Johnny Morton now "doubtful"??
apparently a new MRI has now shown a small tear in his Achilles
potential for increased injury. according to Metrosports (btw might be new and old info mixed together... they were kinda vague) |
This is new news to me ...... Ouch !
|
Vermeil said he was fine in his morning PC.
|
swell :shake:
|
I don't want to hear it. I'm definitely nervous for the donko game.

 i don't know... they are just showing a new metrosports this morning and talked about the tear ... which i hadn't heard before. also talked about how he thought about retiring this preseason because of the possibility of "blowing his Achilles" completely. |
Sounds fishy to me. You sure this isn't old news? He's been going full go on it, even this morning....
|
Have not found this news anywhere!!
|
9/10....
GRETZ: How much do you expect to get out of Johnnie Morton on Sunday? VERMEIL: “Everything he has to give. Anything less will not be acceptable. Johnnie Morton is a pro and he knows what’s expected of him. He made two catches on the practice field this week that looked like he’d never missed a practice. I don’t know if he’ll have the stamina you need or anything like that, but we’ll rotate him through and I believe he’ll make a big play.” |
What's going on here? Can anyone confirm this other than Metrosports?
|
I'm really tiring of this pansie ass muther*****er. Let Richard Smith play in his spot for a while and I bet Cindy Morton will heal up pretty quickly.....

now whether MetroSports is playing mixed and match, i dont know |

It's my opinion. If people can't see what a worthless bag of crap this guy is, that's their fault. |

If Morton doesn't step up soon and have some good games, he's done with Chiefs.

I knew Morton would not be ready. Time to see what the Rookies can do, they gotta step up sunday night.

Even if he is ready or whatever I don't see him being that effective, we will see.
|
Take a seat, Johnny...
Go with Hall & Smith. xoxo~ Gaz Less concerned than some about Morton’s position. |
Well my dad used to say, there's some truth in all reports. Morton probably has a microscopic tear in his achillies. He also is probably ready to go. He does have a knack for avoiding the big play.
|
I may be in the minority, but I'm not counting on anything from Richard Smith. How many rookies have looked good in the Preseason only to do nothing in the regular season? I am not comfortable at all with Richard Smith as our 3rd WR in Denver for the first game of the regular season. He really hasn't shown me anything yet that I've said, "Wow...that kid can play." The TD catch against Dallas was nice but who'd he beat for that TD? 2nd teamers...3rd teamers?
We will see, but I'd feel a lot better with a former 1,000 yard vet at the 3rd WR spot than an undrafted rook. |

MM ~~ |
He's still listed as probable on kcchiefs.com
|
Anyone ever stop to think that maybe KC is using this as a ploy for Denver to gameplan for Morton, and spend less time gameplanning for receiver X (be it Hall, Smith, etc.) If that's the case, it's brilliant.
|
the game plan would have been installed a week or so ago
|
How many balls that hit Richard Smith in the hands did he drop? That former 1000 yard receiver never showed up here after he left Detroit.

I personally think Mortons' fate was sealed before Bo got hurt for the year.
I fully expected to see him gone, and Horn make the roster. |
Dammit. Where's Sylvester Morris when you need him?
|
1000 yards in Detroit means nothing........that's because they piled up yards after being down by so much all the time, then had to pass to get back in it. Barry Sanders has the only yards in the history of that team that mean a thing! :o) <<< Morton
|
I'd rather have hope in Smith. If Morton plays, I'll root for him like any other Chief, but he has dropped too many balls. Just take a look back to the colts game, he had three key drops. A Veteran?

Bo and Wilson are going to be missed severely in this offense.

I like Richard Smith's potential. I think he has a ton of it, and he was a great find. But going into Denver, I am not confident in Smith at all. I hope he proves me wrong, but I would rather have Johnnie Morton to rely on than Richard Smith at this point in the season. |

My point is this: Morton was brought in here to be a #1 relieable, count on him receiver and what's he done for us. Big Disappointment, there's no doubt he was great with Detroit, but something happened when he came here, first year he couldn't get the offense. Second they moved him where he was "comfortable" and he was still a bust. Year 3--- To be Seen

it was a joke, sorry. |
I'd sure like to see our O go into Denver with Bo, so we could have a big receiver for the middle of the field, then throw in Wilson with Tony G. If only!!

But, yes, we would have been MUCH better off with them. |

I'm going off of Bo's 1st year and the preseason of them both. Bo looked and played way more determined, and they took Wilson leaving everyone shell shocked as to why, but they said it's because he can be used to change the whole scheme against Defenses
|
Agree with J Croft
|
JCROFT,
I'm sending some rep your way. How a man can post 4,000 times and only have to ticks of rep is beyond me. I got the joke.... |
Man JCroft...Now I know why you don't have any rep.
Our Offense wasn't good enough last season?? ROFLMAO |
Defenses always catch up. Always, always room for improvement, they say themselves all the time. Green, Vermeil, Priest Gonzo, they all say it.

As for my rep -- Probably 3800 of my 4000 posts came before the "rep" system existed. I recently returned from a long ChiefsPlanet hiatus. :) |
Um, he said the Offense wasn't good enough LAST SEASON. That has nothing to do with improving this season. He stated LAST SEASON.
Fact of the matter is, if our O was anything less than it was, we might have finished 0-16 last year. Our O was plenty good. And you can improve on things with the same players. You don't have to go out and get players to improve. A healthier Priest Holmes will automatically improve this O. |
Can someone explain the rep system please

Reading your posts and replies, you won't have to worry about the positive rep too much. (J/K). |

You should get some reps just for that post alone. :) |

OK, so an MRI before the cuts showed it wasn't torn and a new MRI shows a tear?
Morton better run on tat until it ruptures. :cuss: |

Stick with it TRR. You're in the right place.
Anybody that thinks we'd be better off heading to Denver with a undrafted rookie over a veteran is on something. I think Richard Smith has a ton of potential, but I'd really like to start the season 1-0. |

Morton's going to light the Donkeys up. :D
|
WTF? I would feel much safer with Morton in the game than a rookie or even Hall.
This offense was clicking with Morton on the field last year. He brings experience, something that Smith doesn't have against a VERY difficult division foe ON THEIR HOME TURF. Even if Smith did some nice things in the game if he played, he would likely screw a lot of things up as well. That's why Vermeil and Co. have guys like Kennison and Morton in the game and not the young guys everyone loves. |
While I think Smith and possibly Parker will eventually become very good offensive weapons for our ballclub. We need to be realistic and realize this is a pretty complicated offensive scheme. The games they played in preseason was very vanilla scheme that only used a small portion of the playbook. You can't expect a rookie to just come in here, and not only adjust to the speed of the NFL. But, have to learn the entire playbook and run precise routes at the same time. You saw what happened Trent's first season when he had to deal with guys running the wrong direction. I'm sure Al has several plays already drawn up in which we'll see Smith and Parker on the field. However, this offense needs to be running on all cylinders while the defense is learning a different scheme. Expecially if you look at our opponents this year. We have to face some VERY tough defenses this year in which we can ill afford rookies to learn on the fly.

excessive pillowbiting can lead to tears
