Pocket Watches! Did You Ever Carry One?
 

I've worn a pocket watch at different times in life and I've always liked them. Don't find golf pants with a watch pocket these days although some years ago Dockers did. Kinda golf pants. Anyway, if I were to wear a pocket watch today I would want it to look like this one that I designed along with a little help from ChatGPT.

I had a phase from 15-17 where I carried one but outside of that... no. Especially once I had a cellphone in my pocket that could call people AND tell time.

This is high tech though. Lot's of people have Smart Watches and this would do all the functions that a Smart Watch would and have a second screen you could facetime with and you could change the face to digital with the push of a button. Put a camera in it.

I was going to have the cover drawn with the Chiefs Arrowhead logo along with seven rubies and four diamonds but I ran out of free images.

Those are pretty cool. That may blow my delusion of selling my patented concept to Apple or some other Smart Watch company and making a bundle. :)

Thanks, I am curious if there would be an issue with the electronics combined with a precious metal. Probably have to have the actually "guts" in plastic that would snap into the case.:hmmm:

I carried one like this about 30yrs ago

Prior to smart phones, I got tired of wrist watches. So I took the smallest child's watch I could find, took the band off, and attached it to my Keychain ring.

Which ended up in my front pocket.

So I guess I carried a pocket watch for 15 years or so.

20-25 years ago my watch needed work and I decided to just quit wearing a watch. I've never regretted that decision.

By some of these reply's it's pretty obvious that Philfree has a certain Savoir-faire that many here don't.:) Years ago I had a ball mark repair tool that had a clock on it. Had a Chiefs logo ball marker as well. It was pretty cool.

Aprox 25 years ago My grandson bought me a pocket watch with a fast pitch softball scene engraved on the cover, as I had played that great game in my youth. It no longer keeps time but it's hanging on my 2001 chevy short beds rear view mirror.
I once had a elderly client whose father's pocket watch was stolen during a house breakin. As he explained to me his dad got it when he retired from the RR, he literally sobbed for 10 minutes . Nothing I could do. Man that was sad.

I started carrying one when I was (briefly) a member of St. Benedict's Abbey in Atchison (my wrist watch kept getting caught on my habit sleeve). I carried on an and off for years until I got a cell phone.
