**** OFFICIAL Patrick Mahomes Injury Updates Thread ****

Post updates in here.

Hammock Parties 12-15-2024 03:13 PM

Chiefs radio said he could have gone back in the game. He wanted to.

He's gonna be fine.

Spott 12-15-2024 03:15 PM

HBF.

KC_Connection 12-15-2024 03:15 PM

The only thing worth talking about coming out of that game. I don't want to see him next Saturday if he's hobbling around. We need him ready in January.

smithandrew051 12-15-2024 03:16 PM

Let’s win next week and shut these starters down.

Go into the playoffs healthy and rested.

If the Lions beat the Bills all they need to do is win next Saturday and the 1 seed is locked up.

He could sit for almost a month theoretically

carcosa 12-15-2024 03:18 PM

Hbf. Clinch the one seed asap so he can get plenty of rest imho

If there's anyone I trust to handle that long of a layover, it's Patrick. He'd be eating tape the whole time.

He wanted to go back into the Broncos game when his kneecap popped out. Unless Patrick is literally on his death-bed, he's gonna want back in the game. Sometimes you have to protect him from himself.

I'd rather play Wentz Saturday and see if they can lock it up anyway. Him being able to run at full speed when necessary is essential to us having success in January.

Need the Steelers to lose to Philly today as well.

Monticore 12-15-2024 03:23 PM

Our game vs Pitt might be pretty important.

SHOWTIME 12-15-2024 03:25 PM

He was on the sidelines after the injury and didn't need to go back for x-rays or anything, so that's a positive sign

None of these games are truly important. Mahomes' health is worth more than all of them combined.

btw why is the NFL having that game at the same time as Bills/Lions? Absurd scheduling.

They moved the usual week 1 doubleheader for both networks to this week. Both CBS and FOX have doubleheaders and they were trying to load up the schedule I imagine.

Andy needs to work the malleable clay of Wentz into a valuable commodity

ChiTown 12-15-2024 03:43 PM

Mahomes got needlessly beat up in the 2nd half. Cleveland moved the ball once on a broken defensive play. We should have been running the ball down their throats the entire 2nd half. ****ing awful awareness

Good news.
I imagine he could have went back in if we needed him.

Now the question becomes is he ready for Saturday? Or is it safer to let Wentz play?

Andy thought he was the home team when he looked at the scoreboard.

That's why so many passes in a row were called when up 2 scores, on a trash field, in poor weather, with your qb getting hit every dropback, when you're on the first of 3 games in a 10 day stretch.

Guys. Come on.

No coach is so stupid that he just exposes his star qb to punishment for no reason whatsoever.

Dayze 12-15-2024 03:49 PM

What play did this happen on? My Pos tv ,shot shit and I had to restart it and missed a solid 10 minutes and whatever play that caused the injury

4th down play up two scores, just under 4 minutes left. Mahomes steps up and is broken in half, bent backwards and landed on by multiple Browns.

Needed both ankles taped afterward.

Red Dawg 12-15-2024 03:53 PM

It's stupid. That was old Andy getting pass happy like an idiot.

Yep. When a casual fan like me is saying (prior to the injury) to get him out then you have to wonder what a Hall of Fame Coach like Andy was thinking.

Up 14 in the second half we really should have pulled Mahomes with the idea that you can send him back in IF Cleveland had scored. Avoidable and regrettable.

Dude he has a sprained ankle. Absolutely not a big deal.

What is with Chiefsplanet making EVERYTHING worse than it is this year?

We're 13-1 and just won by 14 points against a team that beat the Steelers and almost beat Denver.

I’m not sure playing your gimpy QB on two short weeks when you have a 13-1 record is necessary. Not when your Head Coach and OC are trying to injure him.

It's not so much about pulling him. It's the playcalling. You are up 21-0. Run the ball down their throats and use quick hitters along the LOS with Worthy/Hopkins. Anything that requires a stable pocket is ****ing moronic at that point. USE THE CLOCK. It's your friend. There is no way that Andy is happy about how that game was called offensively. He and Nagy were borderline re-runned the majority of the second half.

Nobody is saying that he can't play or win games with this kind of injury. We just want him at 100% for when the games actually start mattering and that isn't next Saturday.

What are the odds the offense improves with a hobbled Mahomes? A focus on getting back to the basics: quick passes, running the ball, screens, etc.

You’re not allowed to want that because the biggest cowards on this board live in an alternate reality and don’t permit independent thinking.

Chiefs believe they dodged a bullet on Patrick Mahomes, for now

Quote:

The Chiefs are optimistic about quarterback Patrick Mahomes. For now.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Chiefs currently believed they dodged a bullet with Mahomes’s high-ankle sprain. However, the team is concerned about the extent of the swelling on Monday morning.

Mahomes could have continued playing today, we’re told, if the game had been tight. But the X-rays were negative, and the Chiefs hope the ankle won’t swell like a balloon tomorrow morning.

He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter. He was replaced by Carson Wentz.

The Chiefs face the Texans on Saturday, and the Steelers the following Monday.

This is why you get a back-up QB like Wentz.

I have no doubt the Chiefs could beat Houston at home with Wentz.

And no this isn’t a nonsensical Mahomes vs Wentz debate… it’s about being smart to ensure Mahomes is as healthy as possible for the playoffs.

The Chiefs didn’t have that luxury two years ago with Mahomes’ injury occurring in the playoffs… they do now.

Yes. Rest him and his bum ankle and give him a week to rest and un**** his head before the Christmas game at Pittsburgh.

If it's a mild sprain he'll be fine for Saturday. Dude has had two ankle sprains before already (both superbowl winning seasons btw) and never missed a game so those calling for him to miss Saturday might be disappointed. Especially if we have a chance to seal home field

I'm not really sure a week is going to un**** his head. The only thing that's going to un**** his head is a re-tooling of the Offense whereby he doesn't have to constantly assume that the pocket will collapse in 1.5 to 2 secs. He's certainly not playing well this year, but the play-calling and OL haven't helped the cause.
