I don't. Just means all the salaries go up. If kelce retires, suddenly that 17 mil doesn't buy as much.

FloridaMan88 02-19-2025 12:45 PM

After the Chiefs restructure Mahomes and Thuney’s contracts, they will have significant salary cap space.

No limitations/excuses to finally fixing LT.

Except for who that might be. It’s great that we will have cap space, but who is actually available?

redfan 02-19-2025 01:00 PM

Nice increase, now let's get after it with some moderately priced veteran FAs.

Rainbarrel 02-19-2025 01:01 PM

Free agency in three weeks 3/12 late afternoon. Who has money that has to over spend. To get any players to come to their misery. They set the market

Yep, I think that's about 6-10m more than OTC anticipated. Plus we get 3.1m-ish in rollover. OTC has our cap estimate right now at 282.6m

That means we can trade McDuffie for a top-10 pick to get our LT and then go out and sign a couple of CBs to make up for it. Profit. :P

Patriots, Raiders, and Cardinals top this list in terms of Cap vs roster spots to fill. The Chargers and Commanders too but they have more roster spots to fill.

Cap isn't the issue, it's cash and the Hunts have always been owners more on a budget than some others.

We're going all in for the 3 out of 4peat

I think that's the biggest problem. Quality LT's are very rare. Most of them stay with their current team. Similar to QB's.

O.city 02-19-2025 03:02 PM

Go ahead and keep some of the guys you have in house.

Uh, we're not exactly the Bengals over here with our salary cap. They'll spend money.

We're not the Eagles either, the Bengals actually have more money in void years than the Chiefs do but it's not much like 8 mill.

But they come in at the bottom of the league in that kind of spending.

tredadda 02-19-2025 04:34 PM

I could be wrong on this, but not sure just how much a rise in cap will genuinely impact much. Sure it’s more money, but players due for a new contract or are a FA will just ask for more and eat up all of that additional cap.

Yeah, the top guys will, but you don't have to sign those top guys to have a successful off-season.

In58men 02-19-2025 07:09 PM

Pay Najee Harris.

Void years are bad and we should avoid doing it unless that player is Mahomes

Washed up? How about you watch football first before commenting on football, idiot.

1,000 yard rusher since his rookie year seems pretty good to me.

Exactly. We need a running back that makes explosive plays, has speed, can be involved in the passing game.

Andy is never going to give Harris the carries he needs to get 1000 yards in a season. And I’ve said I’d never give a RB a second contract and I don’t care who he is. Give be a young kid.

Gambling revenue included to raise the SC per CBA.

Teams that went past the cap are gonna be able ta break even, ridin the yearly increase.

KC's gotta blow the cap ta stay competitive.

Would’ve gave Barkley, dobbins, Jacobs, Jones, Montgomery, etc. second contracts and have been just fine

Hoover 02-19-2025 09:29 PM

Cool. But it’s how they do over the life of the contract not just what they do I year one.

I’m sure the OL is Veach’s top priority. Not worried what he did in Pittsburgh, we’re not the Steelers.

dtrain 02-20-2025 04:33 PM

I saw somewhere last night the Chris Jones restructured.

I was half out of it guess it could of said he could be a possible restructure :hmmm:

Couch-Potato 02-20-2025 05:40 PM

So we have plenty of cap room to keep our guys, especially if we restructure 1 or 2 current contracts.

Most of those guys had more than 4.0 measly career YPC

Dobbins was hardly a second contract. He was a flaming pile of AIDS aboard of scrap heap. I don't know what the Chargers gave him, but that's what he was worth when they signed him.
