Holy god in heaven, Eric Kush is fast off the ball.

One of our two 6th rounders, center Eric Cush of California University of Pennsylvania.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ltfGu3UCL3o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

He's #64 -- which should be ****ing obvious, you moron. He's the center. So stop being an idiot.

His pass protection is pretty nice. But his runblocking is otherworldly.

He explodes off the ball. He is super, super fast, seems to get to where the DL needs to be before the DL gets there.

I always like seeing the small school guys teams bring in that we couldn't have really possibly known about.

This is a really, really interesting dude. Looking forward to his snaps in the preseason...

Dave Lane 05-06-2013 11:15 PM

We need more offensive lineman.

Long snapper?

Dave Lane 05-06-2013 11:15 PM

Fisher Albert Kush Asamoah Stephenson

WE WILL NEVER PASS THE BALL AGAIN.

Direckshun 05-06-2013 11:17 PM

Really fluid runner.

He'd be fantastic out in space.

Dave Lane 05-06-2013 11:26 PM

He's a corn fed white boy.

Pitt Gorilla 05-06-2013 11:31 PM

Wow, if he has any strength at all, he could be a good one.

To me it looks like he would make a great conversion to guard.

chop 05-07-2013 04:53 AM

Maybe he is going to be the starting center and Hudson will be moved to guard. Isn't guard the position Hudson played most in college?

ChiefMojo 05-07-2013 05:00 AM

Kush does have the potential to be a tremendous NFL center. He has the size, quickness and ability. Just now have to see how he reacts to the speed of the NFL. Luckily for us we don't have to throw him into the wolves right off the bat due to Hudson being here. Can't wait to see him in Training Camp.

Hootie 05-07-2013 05:17 AM

excuse me while I don't get excited about a 6th round guard

odds of him making the roster? 30%

odds of him ever starting? 10%

I'll cheer for him though.

crossbow 05-07-2013 05:24 AM

This is good. Lack of dedpth on the oline was a problem last season. Looking really good now. So next year they draft Receiver, DL, and QB.

BlackHelicopters 05-07-2013 05:36 AM

If Maguire is there just sniff or something.

No still need 2 1st round guards a better RT and another Center. Once half the roster is OL we can then go wild in the draft and get a 6th FB and at half dozen DL.

I like the pick, and hope he works out.

It was imperative that we add some depth at the center position, and I'd rather have this kind than Lilja or some other guy at the end of his career.

I don't know why this place hates drafting offensive linemen. It's the one thing I think we have been good at. Look at our investments, they are all appropriate considering the position they play.

Tackle - Albert (R1), Fisher (R1), Stephenson (R3)
Guards - Asamoah (R3), Allen (R2)
Center - Hudson (R3), Kush (R6)

Love how he pulls right in the first play, spins around, sets his feet then stones the trailing tackle.

Now before we get, too excited (me included) remember the competition. He should look good against these guys if he is close to NFL quality. But he definitely shows better on film than Poe did.

Yea agree, i'm one of them.

And many here, myself included, are getting far too hopeful far too quickly for our 6th round rookie C/G from a small school. All I can say is i like what I see and love what I hear about him. Hope he pans out to at least provide quality backup to Hudson at C so we're not totally hosed if he misses time again.

No, we are investing high picks in critical areas.

If there was a QB worth the first overall pick, I'd be all for it, but there wasn't.

Was there a clear cut Dlineman at 1.1? Nope.

The Chiefs did what any other team in our position would do. Take the best guy available.

No, the odds of a sixth round draft pick might meet those percentages, but that's in a vacuum. This guy for his position, ability, and the team needs, has significantly odds of doing both those things.

Rodney Hudson is "tiny/small" (I use those terms loosely because hes really not) but for Andy Reid, he is. Andy Reid wants big huge ****ers like Geoff Schwartz as his guard type

I had to look this guy up after we drafted him. I can't complain about this pick- the thing that really popped to me was how quick he was to establish the inside position on his blocks. Good lateral agility and balance.

Agreed.

Oh yeah, Jared Allen says, "Hey!"

Not that its certain, but no one on here had a clue about this guy come draft day so I'd be less piss and vinegar about the pick as no one is an expert on the guy at this point unless the only point is futile bitching, and that's your own damn fault for deciding to hook your wagon to the Chief's franchise. Which at times feels like its being driven by a bunch of spooked horses heading straight over the cliff.

The funny thing is, when you have a great GM and some of these late picks pans out, you end up with a really good team after a few years.

49ers got their starting Fullback by drafting a DE in the 7th round and converting him to FB. That kind of savvy by GMs really builds franchises.

You are dead right that the odds are slim, but great GMs tend to beat the odds.

That is what really caught my attention. I doubt NFL competition will let him do this to them, but it does tell me he has the quickness to effectively trap, pull and block the second level of the defense. It also tells me he could play both center and guard. It will be interesting to see if he can hold up against a bull rush and can power block straight ahead knocking a lineman into a trailing LB. I'm very interested in seeing him play in the pre-season games.

milkman 05-08-2013 09:03 AM

This guy doesn't get enough bend at the knees so his pad level is too high at the snap, and he doesn't get underneath the pads of the lineman in front of him on his blocks.

If he's going to stay at center in the NFL, he's a project.
