Stick a fork in them..

Vermeil, Peterson and whatever else front office moron that felt the need to stand pat this off-season should be ashamed of themselves.

This team is finished for 2004.

A injury rattled team came into Arrowhead and took the Chiefs lunch money. They beat the hell out of them in every aspect of the game.

The fact you finish on average of 30th in the NFL in a 3 year period and stand pat on defense is completely disgusting.

The fact that you WON'T go out and acquire a receiver to help this offense is going to be the death of it. The offense was one of the best the last two years, but defenses adjust and change. But this offense never has. They have never gone out to get another weapon.

It's called standing pat, and the Chiefs did it offensively and defensively and they deserve to finish 6-10.

This team deserves to fail because the front office from the president/ceo, to the director of college scouting to the head coach have set this team up for failure.

How many years can we have lousy drafts. We haven't had a good first round draft pick since 1999.

Gunther isn't the problem. The problem is we have some of the worst defensive talent ever assembled on defense. Look at our linebackers, they are pitiful. Shawn Barber is a joke. Fujita whiffs on everything. Beisel is a tweener - which should be the slogan for our defense because they are all tweeners.

Warfield's alright, McCleon is bad. Jerome Woods is the invisible man. He's not a real Pro Bowler. He's flat out horrible. I'm sick of listening to people praise this guy when he sucks.

Hicks has done nothing. Hell, the only player that played worth a damn is Lional Dalton.

This season is going to be a long one. But I'm done worrying and being angry about this team. They pull the company line that they are cashed out and have no money to do anything, well my nerves are shot and I'm done having high expectations only to be dissapointed.

If Carolina can come in and take it to this team with half their offensive firepower on the sideline, that should tell you something.

This defense doesn't make plays, they turn running backs into players.

Vermeil's stubborness is the biggest achilies heel of this team. It's a shame he has put Gunther in the position to fail with the same scabs.

I just don't get it. Vermeil said the players lost the Colts game, and then admits he's reluctant to fire G-Rob, but yet he keeps the same players around. The logic doesn't make sense.

But this organization has never made sense.

I'm done venting now. Flame away, homers.

Sure-Oz 09-19-2004 02:20 PM

I fully agree with you!

teedubya 09-19-2004 02:25 PM

Man, It sure is great to be a KC fan... Hype galore... and never showing up. The Royals had high hopes... but no. The Chiefs same deal. Man. This makes me not even want to visit any freaking Chiefs websites... including this one. It sucks to be Chiefs fans on this sad day.

Michael Michigan 09-19-2004 02:28 PM

At least the stands were full.

Think of the cash they took in on parking alone.

the Talking Can 09-19-2004 02:32 PM

CP has to go

KHinz57 09-19-2004 02:37 PM

Don't pull a hamstring jumping off the bandwagon! Jeez, does everyone forget how the New England Patriots started the season 0-2 last year, and we all know what happened!

Sure-Oz 09-19-2004 02:37 PM

Patriots also had a speck of a defense as well.

No, the New England Patriots didn't start 0-2 last year.

If you really think you can compare the Patriots and the Chiefs situations than your an even bigger homer than I ever imagined.

I personally love it when a team sucks and then fans try to compare what happened to another team and think that the exact same can happen.

New England knew how to tackle. They know how to play defense. The Patriots have receivers that can catch the ball.

The Chiefs don't.

The Bad Guy 09-19-2004 02:42 PM

And let me add that while I was at training camp, this team didn't do one single tackling drill.

In fact, Ivan Carter told me that they haven't really done them in any camp since Vermeil started.

I hardly think that's a coincidence to why this defense couldn't stop my grandmother.

1adam1238 09-19-2004 02:43 PM

for you ****ing info...the pats didn't start 0-2 last year.....they lost there third game.

Joe Seahawk 09-19-2004 02:46 PM

Chief fans deserve better.. Front office appears to have made a big mistake thinking Gunther alone would be enough to improve your D..

It's a damn shame to see this offense cheated by such shoddy defense.. :shake:

What offense? Did you see them today?

ROYC75 09-19-2004 02:49 PM

But I bet you couldn't find to many Patriots fans who thought they would win the SB after a 31-0 thrashing they took from Buffalo in week 1 !

Iowanian 09-19-2004 02:50 PM

The Offense played like crap.....the Defense played like Crap......The Special teams played like crap.

Denver also played like crap.

KC is one game out of first place.

The sky has not fallen. Stop acting like a horde of Menstruating Bronco fans.

Bwana 09-19-2004 02:50 PM

Good thread and I agree with all of it.

the Talking Can 09-19-2004 02:53 PM

can we please stop with the absurd Patriots analogy....every team in the league uses that excuse

The Patriots had won a ****ing Superbowl two years prior....our defense has sucked for years: they have no success to refer to....

