Unfortunately for us, Rickey says he won't be available.

Nate Taylor isn't exactly a great source.
|
Just how good is Stanley? When he went down with a 2-year ankle injury, fat OBJ stepped in and looked like a world beater.

This isn't exactly news. |

Upside if it's one of them Bolton and Reid may both be back. |

Question is if he can stay healthy, need a strong backup option and we don’t have Thuney any longer as a viable backup. |
This smacks of the Trent Williams pursuit. Lot of pressure on Veach to land the plane.

Ya, I'd rather go another way. All I can see is this:

One full healthy season in nine years.

By all reports, Baltimore is looking at $21-23M a season to keep Stanley. New England is DEFINITELY going higher than that, they have more money than they can reasonably spend. If Veach spends $25M+ a season on Stanley, this team is gonna have some holes - unless Clark is willing to cut a $50M check to convert signing bonuses for Mahomes, CJ and Kelce. And even after all that, paying a draft class - there are still gonna be some question marks. |

This patently false. He is sourced. |

Ronnie Stanley starts over the last 3 years:
2022: 11 starts 2023: 13 starts 2024: 17 starts Plus all the playoff games. |

Dude gave up a TON of pressure last year, didn't result in many hits or sacks because, well, Lamar. As always, I'll trust their evals regardless of whether they go 1st tier or 3rd tier. I just have a feeling 15 is still gonna be running around regardless of what they do. |
Nate’s always wrong. This almost guarantees us a run at Cam Robinson now.
|
If they're signing this dude, I would guess they will reset the market pretty hard to get him to leave Baltimore, but I am fine with that if that's what it takes. My bet is they are 1000% in with the full court press already. I'll say this again, there is absolutely no chance they would trade a guy like Thuney without having a plan already in place, and it would have to be a pretty damn big one to move on from a Hall of Famer. Could still just end up being Cam Robinson if it falls through, but I'm feeling pretty good about them pulling this off if it's leaking already.
|
Other than last yr you can bank on him missing games, sometimes many of them. I don’t want him for that reason. But options being what they are I can u/s it if they go that way.
|
I mean, give it a go, but I'm hoping one of our younger guys can take over.
We're also very likely to be outbid by just about everyone, which is fine. |

Paying Ronnie Stanley??

Stanley is a slam-dunk MONSTER upgrade at LT... if he's healthy.
Can he stay healthy? Most of his missed time all stems from the same ankle injury and he has two full, almost completely healthy seasons since that seems to have been put to bed. |
It’s the move you do if your main goal is to remove all doubt in Mahomes’ mind that he’s protected well.
However, the health is a big concern and will always be. |
It’s such a Veach move.
Best FA LT since Trent Williams, and Veach decides he isn’t going to let that happen again… can definitely see it. |

Veach is gonna overspend for LT and we're fine with it.

The one position that being a weakness seems to actually hurt Mahomes play on a somewhat regular basis. You pay up to fix that. |

My question with Stanley is why are the Ravens ok with a) letting him walk period and b) going to a direct rival in the AFC….

Stanley needed a huge year to have any shot at a big contract, and he had it. Now Baltimore is in a tough spot but it’s not like they aren’t trying to bring him back. |
Quote:
Just think you’re going to have to go to the moon to get him to leave Baltimore. |
Quote:
What is a certainty is he’d be the best pass blocker of the Mahomes era at the position. I get why you’d roll the dice after what last year looked like. |
He's probably not leaving Baltimore. But maybe the Chiefs force the Ravens to pay a lot more than they wanted to keep him.
|
Quote:
It's just not very fun. So long as he's ready for the playoffs, I see no issues. |

Some other team with much deeper pockets will outbid us by a mile, be it Baltimore, NE, or whoever |
LT: Stanley
LG: Kingsley C: Creed RG: Trey RT: Jawaan If Kingsley is able to give you 2/3rds of what Thuney was able to at LG then that would be a massive upgrade. |

|
Quote:
So I understand that gamble given that they can fill out the rest of the roster in this draft class given where the best positions groups are. |
Do the Ravens have a LT of the future ready to step up? If not, why would they let him go?
|
What is Baltimore's plan if he doesn't re-sign?
They're drafting at #27. Do they trade up for a LT instead of bringing him back? |

Not bad |
Nate Taylor's hit rate is worse than mine and his excuse making is getting less and less inspired.
Taylor doesn't know shit. Maybe they'll sign Stanley but he hasn't provided any insight here - others have made the same suggestion for weeks and still others said the Thuney trade all but ensures a veteran LT will be acquired. Taylor is a hack when it comes to actual speculation. |

Veach would have had to hit a couple more times, but it seems he always wanted to stay in SF. Going to go all in for Stanley or trade for Cross, I’d think |
Where the hell has all this Cross stuff come from? Seattle releasing Lockett and Metcalf wanting traded doesn't mean they're willing to tear it down to the studs on offense

Don't mind the man behind the curtain!

He's all they have long-term. Even a complete tear down and rebuild retains cross |

with Kingsley penciled in at lg...maybe not, but it makes you assume a veteran LT is coming in

Make it fkn happen Clark Vetch

I feel bad that I dislike Nate Taylor. It seems like he's a nice guy and loves the Chiefs but whenever he's on the radio he is like yelling and he just annoys the shit outta me.

Is there a sure fire LT in this draft? |
The money saves by trading Thuney is going to Bolton
|
Didn't Nate Taylor say some nonsense last free agency too? Pretty sure there was a receiver out there who for sure was coming to KC
|
Are we 100% sure they arent planning a huge trade up in the 1st round for a left tackle?
|
I wouldn’t believe Nate Taylor if he said he was eating Popeye’s for dinner

Will Campbell, Kelvin Banks Jr., Armand Membou, Josh Simmons...I mean I dont know take your pick. How many of them fall to around 15 or later? Does Veach think there is a day 1 starter in that group? Yeah probably. I dont think outside the realm of possibility Veach and co fell in love with one of them. |
