Can’t believe how stupid the 4th down playcall was

4th and 3 from the 39, 8 mins left. Offense struggling all day, defense dominating Jameis with 5 sacks and 3 INT’s.

The Browns did not get in the redzone one time

Ability to pin the Browns deep in their own territory with a 14 pt lead and 7 ish mins left and they go for it.

Unbelievably stupid. Unreal

Rainbarrel 12-15-2024 03:29 PM

Did Trentus McDuffiest get first!!!!

Molitoth 12-15-2024 03:29 PM

Today was a masterclass at bad offensive coaching.

I liked the part where Mahomes is broken in half at the end.

Andy reads CP. He's drinking the Kool aid.

He's beginning to believe. Lmmfgdao.

It doesn't matter how many hits he takes, if he dies, he dies.

Gary Cooper 12-15-2024 03:30 PM

Meh.

I don't like punting from the other team's 39. It's No man's land. You either go for it or kick a long FG.

Ron Swanson 12-15-2024 03:31 PM

Maybe run it on 3rd down if you know you're going for it.

Pretty sure Butker couldn't even attempt it from that length today (begs the question why they didn't let him rest another week, but that's a different subject).

Otherwise I agree with you and normally you'd just kick a FG there.. It's worth the try.

Oh Snap 12-15-2024 03:35 PM

Whoever was in charge of the second half play calling definitely needs an ass chewing. Couldn't have been worse and more unimaginative than it was.

What's that?

Wisconsin_Chief 12-15-2024 03:38 PM

This was far and away the worst offensive performance of the Reid/Mahomes era. They were absolutely pathetic in every way imaginable.

Forcing 6 turnovers and scoring only 21 total points is not something I think we’ll ever see from a team again in our lifetimes. We literally had 6 extra drives and still did nothing.

Anyone who isn’t worried at this point just isn’t very smart. It’s not the same as last year. The weapons are there and everyone is basically healthy. Offense just sucks ass, plain and simple.

That game against the Titans in 2021 was worse. We lost 27-3.

This was ugly in its own way of course.

At least we had no turnovers in this game, though some of Pat's throws came close to that.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Not the same as last year.

Forgot about that one. At least they were a good team, though. The Browns were leaving guys wide open and Mahomes was missing them by 5-10 yards.

This was abysmal beyond words.

Hey, I’m not even saying they can’t turn it around. In fact, I still pretty much expect them to. I’m not a moron, I’ve seen the story play out the last few years like everyone else.

However, the play you’re seeing from Mahomes should concern you. He has never, ever looked this terrible for this long of a stretch. Last year, it was more about the pieces around him. This year, it’s him. That’s a very different situation.

I’m sure he’s mentally and physically exhausted, so maybe he’s just coasting because he knows he can, and I couldn’t blame him if that’s the case. Just hope he can put on his cape quickly come playoff time.

Hammock Parties 12-15-2024 04:09 PM

Nothing wrong with the playcall. Mahomes should not have run into fat guys.

Mecca 12-15-2024 04:09 PM

You can rip on the play calling... however play calling doesn't change that Mahomes is leaving yards and points all over the field week in and week out.

We definitely aren’t “healthy” without Brown and Rice

But Mahomes is playing worse this year than last year. I think 2023 Mahomes in this situation would turn this game into a rout and he’d probably have like 30 passing touchdowns by now

No. We are forgetting how angry we were after limping past the Patriots last year.

In 2023 we looked equally unimpressive in the second half.

FloridaMan88 12-15-2024 04:22 PM

The bigger shitshow was the end of the first half.

Discuss Thrower 12-15-2024 04:24 PM

It was a terrible play call.

It should have been a short drop and fire to someone right off the snap where it's either an offensive catch on a sideline or in the dirt.

To be really honest Mahomes should have punted it.

Any play in the 2nd half that required a clean pocket was a shitty call. You are up 14-21 points, run the ****ing ball and throw quick hitters. The end. Do that in the 2nd half, and Mahomes walks off the field without a limp.

DRM08 12-15-2024 04:35 PM

Wish Andy ran the ball on 3rd down in that situation. Punt or run it again on 4th down.

Guess I'm not sure what there is to be concerned about then?

And that's not to sound dense... I get what you're saying. Mahomes is obviously the key to it all and he needs to get his head on straight, or else it doesn't matter who your receivers are or anything else.

But, I do think we've actually seen the potential for this offense more often this year than we did for long stretches last season. At one point last season, I think in mid-late December I was still saying "remember that one time they were down 14-0 to the Raiders and then the offense looked amazing after that? What if they just do that again...." like 8 ****ing weeks later. LMAO

If it wasn't for the 4th quarter drives, crunch time, etc; I might be more concerned (well, as concerned as I could be about not 3peating, which is barely even reality right now), but I think we'll see DHop on the field for more than 50% of snaps, and then with Brown and Worthy's flashes, etc; they'll get the offense reeled in and Mahomes will once again lock in and leave us wondering why the hell this ever happens.

We didn’t limp in that game, guys deflected catchable balls for interceptions and New England scored on two short fields. We knew as long as we dumped Toney and Moore we would improve, and we did (though it took 2 weeks). That was a more commanding win than this game and we actually lost the turnover battle that day

Everyone is healthy? WTF?

DHop and JuJu are possession receivers at this point in their careers, not game changers at their position. Worthy is a rookie.

History says that reason most back to back SB teams lost the 3peat was injuries. Losing our #1 receiver (Brown) for 90% of the year and losing Rice(WR#2) for 80% of the year. Losing Pacheco for 60% of the year. hurt our chances for a 3 peat.

This is posted with the benefit of hindsight. People are completely forgetting how this place was in December of last year to the point I’m about to get banned for bumping threads.

It was looking bad, no one can deny that. They really only had the Cincy game to get right but all the players after the SB win said it was the cincy game that got them back on track.

And even then, there were folks here upset because had to rely on 6 field goals for the comeback and only beat a Burrowless Cinci by one score.

The Super Bowl win has just erased how grim this place was in December.

Yeah, a lot of "fraud defense" comments after the Packers loss, and then of course the wheels falling off Christmas Day... in between, I think the Patriots win was almost a passive aggressive "well, they didn't **** it up," and I'm sure the mood was less than stellar at halftime.

Yeah, we can NOW say we had an elite defense last season, but that wasn't largely the belief at this point last year... and I remember because I was surprised how little people were talking about them after what they did to the Eagles (much less calling them frauds soon after).