Hey, it's not all negative, we sold a million dollars worth of beer.

KHinz57 09-19-2004 03:03 PM

Speaking of which, New England is beating the Arizona Cardinals 14-0 at this time.

The defense has played like crap since the Denver game of last year.

The offense has no receivers to throw to.

The sky fell in the off-season.

That's what I was thinking. The offense so far has not able to get into that groove it had last year to make up for our incompetent defense. Combine that with the toughest schedule I've ever seen...this is going to be a long ass season.

But hey, better we figure this out now before I waste all my time getting hyped up like last year. I'm graduating in december so it's nice to know that if I have to work hard on a Sunday that I won't be missing anything.

Even so, I'm not jumping ship. I'll still wear my red every Sunday, and continue to be the lone voice yelling for the Chiefs at the sports bar down here in TX.

That's one game.

The next game they responded against Philadelphia.

The Chiefs defense hasn't responded to all the jokes in the off-season, they haven't responded to getting embarrased to the Colts, they haven't responded to anything. They get ran on, they get thrown all over and it doesn't seem to matter to these clowns.

Lost their first on the road, Buff. Won at Philly. Won at home, Jets. Lost at Wash. Started 2-2.

The CHIEFS just BLEW a great opportunity to get even with the division. Whenever you get your A$$ handed to you at HOME is cause for concern. :banghead:

The season isn't over, but I am really concerned about our offense. By the end of the year, our D might be substantially better, but it won't matter if our O isn't winning games for us now -- we'll be out of the playoffs.

The total breakdown of the passing game is worrisome. It's not like Brady has that much talent to throw to at WR. Maybe Green really misses Terry Shea. I dunno. Over the last 3 years, the up and down nature of the passing game doesn't make sense.

I'm gonna add Al Saunder's playing calling sucks ass......You've got one of the best RB's in the game along with a very good Oline, and you wanna be cute and throw the ball around. Al Saunders is over rated IMO.

ARROW2 09-19-2004 03:36 PM

We're done. That was pitiful. Morton is soffft...Beisel will NEVER be a middle linebacker, too slow. Barber should get benched for Fox. Play Richard Smith, at least he gets open. So what he dropped it, at least he was open to drop it.

HolmeZz 09-19-2004 03:40 PM

I'm not worried at all about the offense. Trent always limps through the first couple weeks of the season. The fact that we have 0 receivers won't change though.

I don't understand why we stopped going to Gonzo today though. We were torching Carolina with him, then we just quit throwing his way.

PunkinDrublic 09-19-2004 03:44 PM

It's times like these that test you as a die hard fan.

Sure-Oz 09-19-2004 03:44 PM

Gonzo could'nt get seperation again today, that foot has to be bothering him. He had lb's on him and couldn't get by them.

I'm in 100% agreement I hope some people call in to Petersons show and flame his ASS! I was afraid it would be this bad. If the D ends up 20th or so by the end of the year then Gun is a god because Vince Lomardi couldn't do anything with this bunch of pukes!!

I agree I'm just not looking forward to the inevitable teasing at work on Mondays after a loss.

Saulbadguy 09-19-2004 04:06 PM

Well, at least this game wasn't a tie-breaker of any sorts. I'm also glad our bye week is coming up soon.

Going into week one, any fan that didn't have their head at least near their ass knew the defense wasn't great, that having a Starting MLB who had basically never played LB before wasn't good, and that the WR corps was in deep shat...particularly when we were punched in the gut when one of our Most mediocre WRs got hurt(Boerigter).

I saw Roaf missing blocks and sucking wind.........I saw Welborne play pretty well vs Peppers. I saw Johnny Morton not even TRY to catch a pass over the middle because the safety was coming(that douchebag has no heart and should be cut today.....Fug his candy ass). I saw Green Throwing Rockets and no one catching those that were close enough. I saw Tynes Miss another FG Vermiel would never have even Let Morten attempt.

Where in the hell was Larry Johnson? Forget that........We're damn lucky Holmes isn't gone for the year the way his knee bent back.

I know what sucks....................And I also know that Both of these losses came away at a damn tough venue, and vs a superbowl team from last year.

The Chiefs will Beat the Texans next sunday. We'll tailgate, we'll see Joe Delaney into the Ring of Fame, We'll celebrate the Win, and the bandwagon will fill back up.

The Broncos also lost. The Bolts suck and are losing. The Raiders suck.

The Chiefs just have to win 1 more game than Denver in the next 13, and beat them at Home in December.

I'm not doing a cannon ball off of the sears tower because of this loss.
This years' team is what it is, and there isn't shit we can do except cheer them next week.
