Buffalo weeps LMAO

Now they're so delusional they actually think the Bengals are going to trade them Hendrickson!

TambaBerry 03-09-2025 10:00 AM

And this is why bad franchises stay bad

Deberg_1990 03-09-2025 10:00 AM

And he will never win a thing in Cleveland. But good for him, the money will help heal that.

Urc Burry 03-09-2025 10:01 AM

Woof. You always try to keep hall of famers. But I’m not sure how you justify giving this contract out given the state of their roster

Who cares? This keeps him off of a contender.

smithandrew051 03-09-2025 10:03 AM

As great as he is, the Browns would not pick him again in a redraft.

PHOG 03-09-2025 10:06 AM

Because Browns

cabletech94 03-09-2025 10:11 AM

good for him, he's not a chief, so **** him!!

/did i do that right?

stumppy 03-09-2025 10:15 AM

Moving to a winning team was a bargaining tool.ROFL

Deberg_1990 03-09-2025 10:16 AM

Jamar Chase will soon become the highest paid non QB in NFL…..on so on and so forth….

What a time to be alive for NFL players.

Rainbarrel 03-09-2025 10:33 AM

Tell people what they want to hear & they'll spend 10 months making excuses on why it has worked yet

ForeverIowan 03-09-2025 10:34 AM

Best possible outcome. Keep him off another contender.

RaidersOftheCellar 03-09-2025 10:37 AM

QB money for an edge rusher. LMAO

chiefzilla1501 03-09-2025 10:40 AM

What in the hell are the browns doing?

They’re not gonna win a championship with all this dead money from Watson. They could have gotten a haul for Garrett. Tear the team down and get your team ready for 3 years from now.

DRM08 03-09-2025 10:47 AM

At least the Philly rumors flopped.

George Liquor 03-09-2025 10:51 AM

This should get them over the edge and into contention.

I'm not sure there's any coach or front office that wants to risk their livelihoods on a 3 year rebuild anymore. Fans and media are so short-sighted now that it's going to take a very stable owner/front office to risk something like that.

FloridaMan88 03-09-2025 11:22 AM

Buffalo fans were drooling over Garrett and Hollywood… now both off the market.

YontsRBake 03-09-2025 11:24 AM

This is not good for us. We have to re-sign Furious George in a year and the ceiling rising at the top of the position will definitely bring up the price in the middle.

Every team constantly has to re-sign players. If it hurts us at all it hurts every other team and therefore doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is an all-pro great player is now married to a hopeless franchise rather than being an actual threat on a contender.

DaFace 03-09-2025 11:36 AM

The Browns have an argument for being one of the worst franchises in pro sports.

Bwana 03-09-2025 11:40 AM

The Browns LMAO

BWillie 03-09-2025 11:42 AM

Myles Garrett.

They’re the worst in history imo

Red Dawg 03-09-2025 12:00 PM

Damn. All that money to stay on a total loser.

scho63 03-09-2025 12:01 PM

Between Watson and Garrett they have a boatload of the cap.

A dead franchise

Red Dawg 03-09-2025 12:06 PM

He made a choice. Money is more important that winning. He will be a loser his entire career.

What an absolute boat anchor the Watson contact is.

This is the only response, so glad he is staying!

jjchieffan 03-09-2025 12:21 PM

The money that the elite players are getting is absolutely stupid. Anyone wanting that kind of money can't give a crap about winning or their team. It just makes me sick. If he was getting half that much, he would still be making more money than he could ever spend and the other $20M per year could go towards making the team competitive. What happened to him wanting to be on a more competitive team? This ridiculous contract only helped to keep his team to continue to struggle to be competitive. SMH.

The price to extend George just went up

Did it? Garrett is on a different planet than George.

Also, the Browns are not a sane organization. I hope players and their agents understand that.

A rising tide lifts all boats- he won’t get these the deal that Garrett got but this means the even mid-level edge players should get paid more - similar to how the WR market was reset two years ago and now receivers like Gabe Davis can negotiate huge contracts (he got more AAV than Saquon Barkley I believe)

Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan 03-09-2025 12:33 PM

So much for all those Bills and Eagles fans who swore that Garrett was as good as theirs.

Yeah, have fun with that.

TheGuardian 03-09-2025 12:37 PM

This is the kind of shit players regret later when they retire and never played in a single meaningful game.

Mecca 03-09-2025 12:58 PM

He made the decision every other player in the same spot would have made, he got QB money.

BossChief 03-09-2025 01:01 PM

40m per year. Wow.

notorious 03-09-2025 01:12 PM

Holy shit that's a lot of cap space....

$40 million a year. If only I could be half the loser he is

chiefforlife 03-09-2025 01:17 PM

Cleveland is so far away from competing, they really should have traded him.

Yes he is the best DE in the league but that hasnt helped them win shit!

A team that thinks he is the only missing piece would have given up the farm for him.

Cleveland is the dumbest franchise, over and over. They should have kept Dorsey and let him make these decisions.

Dunerdr 03-09-2025 01:30 PM

Stanley takes less than market to stay home, Garrett gets the farm and futures. The difference between good and bad franchises.

Yes but there comes a point where with someone like him where he's not gonna increase his "happiness" due to money, and as a player there's so many out there that just wished they could have played for a championship.

It took Reek like 1 season before he realized he ****ed up.

He got paid, good for him. He will never play in a super bowl or most likely in any meaningful games ever. But this did keep him off of the Bills so it's fine.

Duffman 03-09-2025 01:42 PM

I'll bet they sign Cousins when he gets cut and draft Hunter. That corner of their's, Ward is like 1 good hit away from having his brains scrambled. He should retire.

Duffman 03-09-2025 01:44 PM

This should increase what Cincy has to pay Chase too. He's gonna want like 45 or so. If THATS the case you think Mike Brown's cheap ass would trade him and resign Higgins to a 30 per deal possibly.

Red Dawg 03-09-2025 03:18 PM

Stupid move. Paying him that high price does nothing but make some fans happy. They will win jack shit.

Bump 03-09-2025 03:22 PM

a terrible team needs to pay more to keep the big name, the only hall of fame player they have. Kind of glad he didn't go to a more competitive team tbh.

RINGLEADER 03-09-2025 03:23 PM

Browns are a broken franchise.

They could trade away a chunk of Deshaun Watson’s contract, get multiple picks for Garrett, and start over but instead they’re paying $40M to a DE who will have limited impact because the rest of their roster is garbage.

It’s the ****ing Browns, dude. He could give them a discount and they’d still be a poverty franchise, he’d just be $10m poorer.

Jamie 03-09-2025 03:40 PM

This is the second time they've ****ed up the market by giving out a idiotic desperation contract. The rest of the league must hate their guts.

Tyreek has already played in a superbowl.

Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how long before he realizes that $40M/yr won’t be enough to make up for all the losing he’s going to go through for the rest of his career.

Heh, you and I both know he already realizes it... he weighed the scales and decided money beats winning

Rainbarrel 03-09-2025 04:14 PM

There are no sure thing franchises. Play longer with just regular seasons. Maybe pull a Suggs if you're really lucky at the end

So predictable by Cleveland

They need a full on rebuild, but its easier to keep asses in seats with aging stars... its stupid, shortsighted leadership

Well, there's 'knowing' it in your head, and then there's knowing/feeling it in your heart/soul.

Regardless, he made his decision.

Garrett was doing them a favor. Had they traded him for a few valuable picks they may have been able to be competitive despite throwing 200 mil down the toilet on a garbage QB.

They need to do a George Costanza.

Every good idea or instinct they have, do the opposite. Good lord what an abortion fire.
