into 3s makes a huge difference for this team.
I like the move. |
Keep in mind that Steven Nelson played under Bob Sutton and hated doing so. That should buy him a lot of goodwill here.

What’s Marcus Cooper up to these days?
Sean Smith? Jamell Fleming? |

All we need is just competent play from Williams and Nelson on the outside so Trent can get back to being a superstar slot cb. If Watson comes back then it would be perfect.
Remember Johnson is coming off injury and had never been a starter before. And Connor is a safety having to play slot which wasn't what he did in college. These two things have hurt the secondary. |
Why not?

He’s better than nazi Johnson

The fact they decided not to sign Howard means nothing. |
Bring him home.
But if they do, it's probably not the best sign that Jaylen Watson will be back this year. |

No thanks. |
First Hunt, now Nelson. This season turning into a 2018 reunion tour. They going to bring in DeAnthony Thomas in next to replace Hardman?

He was the embodiment of Bob Sutton’s terrible defenses in KC. He never played for Spags and has no previous experience in his defense. |

Trust in Spags

I like this signing. I care nothing about the past. I'm just looking at the next ten weeks or so, and I think he can be a good addition. |
Dude insulted the team and fans but I couldn’t give a flying mouse turd if he can help us win.
Kiss my ass Nelson, now suit up! |
Sign him, sign everyone.
|
Edit: Mults exposing themselves… :hmmm:
|
He doesn't even know the defense. Sutton was his coordinator. Never had Spags

That said, kudos to Brett V for turning over every stone. Covering all 3 threads for CP readers. You’re welcome. :) |
Anyone know what college Steven Nelson went to? Must have been a good program.
|
I'm to be told that Steven Nelson came from the same school as Chiefs hero and Super Bowl champion Matt Moore? And same as Sabby Piscatelli too? And non chiefs such as Chad Ochocinco Johnson?
I'll be damned. |
Holy smokes. Not much out there
|
I'd rather bring in Patrick Peterson out of retirement
