Just how good is Stanley? When he went down with a 2-year ankle injury, fat OBJ stepped in and looked like a world beater.

Neither is Rickey, but all indications is that Baltimore was going to do everything possible to keep Stanley.

By all reports, Baltimore is looking at $21-23M a season to keep Stanley.

New England is DEFINITELY going higher than that, they have more money than they can reasonably spend.

If Veach spends $25M+ a season on Stanley, this team is gonna have some holes - unless Clark is willing to cut a $50M check to convert signing bonuses for Mahomes, CJ and Kelce.

And even after all that, paying a draft class - there are still gonna be some question marks.

If we don't do whatever it takes to fix LT, the rest doesn't matter. Cut checks, leave holes elsewhere, whatever. Protect Mahomes who turns 30 this year. We have another decade of greatness ahead if we do that.

2022: 11 starts
2023: 13 starts
2024: 17 starts

If they're signing this dude, I would guess they will reset the market pretty hard to get him to leave Baltimore, but I am fine with that if that's what it takes. My bet is they are 1000% in with the full court press already. I'll say this again, there is absolutely no chance they would trade a guy like Thuney without having a plan already in place, and it would have to be a pretty damn big one to move on from a Hall of Famer. Could still just end up being Cam Robinson if it falls through, but I'm feeling pretty good about them pulling this off if it's leaking already.

Other than last yr you can bank on him missing games, sometimes many of them. I don’t want him for that reason. But options being what they are I can u/s it if they go that way.

I mean, give it a go, but I'm hoping one of our younger guys can take over.

We're also very likely to be outbid by just about everyone, which is fine.

Stanley is a slam-dunk MONSTER upgrade at LT... if he's healthy.

Can he stay healthy?

Most of his missed time all stems from the same ankle injury and he has two full, almost completely healthy seasons since that seems to have been put to bed.

It’s the move you do if your main goal is to remove all doubt in Mahomes’ mind that he’s protected well.

However, the health is a big concern and will always be.

It’s such a Veach move.

Best FA LT since Trent Williams, and Veach decides he isn’t going to let that happen again… can definitely see it.

The Chiefs can handle ankle injuries no problem. Just put Julie Frymyer on the case.

Depends where Veach really stands on this. If he, Reid and Hunt are all on board with a full court press, they'll get him if they really want him.

Stanley needed a huge year to have any shot at a big contract, and he had it. Now Baltimore is in a tough spot but it’s not like they aren’t trying to bring him back.

If Kingsley is able to give you 2/3rds of what Thuney was able to at LG then that would be a massive upgrade.

There’s some dice rolling involved but it’s the ONE chance the Chiefs have to get elite left tackle production in 2025-26.

So I understand that gamble given that they can fill out the rest of the roster in this draft class given where the best positions groups are.
